When did you first know that being Energy Healers was your calling and how did it come about?
We were first introduced to Energy Psychology in 2001 in a supervision session for our hypnotherapy/NLP practices. We watched a video of the founder, Gary Craig, working with the tapping technique and found it fascinating. From there began a journey of total immersion into EFT, taking trainings and travelling to the USA to train with Gary. We both used the tapping for ourselves with great results and began introducing it to our existing client base. Now, it is our go to therapy, integrating it with other therapeutic models. Our IET training (Diploma in Integrated Energy Techniques, https://theeftcentre.com/iet-training/) grew out of our shared passion for EFT.
As well as being amongst the first in the world to achieve the EFT Master designation, we wanted to share our knowledge and experience in the very finest ways of working with indirect hypnosis, NLP, Coaching and psycho-spiritual approaches – for example 12 Steps, A Course in Miracles, The Work of Byron Katie. We are so lucky in that we really do see miracles every day in our work, and everything goes back to those early days in 2001 when both our friendship and our journeys with EFT and energy healing began. A very serendipitous aligning of the planets!
What services do you offer?
We offer a variety of EFT International Accredited Practitioner trainings, from Introductory Workshops to Advanced Levels, specialist Training in Trauma and Addictions, plus a number of self-development workshops, mentoring and practice days. We also both run successful private practices online.
Our flagship training, of course, is the Diploma in Integrated Energy Techniques (IET). Students must first have completed EFT to Level 2 to join the IET training, which is a longer, more in depth training. Together we have been able to offer the wisdom of more than 20 years studying, practicing and teaching the best of what works. In a nutshell, IET is a distillation of what you need to know and master to be a really effective practitioner. And while it took us years to accumulate this amount of knowledge and experience, we present it in a form which is learnable in months – and we teach in a way that allows students to grasp complex material easily and effortlessly. It is also a lot of fun – so often people say it doesn’t feel like learning at all!
Could you tell us more about EFT and IET?
Firstly, they are closely connected! Quite simply EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is the most exciting breakthrough in therapy and personal development in a long time.
It is a treatment tool for anxieties, fears, trauma, procrastination, addictions, weight loss and much more: a gentle highly effective way to transform any issues blocking emotional happiness or personal achievement.
EFT is the leader of a ‘fourth wave’ of Energy Psychologies developed from the ancient Chinese meridian energy system – it is a form of emotional acupuncture without the needles, and is based on the premise that all negative emotions are the result of a disruption in the body’s energy system.
EFT works by clearing the blockage or disruption by tapping on the end points of the body’s energy meridians (while thinking of a specific issue) which sends pulses of energy to rebalance the body’s energy system in relation to that thought/specific issue. Shifting energy changes the way the brain processes information about a particular issue, and so tapping while tuned in to the issue is like rewiring or rerouting the brain’s conditioned negative response. You can imagine how liberating this is if you or someone you know has suffered from a phobia, or traumatic memories. EFT also works in the same way to release the limiting thoughts and beliefs that get in the way of your success, happiness, health and inner peace.
IET is really a blend of the most effective personal change techniques available, including EFT, combined with traditional therapeutic principles. As a client, the need to feel safe, understood and listened to is essential – we believe these are the foundations that make it possible for change and healing to take place.
What does it mean to be an Energy Psychologist?
It means integrating psychotherapy approaches with a somatic intervention, working with the body’s innate wisdom communicated via the energy system.
For us it is not only about skills and learning, but also the integrity and authenticity that comes from the Energy Psychologist’s commitment to their own personal journey.
What can a person expect from your sessions?
EFT is a tool which can be used to address emotional, physical or spiritual issues. The number of sessions required will depend on the complexity of the issue and it is important to bear in mind that while some problems, or parts of a problem, will clear straightaway there may be deeper aspects involved which will require time, patience and the expert skill of an experienced, creative practitioner to achieve a complete result. One of the great benefits of both EFT and IET is that complex work can take place either face to face or by phone/via Skype or Zoom.
EFT is also an extremely effective tool in supporting you moving forward and getting the life you want and love. You can take charge of your own process and overcome the blocks that may be standing in your way to reaching your full potential.
What do you love most about your profession?
We love helping people overcome blocks in their lives and accessing their full potential in the world. We also love the fact that EFT is something we can teach people to use for themselves to support themselves during difficult times. People become more self-aware and self-accepting, and have a tool to use out of the therapy room.
