MysticMag’s Marko Velimirovic had a pleasure of meeting Tara Greene, a well renowned Astrologer and clairvoyant. In this interview, she shares insight about her beginnings, as well as the difficulties of different psychic reading sessions.
What inspired you to start your psychic reading business?
Tara Greene: I’ve always been a psychic. I was born intuitive – I remember that I came from another universe, another star system. I didn’t plan to become a psychic; I started as an artist originally and I understood that being an artist was a label to give me the freedom to live the way I wanted.
I started reading about witchcraft, occult things, mythology, symbolism, and I feel that whatever it is we are attracted to, we get drawn into. After having a whole career as an artist and a craftsperson, someone told me about a woman who was a psychologist using tarot as a part of her therapy. I initially started studying with her, but then I was led to another teacher and I kept meeting all these people that had different systems of tarot, so it all just happened very organically.
What is the most common type of reading that customers are looking for and what are the most common concerns that interest them?
TG: People like tarot cards. The tarot has had a huge explosion of influence over the last ten years, as well as astrology. People are people, so it’s always about love. They also ask about health, career, and changes in their lives. I am a life coach, so I coach people through all kinds of difficult situations.
What is the most important detail of maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with your customers?
TG: I do a lot of phone readings, especially these days due to the Covid-19 situation. People have a sense of trust and are always informed that everything is confidential.
I am also very ethical – I don’t do those what I consider scams about removing hexes, bringing back lovers, and improving your luck. There is no instant fix with the way I do readings – it’s all about helping my clients to empower themselves.
I am very clear about what people should expect, and I’m trying to give people the tools so they can be more aware, and more conscious. But, at the end of the day, they have their own free will. I don’t want people to depend on me specifically to give them all the answers. I will be clear about what I see, and that comes in different forms, but they are the ones that have to make a choice.
I do have people coming back to me after years and years later telling me what I said was true, although they did not want to believe it at the time. It’s all about being ethical. I have to be ethical myself, otherwise, I would not be doing what I am doing.
Are some types of psychic readings more demanding or difficult than the others?
TG: Yes – you have clients that go from one reader to the next one until they hear what they want to hear, and they will keep demanding and pushing you to see it the way they want you to see it. I coach people through extremely difficult, often life and death situations, and I do feel for my clients. A good reader always has to have boundaries, but of course, I feel for them too.
I do a lot of counseling for people who are leaving their marriages or not continuing their relationships which they want to believe they should continue, so a lot of situations are very difficult.
What advice would you give to a new psychic reader? Is it better for them to work independently or as a part of a team?
TG: I believe that you need to do a lot of studies. You have to do your own psychotherapy, because there is a lot of projection involved. I know there are a lot of young kids these days who think they can just pick up a deck and just do it, but there is a structure to a real tarot and that takes a long time to really learn. I’m not saying that people aren’t naturally intuitive, it depends on the person. Personally, I have never worked on one of those psychic phone lines – I’ve always worked for myself. You have to remember that people’s lives depend on what you say to them. I’ve always told people that I am not karmically responsible for their issues. You have to be very clear about that and you have to have strong boundaries because otherwise, you can be messing people up.
Do you have a special message for our readers in these difficult times?
TG: We are going through major world changes and the best thing to do is to really tune in to yourself, stay grounded, and remember that life is always about change. You need to connect to your higher self, which is the whole purpose of the tarot. Stay strong, stay positive, stay optimistic, and keep creating positive outcomes for yourself, no matter how challenging things are.
