Everybody’s Better was founded by Judith Johnson to revolutionize the approach to muscle and soft tissue release in South West Wales, offering a gentle, hands-on alternative to traditional therapies.
The practice’s mission, as shared in her interview with MysticMag, is to support individuals in achieving their wellness goals through the EMMETT Technique and Restore Scar Therapy, providing customized treatments that enhance recovery and improve quality of life. With over 20 years of experience in complementary therapy and a background in Occupational Therapy, Judith offers a unique blend of expertise to her clients, including specialized care for both people and animals.
Every treatment at Everybody’s Better is tailored to the individual, ensuring that each client receives the most effective and compassionate care possible.
What inspired the creation of Everybody’s Better and what is its main mission?
Every Body’s Better was established to create a very different way of offering muscle and soft tissue release treatments in comparison to the traditional forms of therapy that were available in my part of South West Wales. Its main mission is to provide gentle, hands-on therapies to complement any other form of treatment being received by potential clients.
How does Everybody’s Better support individuals in achieving their wellness goals?
Every Body’s Better provides the gentle techniques of EMMETT Therapy and Restore Scar Therapy. EMMETT Technique assists with restoring balance, improving range of movement, easing discomfort, releasing tension and stress, and enabling functional activities.
Scar Therapy helps with recovery after traumatic or surgical scars using very light massage techniques to reduce the effect that the scars have on both superficial and deep soft tissues.
Often these techniques are used in combination as each individual receives a bespoke treatment, depending on their needs. Not only does Judith offer the EMMETT Technique to people, but she also helps small animals with muscle and soft tissue issues.
What key features or services differentiate Everybody’s Better from other wellness platforms?
Individuals who use the services of Every Body’s Better will benefit from the depth of knowledge and skills that Judith has developed not only over the past 20 years of being a complementary therapist but also from her prior knowledge of helping a wide range of people during her career in Occupational Therapy.
Judith uses her lifelong learning and experience to improve independence and quality of life and support clients who are striving towards recovery following illness, accident or trauma. Not only does Judith offer treatments for people of all ages and with a range of issues, she also teaches the EMMETT Technique as an introductory course for self-care and at practitioner and advanced practitioner levels.
Judith was one of the first students of the EMMETT Technique in the UK, learning directly from its founder Ross Emmett, and being invited by him to share the knowledge with others.
Anyone using Every Body’s Better’s services can be assured that they are accessing high levels of skills and expertise. Judith is also happy to refer those people and animals who may need different skills to medical services or other therapists. Every Body’s Better is a truly complementary therapy service and the techniques used can be integrated with other treatments to enhance the progress of the client.
Can you share a success story where Everybody’s Better significantly improved someone’s well-being?
In the course of twenty years of offering complementary therapies, there are lots of
successes that could be shared. These include helping a young baby with severe neck restriction where the only medical option on offer was surgery to the muscle involved. The neck restriction was making the baby miserable and quite grumpy and when he was brought to see Judith, he thought that she would be another person who would be manipulating and stretching his painful neck.
After a short time of getting to know mother and baby, he was left in his mother’s arms whilst Judith gently made small switching movements to the SCM muscle (sternocleidomastoid muscle) using the EMMETT Technique. He immediately relaxed when he realized that this did not hurt him and after a few minutes of more gentle switches, his neck was turning both ways to look around the room. His mother burst into tears and Judith was close to tears too in witnessing the result of such gentle and simple treatment. His mother brought him back for a check-up a month later and his range of movement had been retained and his wonderful sunny disposition was developing beautifully.
Children and adults of all ages are helped by Every Body’s Better. Her youngest client was 10 days old with a foot issue and her oldest was 96 years old and came regularly to maintain her independent mobility. Judith also enjoys helping sportspeople reach their full potential or recover from injury and has treated golfers, rugby players, archers, runners, cyclists, and IronMan competitors.
How does Everybody’s Better ensure the quality and effectiveness of its wellness programs?
Ensuring quality and effectiveness is a priority. Judith is constantly learning and developing her skills by attending courses both in person and online. Her main skills have been developed by learning from the founders of both EMMETT Technique and also Restore Scar Therapy. She has studied with them as often as possible.
What upcoming projects or features is Everybody’s Better excited about?
Judith is currently learning from the founder of Energetic Structural Balance, a new hands-on method of treating the body, developed by André Duckers of the Netherlands. She is excited to be able to start integrating these techniques within her bespoke treatments.
Having spent many years in the field of conventional medical treatments in the Health Service and believing that other therapies were a little too weird, Judith’s eyes have been well and truly opened over the past twenty years of learning complementary techniques to so many other possibilities in helping people and animals live to their full potential.
