How has your experience as a student of Master Mantak Chia and teacher at Tao Garden shaped your approach to Medical QiGong meditation?

When I was in my twenties I was invited to a weekend workshop in New York City. The teacher had written a book that changed my life.
The Inner Smile was a short paperback written by a Tao master named Mantak Chia. The concept was that my mental health and beliefs were dictating my physical health. This idea was new back then and led me to the most amazing adventure of my life; becoming Grandmaster Mantak Chia’s student.

What happened in that room filled with 45 doctors and clinicians is a story in itself. At the end of the weekend I stood in line to meet the teacher. When it was my turn I said, “I don’t know how you did that, but I want to do it too.” Master Chia picked up my hands and looked at them. After a while he said, “You have the hands of a healer. Very strong.” My head instantly swelled with pride. “But, you don’t know what you’re doing. That makes you dangerous.” Like a pin and balloon, instant deflation. “Go take an anatomy class, then come see me in Tao Garden.”

A year later and a massage certificate, I attended and graduated from the second Teacher Training class at Tao Garden Training Facility in a village outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Five years later I was on staff in Tao Garden and it had become a world class natural health resort. For 25 years I spent 4 to 6 months in Tao Garden each year as support for Master Chia and his guests. I became the host for his podcast, ghost wrote books and edited copy.

There are no words to describe the gift of spending that much time with a Taoist Master. Life became QiGong. As an educator I became known for being a Medical QiGong expert, but also an approachable person who walks her talk. Teaching came natural and I threw away the text books early on. QiGong is best experienced, not just spoken about.

Can you explain how Medical QiGong meditation applies the principles of quantum physics to promote health and balance?

Medical QiGong is quantum physics in action. There are quantum theories a Taoist accepts as fact.
For example. The smallest action to facilitate a reaction would be…a thought. The wave of possibility emitted by the brain facilitates change on a molecular level when it comes in contact with a particle of reality. Indeed, when a person programs that wave with a thought, then energizes that thought with emotional energy, we literally think a new reality in to existence.

In the Tao, the way of nature, we practice self mastery by focusing specific thoughts directly to internal organs and glands. Over time, physical and emotional energy in the body balances out. We experience a greater sense of connection to ourselves, humanity, earth and the Universe. We learn to heal ourselves, stay healthy and extend longevity with the power of thought.

What insights have you gained from your conversations with Grandmaster Mantak Chia about QiGong meditation and its connection to abundance and well-being?

Master Chia showed me the proper steps to QiGong training and the importance of self mastery. This could be a few years or a few lifetimes.

Once a person learns to make and execute healthy requests for themselves and can demonstrate the ability to manifest from thought to physical reality, they may be ready to use those principles to consciously co-create abundance outside of the body.

How do you guide individuals to use ancient Taoist meditations to transform sickness and stress into health and inner peace?

One of the reasons I chose Taoist Medical QiGong is because it is formulaic. Zen was too hard. I just couldn’t keep my mind blank.
But the Tao was different. First I think that, then I think this, then finish with that and I’m done. Almost anyone can follow along.

These meditations were passed down through an oral tradition over at least 5000 years. If you follow the instructions, you will get a result. What that result will be is programmed by your intention. This is one of the reasons we insist a student choose a teacher. Sometimes we don’t even know what to ask for when we sit down to meditate. A good teacher can help with that.

I choose to share these “formulas” by teaching guided meditation via classroom, video chat or downloadable recordings on www.SarinaStone.com.
Most folks work one on one through video chat these days. However, anyone who can gather 15 people for a weekend is eligible to host a workshop. It’s a lot of fun and we can squeeze two months of weekly classes into two days.

What advice would you give to someone new to Medical QiGong meditation who wants to start cultivating positive thinking and a balanced lifestyle?

There are two pieces of great advice to begin the journey of mental and physical health through Medical QiGong:

1. Smile. A genuine, gentle smile positively affects the message we send to others and to ourself. Give it a try.
While you’re at it, pay attention to whether or not others are smiling as well. How does it make you feel?

2. Find a Medical QiGong teacher. There are many meditation formulas. An experienced teacher will help you refine your practice and will know when it’s time to take the next step.
