This week, we had the unique opportunity to speak with a Sound an Energy Healer for the first time. Our interviewee was Luna Rukmini Devi – an internationally recognized Sound Healer, Meditation Instructor and Energy Healer based in Los Angeles, CA.
When did you first know that being a Sound and Energy Healer was your calling and how did it come about?
I was working in a very stressful job in the corporate world and had been looking for a change for a long time. I was already on a spiritual path and had practiced a lot of meditation and healing modalities but I knew I wanted something deeper. I attended my first soundbath in LA and the experience was incredible! I immediately felt the effect on my body, mind and soul and I felt a tremendous curiosity for learning what was behind the amazing journey I had just gone through. I felt called to learn and study right away
Could you provide some more insight into your sessions – for instance, how does a Sound Healing session look like?
My main offering at the moment is a 3-month 1:1 program for women, which focuses on helping them transition From Fear to Freedom and includes ancestral healing, subconscious reprogramming, emotional education, sound healing, life coaching and other profound healing modalities. Although this is all conducted online, it is very deep inner work and it’s been super successful!
As far as sound healing specifically, I offer different types of sessions – individual and group and they can be very different from one another. Individual sessions are customized and include other healing modalities such as chakra alignment, meditation, breathwork, etc. In these sessions we may focus on specific ailments and treat specific parts of the body with some instruments.
Group sessions, or soundbaths, are like a high-vibrational acoustic concert. It is a profound journey towards a state of relaxation, meditation and personal connection. Customers are invited to comfortably lie on their backs with their eyes closed and fully surrender to the experience. At the beginning I guide them with a meditation to drop into a state of greater connection and release all tensions and worries, and then I take them through the journey of sounds.
I use an array of instruments that includes gongs, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, tuning forks, crystal pyramids, chimes, drums, rainstick, shakers, and more.
Currently, I am offering group soundbaths online as a part of my Moon ceremonies and/or privately for family gatherings, baby blessings, birthday celebrations, bachelorettes, etc. These sessions can last between 45 to 90 minutes and by the end people feel very relaxed, connected and grateful. It is a very nice experience!
What can a person expect from a session, and what are the main benefits of Sound and Energy Healing?
After a session, people usually feel relaxed and lighter, more in-tune with their inner self, and full of bliss, love and positivity. Body ailments can significantly improve as well – it can help relieve back pain, headaches, tension, etc.
Group sessions also include a lot of sharing which can be very healing for the attendees, providing an opportunity to voice their feelings and receive support.
Sound healing can benefit us on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The vibrations of sound work on a cellular level to help increase awareness and clarity, clear blockages, balance the chakra centers and recalibrate our entire being. Other benefits include reducing stress and anxiety, strengthening nervous and immune systems, improving mood and balancing emotions, increasing radiance, energy and vitality and improving sleep quality. Just like with every therapy, continuity is very important. The more soundbaths you experience, the more relaxed, calmed, healed, aligned and harmonious you will become!
What is the most important detail in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers?
Being authentic, open and honest. When you show up in your Authentic Self, you allow for others to do so as well. This helps customers feel more supported, understood and safe and it also strengthens the connection with them.
What do you love most about your profession?
Connection and community. I meet new people all the time and I have been able to build a beautiful community which has been a true blessing, especially this year where there’s been so much separation. This has given me the ability to connect, guide and support others as well as an amazing opportunity to experience unity, sharing and collective healing.
Do you have a special message for our readers in these difficult times?
I invite everyone to stay present and to be in commUNITY. Covid times have taught us (among many other things) that the only moment that matters is NOW. Being supported is key, and having a community that can hold space for you will help you tremendously, in so many ways. You do not have to do this alone. Reach out for help, invest in yourself (time, energy and money if needed), trust, trust, trust, and be patient. I love you.
