Walter Kellenberger, an expert in the Universal Healing System, introduces us to the origins of TAOYOGA and its roots in ancient Taoist traditions. In his exclusive MysticMag interview, he explains the evolution of the system, the distinctions between Qigong and Inner Alchemy Qigong, and the profound impact of Taoist practices on personal health and spiritual development.
What is the story behind TAOYOGA and how was it founded?
I actually teach the Universal Healing System, formerly Healing Tao. Founded by Grandmaster Mantak Chia. The reason why I use the TaoYoga name for my website is that long time ago, when the German publisher wanted to translate Grandmaster Chia books to German, they did not like the translation Healing Tao into “Heilendes Tao”. At that time, nobody knew what Tao is, but they knew what Yoga was. That’s why they thought that the name Tao Yoga would be more attractive. I am Swiss and before I moved to Thailand, I taught in Switzerland and Germany. Therefore, I chose a common name that the German-speaking students could recognise.
The meaning of Healing Tao (Universal Healing Tao, Taoyoga) is a complete system that you can learn in a human education path. Compared to the normal school system, from Kindergarten to University, it allows you to learn how to take care of your body (health) and also learn to help others.
What is Inner Alchemy Qigong and what’s the difference between level 1 and level 2 practitioners?
Level 1 is for beginners, who can then advance to Level 2. However, I think it’s more interesting to understand the differences between Qigong and “Inner Alchemy Qigong”.
Qigong is more of an outer form. That begs the question, “What is more important, the bowl or the content?” Inner Alchemy reflects more the content. Alchemy is the description of two different forces creating a new force. You need plus/minus (yin/yang) to create Chi. This process happens inside your body.
What other courses do you offer?
I also teach Meditation such as Inner Smile, 6 Healing Sounds, and Fusion of the 5 Elements and Eight Forces.
What is your most popular course, how is it structured, and what makes it unique?
My famous workshop is “Taoist secrets of Love” for males and females. In it, people can learn to transform their sexual energy into life force and receive, as a side effect, a multiorgasm feeling in the organs, brain, and entire body.
These practices are designed primarily to keep you in good health or become even healthier.
However, the next step is to prepare a person for what follows their death (in the sense of the taoist understanding of immortality). We can consider this part of the teachings as spiritual development.
