Connecting with Spirit: Scott Guerin's Journey with Angel in Training

Connecting with Spirit: Scott Guerin's Journey with Angel in Training

In this enlightening interview with Scott Guerin featured on MysticMag, we delve into the heart of his transformative initiative, Angel in Training, which emerged from his profound spiritual journey that began in his teenage years.

Scott shares how his quest for connection with the divine led him to move away from traditional religious practices towards a more personal exploration of spirituality, rooted in science and psychology. Through his books, podcasts, and a burgeoning publishing company, he aims to empower individuals on their own spiritual paths, offering resources that blend personal experience with academic knowledge.

Join us as we explore Scott’s mission to inspire others to connect with their spirit teams and embrace their unique journeys of healing and growth.

What inspired the creation of Angel in Training and what is its core mission?

The inspiration came from my own spiritual journey, which started when I was a teenager. I was always fascinated and drawn to connecting with spirit, with God, in whatever way possible. Initially, I explored this through various Protestant denominations, but that didn’t resonate with me. Then, in my early 40s, my life fell apart, and I redirected the passion I had for religion towards spirituality outside of religion—particularly through science and psychology.

I’ve always approached things methodically and consider myself an open-minded person. As I reflected on my own experiences, I realized that others could potentially learn from my journey. That’s when I began documenting my path in two books. The first, The Spiritual Journey, covers the wild experiences I had along the way, including interactions with people, and possessions, and trying to share what I was learning with friends and family. The second book, 12 Lessons, distills the 12 critical milestones I came to understand after decades of spiritual pursuit.

These two books helped clarify my purpose in life—to research, explore, and share my discoveries with the world. That’s how Angel in Training was born. It began as a website, and now it offers a book series, articles, podcast episodes, and TV and radio broadcasts that came out of that journey.

How does Angel in Training support individuals on their spiritual or healing journeys?

Over the years, I’ve gathered many resources to support people on their spiritual or healing journeys. First, I’ve authored three books, all available on my website, Angelintraining.org. The first two I mentioned earlier, and my most recent book, Looking for Angels: A Guide to Understanding and Connecting with Angels. In addition, I started my own publishing company called SG Publishing, through which I’ve published these three books, and I’m working on three more. One is The Healed You, which I’m co-authoring with William Meyer, and another I am writing is tentatively titled Awkward Awakenings, which I’ll be releasing next year. I’m also working in a consultative role on another author’s book, The Wise Widow by Lynette Relyea,

Through my publishing company, I offer a hybrid model where I help authors with the book creation process, whether they need help developing the manuscript, connecting with editors and designers, or with distribution. In this model, the author retains all rights to the book and collects all royalties directly. I’m also an Independent Book Publishers Association member, which provides additional resources I share with my clients. So, that’s the book side of things.

On the media side, I’ve been featured on many podcasts, particularly related to Looking for Angels. I’ve appeared on over 30 podcasts and TV and radio shows, and I’ve shared the best of these interviews on my website for people to listen to. Each show has a different perspective, depending on the host’s direction, which offers listeners various viewpoints of my journey.

Additionally, I’ve published articles about spirituality—some related to Looking for Angels, but most focus on spiritual growth and how to navigate one’s spiritual journey.

Lastly, I have a free course on Udemy.com called Where Are You in Your Spiritual Journey?, which I created five years ago. It’s still popular, with nearly 2,000 students from 91 countries. The course provides a foundational overview of the typical steps people go through on their spiritual journey, helping them reflect on where they are and what to consider next.

Can you tell us more about the unique programs offered by Angel in Training and what sets them apart from other spiritual organizations?

Yes, absolutely. I believe what sets me and my offerings apart is the deep dive I’ve taken into spiritual matters, along with the extensive education I’ve pursued. Initially, I started out in psychology, thinking I would become a therapist. But early on, I realized that wasn’t my true calling. So, I shifted my focus from clinical psychology to human development, with an emphasis on spiritual development. I eventually earned two master’s degrees and a PhD in human development, which I bring into my work. I have also been working as an adjunct instructor in psychology for 22 years at Kean University, in New Jersey.

Interestingly, people often assume that academics are skeptical about spirituality and connecting with angels. But for me, it’s the opposite. I entered the academic world to deepen my understanding and connection with spirit, God, and angels. The knowledge I gained through this journey is now what I share with others.

I combine my academic background with personal experiences of spiritual growth, particularly connecting with my spirit team, and present this content in an open, accessible way for people to explore on their own terms. The balance of education and experience is what I believe sets my work apart.

Currently, I offer three books, as well as podcasts, radio, and TV shows that people can explore on my website. In addition to these, I’ve also founded SG Publishing. It started organically as I began helping others with their book projects. My goal is to assist people in getting their books published. I firmly believe everyone has a book within them, and many people have told me they want to write but don’t know how to get started. While I don’t aim to make a living off others’ published works, I offer consulting services to help them bring their book to life and ensure it’s published in the best way possible.

Can you share a success story where Angel in Training significantly impacted a client’s personal or spiritual growth?

Yes, I receive many heartwarming comments from people who share how Angel in Training has impacted their lives. Over the past few years, I’ve had about 50 or 60 people reach out to express gratitude. They often tell me how my story helped them realize they can overcome similar challenges and deepen their spiritual lives. Many have said, “Because of your story, I now believe I can achieve what I want.”

One recurring theme is how people connect with their spirit teams. After hearing my journey of awakening, they realized that if I could do it, so could they. This has been especially true for those who read Looking for Angels, which I co-authored with Nicole Bigley, an intuitive. The book includes step-by-step instructions on how to connect with your spirit team, and many readers have told us how transformative that has been for their spiritual journeys.

Another form of success comes from those who have had books inside them for years, and I’ve been able to help them bring those books to life. It’s incredibly rewarding when I secure an ISBN number or a Library of Congress registration for them, and they realize it’s really happening. Seeing their excitement and being a part of their publishing journey is truly fulfilling.

On a more personal note, I’ve shared a story about a time when I was severely depressed and even suicidal. Religion wasn’t helping, and I almost took my life. However, I experienced what I believed was an angelic intervention, which stopped me from getting on my motorcycle one night and ending my life. I wrote about this in my first book and have shared it on a few podcasts and radio shows.

One particular radio show host dug deep into that part of my story, and later, I learned that someone had planned to kill themselves that same evening. After hearing my story on the show, they decided not to go through with it. My experience gave them hope, and it’s moments like that where I realize just how powerful sharing our journeys can be.

How does Angel in Training integrate angelic guidance and healing into its teachings?

I believe this is the most impactful aspect of my work. Throughout the years, I’ve focused on providing encouragement, education, and practical steps to help people develop a deep connection with their spirit team—whether that’s their guardian angels or other spiritual guides.

For many, myself included, you may hear about angels in church, but it can feel distant or abstract. Angel in Training bridges that gap by teaching people how to connect with their spiritual guides meaningfully and meaningfully. Whether it’s through recognizing a guardian angel or connecting with a spirit animal, my teachings cover a wide range of spiritual experiences.

The Angel in Training book series offers a broad understanding of the spiritual landscape while also giving specific guidance on how to connect with your spirit team and build that relationship in your everyday life.

What new programs or services is Angel in Training planning to introduce in the future?

Yes, there are a few exciting projects in the works. One of the upcoming releases is a book titled The Wise Widow, written by Lynette Relyea. It’s about a woman who lost her spouse later in life and shares her journey of healing and recovery. This book is set to be released by the end of this year and will be available on Amazon, published through SG Publishing.

Another book coming out next year is The Healed You, written by William Meyer and me. It focuses on spirit-led healing and how individuals can bring healing into their lives in a unique and impactful way.

Additionally, I’m working on a new project with a tentative title, Awkward Awakenings. This book will explore the awakening process at an individual level and address a global awakening. Some refer to this as an ascension process, the transition from the third dimension to the fourth and fifth dimensions. It will delve into the profound spiritual shift that’s occurring on a global scale.
