Today, Mystic Mag had the opportunity to interview Juliana Ericson, Positive Mindset Coach and Breathwork Facilitator. We talked about her beginnings, what services she offers, and what she loves most about her profession.
When did you first know that being a Life Coach was your calling and how did it come about?
There was a time in my life where everything had fallen apart. My fiancé turned out to be taking advantage of me funding his company and I lost thousands of dollars, which was a huge amount of my inheritance. I had to sell my dream home to recoup some of the money, my daughter pretty much disowned me, my self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth was about zero. I was in a deep depression and didn’t know how to get out. I was also very ashamed and angry with myself. Hopeless. Literally a quiet voice came to me and said you can put your life together differently, you don’t have to do it the same.
Within 3 weeks I found Rebirthing Breathwork and I haven’t looked back. That was 27 years ago. A year or so after I began my private sessions, I took the Breathworker Training, not to become one, but to learn the tools and methods of how to manage life which I hadn’t been taught. I needed a plan to follow, so to speak.
Within a year after that training people began telling me how great and happy I looked – What had I been doing, a new boyfriend? (Lol) Instead of a lover, what they were seeing was me beginning to love myself. When I told them what I was learning, they asked me to do a Rebirthing session for them. At first I did it for free, but after a while I began to see it was a unique and powerful method that could be an occupation for me.
What services do you offer?
I flew all over the U.S. to take classes and workshops from the best Rebirthers in the world. After several years of seeing clients 1:1, I began giving weekend workshops, flying in my teachers to co-lead with me.
Now I teach people myself in an annual Rebirthing Breathworker program, lead multi-weekend Life Mastery Programs, weekend workshops, lead Corporate group breathes. I also give talks on the benefits of Breathwork, Pre & Perinatal Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Forgiveness, which are the 4 cornerstones of the work I teach.
What exactly is PreNatal/Birth Psychology?
Prenatal and Birth Psychology began about a century ago in Europe. It’s about the connection we have as adults to what our life was like en utero: what was going on in our mother’s life directly influenced us as adults. Most people understand that what the pregnant mother eats, drinks goes through her bloodstream, through the placenta and into the baby. So the baby is eating and drinking what the mother is. That holds true also for if the mother is taking drugs, even prescribed, smoking.
The Psychological piece to this is that what the mother was thinking and feeling is transmitted to the fetus via her neurohormones, creating an emotional template that we still have as adults. For instance, if the parents have a loving and peaceful relationship, the mom is sending out positive neurohormones like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. If the parents fight a lot, if the mom is angry or scared a lot, she creates an excessive amount of adrenaline and cortisol.
This essentially programs the fetus that “life isn’t safe” “life is scary” “relationships aren’t safe” etc. This preverbal programming is very, very deep in our subconscious. That’s why Rebirthing Breathwork is so powerful, because it goes to the thoughts beneath the thoughts and can reveal these hidden programs, then we can reprogram them with various tools available.
What can a person expect from your sessions?
A Rebirthing Breathwork session consists of 2 hours: one hour of coaching and one hour of Breathwork. In the coaching hour, I use my training and intuition to help the client gently drop into that subconscious world. Usually they don’t even know I’m guiding them there. Often people will say “I hadn’t thought of that in years!” Or “How did THAT come up?!”.
Each session of the 10-session program focuses on a different part of their life: Relationships, mother, father, siblings, self-esteem & healthy boundaries, their dreams & desires, etc. After the hour, the use of the somatic tool Breathwork is just perfect! What was uncovered energetically in the hour, will be breathed out in the Breathwork session. Healing doesn’t have to be hard, nor does it have to take years to feel better. 99% of my 2,000+ clients leave their sessions feeling lifted, energized, hopeful, loving, expansive, peaceful and happy.
What is the most important detail in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with clients?
The most important detail of maintaining trust with a client is to see them as already healed – see them as innocent and holy. They feel that. They are more likely to trust me when they see I’m not judging them. When they trust me, they’ll go deeper faster. They’ll try things I suggest, which they may not have done with someone else, because they trust me.
What do you love most about your profession?
I love having a purposeful and meaningful occupation. I enjoy getting up each morning knowing I’m adding to the forward direction of the consciousness of the planet.
