Have you been dealing with chronic pain, stress, or emotional baggage? This post is for you! Kinesiology therapy might be the key to unlocking your body’s natural healing abilities.
Join Mystic Mag as we chat with Kayanda, an EMK practitioner who uses a holistic approach to wellness. You’ll learn what kinesiology is, how it works, and the amazing benefits it can have on your mind and body.
When did you first know that being a Kinesiology Therapist was your calling and how did it come about?
To be honest I didn’t know much about it at all until it was suggested to me to come and try by a very dear friend. I was going through some BIG personal things with both family stress and my body was screaming at me through neck and back injuries. I obviously wasn’t listening to the gentle nudges so my body threw me messages I could not ignore, pain that made every day a struggle in my corporate medical career of close to 20yrs at that stage.
I went along to an “intro course” and within minutes knew that it was completely my vibe. I have always been into natural therapies for myself and family as a first choice and usually only resorted to modern medicine out of necessity. This introductory course just affirmed everything my mind and body knew at its core, but I had just lost focus. So, one short course set me on the path with 100% commitment (because that’s how I roll) and I was the second graduate of Emotions & Metaphysical Kinesiology in SA.
What services do you offer?
I am an EMK practitioner, Reiki Master & Intuitive energy worker so I use a combination of all of these in any session, whatever the body/client needs.
What exactly is Kinesiology Therapy and how does it work?
Kinesiology is a very gentle natural therapy that uses your own body’s biofeedback to identify imbalances through muscle testing.
What this means simply is that we ask your body questions, and, through muscle indication, your body essentially tells us what’s out of whack, where, why and what it needs to release the blockage and restore balance. We are working with YOUR energy so whatever tests up is what your body is ready to release so we deal with that as the priority for the session.
Does Kinesiology also positively affect mental wellbeing?
100% yes! The entire basis of EMK is that all mental and physical ailments have an emotional connection, if we can release/neutralize the emotional trigger attached to the issue the mind and body have amazing self-healing abilities, we just need to get out of the way and let it do the thing it was designed to do, heal itself.
It has been proven time and time again that emotional stress release/balance has a profound positive impact both mentally and physically.
What can a person expect from your sessions?
Every session and client is different, but all in clinic sessions consist of relaxing fully clothed on the very comfortable bed, in a safe space and going through some questions, experiencing healing techniques like color therapy, sound therapy, acupressure, gentle touch, heat, aromatherapy and more. An online client can relax comfortably in their own home in front of a device with video/audio.
What every client can expect, is to leave a session feeling lighter and better equipped to deal with the stresses that come their way moving forward. Kinesiology is not a one size fits or fixes all, healing is a long winding road with constant new additions as we navigate this life thing. Kinesiology is a gentle but very effective way to shift the emotional baggage and use, in a practical way, the learnings of each and every session in the days/weeks lifetime to follow.
What do you love most about your profession?
Oh gosh, what don’t I love? I love that I can help humans live life lighter, more freely and happier! I love empowering my clients with the learnings in sessions to self-care in so many other areas of their worlds. I love that my clients entrust me to be part of their healing process. I love that I get to play with all the beautiful things nature provides (and clever humans create) as tools to assist the healing, like crystals, smells, sound tools, flower essence, color tools, and the list goes on. Most of all – I love that my work is not work, it is pure joy!
