How do you integrate Bach Flower remedies into your personalized training programs? Can you provide examples of how these remedies have enhanced clients’ experiences and outcomes?
The Bach Flower remedies are, at first, a personal journey. So it’s really about learning about yourself, about emotions, and about how you feel. In my practice, I help people understand what they’re feeling. I listen to how they put into words what they’re going through. Therefore, the Bach remedies are truly a very good way to understand yourself because the only real healer is yourself, and it’s through knowledge of who you are and how you’re feeling and reacting to things in life that you learn to be at peace with yourself. Consequently, you can be healthy and everything’s fine. So yes, how do we go about with the remedies? It’s through an interview. How do you feel now? What’s going on? It’s not the history of the person that’s important but how they are going through it and how they are feeling.
In what ways do you incorporate humanist hypnosis techniques into your coaching sessions? Could you share a success story where humanist hypnosis played a pivotal role in helping a client achieve their goals?
Humanist hypnosis is a very particular sort of hypnosis because it’s about open consciousness. It’s not about putting you to sleep and then saying very special things that will change your life. No, it’s about waking you up. It’s about being so awake and conscious of yourself and life that you find your own path. It’s also a philosophy. When you practice humanist hypnosis, you live a philosophy that is very close to that of Bach Flower remedies in the sense that it’s also about consciousness, knowing yourself, understanding your emotions, and how life functions.
It’s a way of asking questions, of being present to the other person, and helping them find their own way because everybody has a path, and everybody must find it. I have mine, and it works for me, but it won’t work for anybody else.
I once had a client who came to me because he was very afraid of traveling by plane. He was living in one country, and his family was in another. Traveling by bus, boat, and train would take him two days, which was very complicated for him because he couldn’t fly to visit them. He really wanted the freedom to see them whenever he needed to, as family situations can be unpredictable. So he came to see me, and we used hypnosis. What’s fascinating about his journey is that it opened up many things for him, and he found his way. We had three or four sessions together, where he opened his mind, soul, and consciousness with my guidance. When he came back, he said, “I’ve figured it out. Now I’m free. I can fly.” It’s really about allowing the person to find their own way and finding freedom through that process.
What type of services do you offer?
My main business is training; I train practitioners. I train individuals to become practitioners in Bach Flowers and in Humanist hypnosis. Additionally, I supervise practitioners who are working with these tools. I also meet people one on one. I believe that you can only teach something that you practice, so I also provide personal sessions. People come to me for various reasons; some come just for the remedies because sometimes you just want to speak about your emotions and take the flowers. Others express an interest in hypnosis, so we’ll do a hypnosis session. And there are those who come to me because someone recommended my services, but they’re unsure of what I do, so I tailor the session to their needs.
Bach Flower remedies are often associated with emotional well-being. How do you use these remedies to address emotional blocks or challenges that may hinder clients’ progress in achieving their fitness or wellness goals?
Emotions can uplift us, but they can also hinder our progress. When we find ourselves blocked by our emotions, the typical human response is to avoid confronting them and push them aside. However, the entire Bach system encourages us to acknowledge these blockages and face them head-on. We’re prompted to recognize that there is something there, and it requires our attention. This process is likened to peeling an onion. We start with what’s on the surface, addressing what’s immediately visible. Then, we proceed to take care of that layer, balancing it with the remedies, before moving on to the next layer, and so forth. This approach is very gentle because it respects the individual’s pace. There’s no rush to unearth deep-rooted issues prematurely. Therapy, or any form of self-care, is viewed as a journey taken one step at a time. What’s most important is the path toward well-being, which fosters personal growth. There’s no reliance on a magic wand to fix everything instantly, as true growth occurs through the process of learning and experiencing.
How do you stay updated with the latest developments and research in Bach Flowers, humanist hypnosis, and posture correction?
Well, with the Bach remedies, Dr. Bach passed away in 1938, so it’s been a long time. However, I believe it was Leonardo da Vinci who said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication,” and the Bach remedies epitomize this simplicity. Yet, it’s exceedingly challenging to maintain this simplicity with people. It’s about the entire journey of keeping things at their core, adhering to simplicity, returning to basics, and embracing the essentials. Being interested in humanity, in humans, is something that keeps you constantly aware. So, I’m always learning. I learn through my own experiences, but I also learn through the experiences of my students and those I accompany.
Humanity is always present, and life is akin to a grand game. You’re continually learning and interacting with emotions. As for humanist hypnosis, it was Olivier Lockert and Patricia D’Angeli who created that approach.
I periodically return to school to update my knowledge, especially when training others, to stay abreast of new developments, etcetera. Practice enables me to continually learn. Additionally, I ensure to take care of myself, seeking supervision and reflection when encountering challenging cases.
My other activity involves bioenergetics analysis through postural adjustment. It’s a journey towards self-discovery, learning to be as neutral as possible. If something occurs, I aim not to react but to accompany the movement and remain conscious of what’s happening. With this, I’ve been training for a few years now, and I always return to explore new themes and experiments, further enriching my understanding.
How do you practice self-care to maintain your own well-being?
I engage in various activities, which has taken me a long time to realize. For a considerable period, I was heavily occupied with assisting others. After a few years, I came to the realization that in order to help others effectively, I must begin by helping myself. Therefore, the first step I take is to allocate time for myself. Sometimes, the challenge lies in being busy with work, assisting others, and managing daily life. Hence, I prioritize setting aside time in my schedule for self-care, preferably every day. This includes activities such as meditation and journaling, which allow me to pause, reflect, and gain clarity on what’s happening in my life.
Another crucial aspect is honesty. While I naturally tend to be optimistic, I make a conscious effort to assess both the positives and areas for improvement. Instead of dismissing issues with a casual “it’s okay,” I strive to acknowledge what could be better.
Recognizing the interconnectedness of all things, I understand the importance of seeking help when needed. Despite being capable of accomplishing much on my own, I recognize that there are limits to what I can do independently. Therefore, I’m proactive in reaching out for assistance when required. This may involve attending training sessions, seeking massages, or consulting with therapists. I’ve come to understand that while I can achieve a lot independently, some tasks are best tackled collaboratively. We are all part of a larger network, and it’s through collective effort that we can truly make a difference.
