This week we had the pleasure of speaking with Sara Arey – president and founder of Refuture Your Life and author of “The Universe F-ing Loves Me: Getting Out of Your Way and Into Your Flow”. Refuture Your Life is a company dedicated to empowering clients to go from being burned out, stuck, and dissatisfied with a ho-hum life, to feel inspired and on fire for their next phase.
We spoke about the origin of her work and the evolution of it up to this day.
What inspired you to start this business, and how did your career evolve?
I was working for a woman named Tapas Fleming who developed a healing modality called TAT® or Tapas Acupressure Technique®. I was her education director – I did the research for her and helped her create an international certification program.
While I loved doing that, I realized that I also loved working with individuals. So, I started a business in addition to the work I was doing for her, using the technique with individuals and groups.
I signed up with a business coach for a year-long program to learn how to build and market my business. Six months into the program she called me and asked if I would be interested in “doing what I do” with all of her clients. I said “Yes, absolutely”.
She has seen that you can teach people all the strategies in the world, but if they are not taking action because their fears, limiting beliefs and old conditioning are getting in their way, they’re not going to be successful. And that’s what I did – I helped her clients get out of their own way and actually take action in their business and their lives.
That’s what I continue to do today.
In addition to the energy and mindset work that I’ve done for 30 years, I recently became certified as a sex, love and relationship coach. This allows me to help my clients really embody the energetic shifts that I have always been helping them make, and help them integrate this on a very deep level.
What services do you offer?
I work one on one with clients. I also lead a mentoring group and do group programs. I have an “Embody Your Awesome” workshop that I’ve done online and will be doing in-person in May.
Confidence can feel like a mind game, where you’re trying to talk yourself into believing that you have skills and talents, or that you’re enough. Or it can come across as harsh bravado, where you’re looking down at other people. Neither of those is genuine or creates a real connection. The focus of the Embody Your Awesome workshop is helping participants feel confident and worthy of the gifts they possess.
How exactly do you help entrepreneurs with their business and life?
I help them get out of their own way. I help people take action from a grounded, inspired state, and along the way, let go of the conditioning from past limiting beliefs and painful experiences. All the things that have been keeping them disconnected from their own power.
What is the most important detail of maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers?
The most important detail is doing what we promise to do, being mindful of what we say we’re going to do, and living up to that.
Along with that, we need to be in integrity within ourselves. This means coming to all parts of our business with as much honesty and clarity as possible – coming from love and abundance rather than fear and need.
Was there anything you felt you needed to do in order to deepen and develop your abilities?
That’s one of the things I’m passionate about – self-development. One of my core values is walking my talk.
When I did an intensive leadership program six years ago, I realized how disconnected I was from my body. I felt awkward and uncomfortable in my own skin. I knew that being at peace in the body (and not just functioning from the mind) is a big part of intuition, genuine confidence, and having a strong presence. So, I started looking for ways to become more settled in my body, and signed up for the certification program I just completed.
I’ll always be growing, deepening, and expanding myself and my skills. It’s how I live my life.
What do you love most about your profession?
I love witnessing the transformation in my clients. I have clients that I’ve worked with for years. Seeing how their lives have transformed brings me incredible joy.
I also love that my profession and my commitment to it continue to develop me as a person. It impacts every aspect of my life.
