Achieving balance in yoga classes is about seamlessly merging physical postures with mindfulness. I fuse strength-building asanas with reflective pauses, intention-setting, and affirmations to nurture both body and spirit. Regardless of life’s chaos, the blend of restorative and challenging poses instills confidence and a sense of ease, leaving students feeling empowered, clear and at peace after every session.
Can you share a favorite mindfulness or breathing exercise that you often incorporate into your yoga sessions?
A cherished mindfulness practice involves deep belly breathing, also known as diaphragmatic breathing. It’s a straightforward yet potent exercise: Inhale deeply through the nose, allowing the belly to expand, then exhale slowly through the nose, cultivating a profound sense of calm. To enhance this practice, participants can place one hand on the heart and the other on the belly. This connection helps individuals align the happenings in their hearts with their gut (intuition), ultimately quieting the chatter in the head. It’s a simple technique with powerful effects.
In what ways do you encourage your students to carry the principles of yoga beyond the mat into their daily lives?
Beyond the yoga mat, I stress the importance of integrating yoga principles into everyday life. This involves practicing mindful breathing during moments of stress, embracing gratitude, setting intentions to achieve goals, repeating affirmations, and embodying grace. These practices contribute to a holistic lifestyle, creating a supportive environment for meditation, contemplation, and journaling thoughts as they arise.
What elements do you prioritize to create a holistic and rejuvenating experience for participants in your wellness retreats?
In our holistic retreats, we cherish the beauty of nature, embracing waterfalls, the ocean, hikes, and soul-enriching cacao ceremonies. Alongside savoring wholesome cuisine, engaging in yoga, and exploring spiritual realms, our focus is on creating a haven for self-discovery and rejuvenation. Equally essential is nurturing connections with kindred spirits, guaranteeing that no one embarks on their journey feeling alone in this vast world.

Witnessing personal transformations is the heart of retreats. A standout moment was a participant overcoming self-doubt through yoga, and spiritual life coaching, fostering newfound confidence that rippled into their daily life. That client has been on 3 of our retreats, and the transformation from never having left their home country to now thinking about relocating abroad has been an honor to be a part of. It’s like watching a superhero origin story, and I’m here for every moment of it!
