Riri Trivedi, co-founder of Wellness Space, shares her journey with MysticMag, highlighting her dedication to transforming lives through evidence-based mental health and well-being practices.
Established in 2010 alongside Dr. Gunjan Y Trivedi, Wellness Space has grown into a unique organization that merges therapy, research, and training to address the complex mental health challenges individuals face today. With a focus on scientific rigor and personalized care, Wellness Space stands out by offering innovative therapeutic interventions and training for professionals.
The organization continues to make a significant impact through its commitment to research and client-centered wellness solutions.
What inspired the creation of Wellness Space and what is its primary mission?
Wellness Space was established in Singapore by Riri G Trivedi and Dr Gunjan Y Trivedi in 2010 to transform individuals and teams. Both are now based in Ahmedabad and have created a unique organization that provides therapy, conducts research, and provides mental health and well-being training. The guiding principle continues to be an evidence-based approach to solve real problems people face, through the interplay of research, training, and therapy.
How does Wellness Space support individuals in achieving their wellness goals?
The individual is at the center of the intersection of the three circles. The scientific work (global evidence-based or through Wellness Space research) feeds the workshops (training for psychotherapists, and psychologists) and therapeutic interventions. To give you an idea about the scale, the team (several psychologists, and therapists) has conducted and documented about 10,000 therapy sessions over the past three years of therapy!
The process includes an assessment of several presenting issues (childhood trauma history, depression & anxiety, insomnia levels, well-being, and much more). The therapeutic interventions include addressing the imbalance in the psychological homeostasis (these parameters) and eventually facilitate coaching for future goals.
What key features or services differentiate Wellness Space from other wellness platforms?
Society for Energy & Emotions, Wellness Space collaborates with all the experts to create new evidence when needed, focused on client outcomes. The findings are often published so others can replicate (see detailed list of publications here).
Key points of differentiation are (a) evidence-based therapeutic interventions (b) assessment of the progress during and after therapy, (c) development of new insights through research and publication (e.g. self-hypnosis protocol, humming as stress-buster, inner child therapy effectiveness (accepted, not published yet), complex PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder through RTM-Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories), and more. Wellness Space also trains in these protocols through their “Release Reframe Toolkit” which includes inner child integration therapy training, reconsolidation of traumatic memories for PTSD/CPTSD, and more.
Some highlights are captured below:
◦ Wellness Space has published seven high-quality (Scopus/PubMed indexed) articles in the field of childhood trauma in India, covering the long-term mental health implications, risks for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), the process to assess childhood trauma, its role in suicide behavior, AI-based prediction of childhood trauma, highlighting few as examples.
◦ Wellness Space case study on quality of life for cancer survivors is published at IIM, Ahmedabad. They have collaborated with top institutions, including IIM, Ahmedabad, IIT-Mandi, Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar, Gujarat Technological University, and others. ◦ The team has a strong pipeline of research ideas that include how to assess and address Complex PTSD (CPTSD), predicting the risk of suicide behavior, self-harm, and the list goes on.
◦ Their digitization and analysis of >10,000 sessions over the past 3 years provide a unique advantage to understanding progress by the therapist, by method (online vs offline), intervention method, and demographics. These insights feed into the training offerings.
