For those unfamiliar with them, can you explain what Vedic Gemstones are?
Astrological gemstones are believed to harness and transmit the energies of the planets in our solar system, enhancing the positive influences and mitigating the negative ones in a person’s astrological chart and in their daily lives. Think of them as cosmic tools, chosen to bring balance and harmony to the wearer based on karmic patterns interpreted in the planetary configurations of their birth chart.
What’s the story behind Astrological Gem International? How was the company founded?
Astrological Gem was founded by Jay Boyle in 1997, with a vision to provide authentic, high-quality, natural astrological gemstones to the masses. Jay’s journey began when he encountered a Vedic astrologer who introduced him to the concept of using gemstones as astrological remedies. Intrigued by this idea, Jay began testing the recommended gemstones on himself and had incredible results that intrigued and inspired him. Driven by this newfound passion and his belief in the effectiveness of Vedic gems, Jay founded Astrological Gem International. The company’s mission to this day is to offer genuine, high-quality gemstones that are handpicked for quality, potency, effectiveness, and affordability.
I joined the Astrological Gem team in 2006, initially as our webmaster and photographer. At the time, I was skeptical of the idea that wearing gemstones could truly have an impact on people’s lives. My doubts faded away as I started hearing the transformative experiences that our clients were having. I decided to experiment by testing out every type of astrological gemstones on myself to gauge the effects they’d have on me, and I was shocked at how influential these gems could be, for better or for worse.
This personal experimentation led me to dive deeper into the realm of Vedic Astrology starting in 2012. Seeking to understand the mechanisms of how these gems worked, and to learn how to accurately predict the results of gemstones in accordance with the wearer’s astrological chart, I dedicated myself to studying the principles of Vedic Astrology for the next two years. By 2014, I had transitioned into the role of Head of Sales at Astrological Gem International, offering insight and guidance to all of our customers to ensure they were wearing the safest and most effective gemstones possible.
Today, I am proud to be recognized as one of the most esteemed Vedic Gemologists in the United States. With a wealth of experience, I have served thousands of clients by providing personalized and comprehensive gemstone consultations. What different gemstones do you have on offer and what type of jewelry can be made with them?
Astrological Gem offers a specific collection of gemstones, each associated with the planets in Vedic astrology. Some of the main gems we sell are:

Rings are the most common, as each finger corresponds to a planet in Vedic tradition, but we find that pendants work just as well, and can be worn under clothing for discretion. The only rule is that the gemstones need to lightly touch the skin when worn, allowing light and color frequencies to transmit through the jewelry and into the energy field of the wearer. How does a person decide which gemstone is right for them and which would you say is the most popular one?
Deciding which gemstone is right for an individual typically involves a consultation with a Vedic Gemologist, which is what I do. During this consultation, I’ll assess your individual birth chart to determine the positions and influences of the planets that we want to strengthen with gemstones. I’ll choose gems that will be most likely to bring support in areas of health, relationships, career, or any other intentions you might have for wearing Vedic gemstones. Sharing any goals, challenges, and personal preferences is always welcome, I will weave that into the consultation to ensure we get you exactly what you need.
It’s important to get a consultation with a highly qualified Vedic Gemologist because not all gemstones work for every astrological chart. In fact, wearing the wrong gemstone can produce detrimental results, so it’s very important to know exactly why certain planets are being strengthened and what types of outcomes to expect.
I would say yellow sapphire is the most popular gemstone, which strengthens Jupiter in astrology. Jupiter is considered one of the most beneficial planets in astrology, promoting wealth, abundance, harmony, and success in many areas of life. Its benefits appeal to many people and it can be used for many astrological configurations. Blue sapphires are also very popular, the gemstone for Saturn, which is associated with discipline, focus, and patience. But Saturn can be a much more challenging planet in astrology, being a stern teacher of important life lessons, so we want to be sure that blue sapphires are worn with caution and mindfulness in most cases.
What is in store for the company going forward?
The future success of Astrological Gem will be shaped by our ability to adapt to changing market dynamics, meet the evolving needs of our customers, and uphold our commitment to authenticity, quality, and customer satisfaction. Natural, untreated gemstones are becoming increasingly rare, and prices for premium materials continue to break all-time high records. We do our best to offer the very finest natural gemstones at the most accessible prices possible, but it is always an endeavor to find inventory that is the quality we require at a price point we can sell to the public competitively. We’d like to find gemstones that are more affordable so we can reach a wider audience, as natural precious gemstones are a considerable investment, but we won’t offer anything that we don’t believe will truly work for these purposes. So it’s a very interesting time to be in the business.
Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?
Vedic gemstones are utilized for their profound healing properties, but I think it’s important to note that gemstones do not work for us, they work with us. They are potent tools for aligning ourselves with cosmic energies and higher principles as represented by the planets in our solar system.
When we wear an astrological gemstone with the intention of calling in success and accomplishment, we enter into a symbiotic relationship with the gemstone and its energy. The gemstone acts as a catalyst, amplifying our intentions and helping to clear any subconscious blocks that may be hindering our path to success, while also attuning us to the best possible outcome in accordance with the planetary significations the gemstone represents.
By wearing an astrological gemstone, we invite its frequencies to resonate with our own energy field, bringing any hidden inner imbalances to the surface of our awareness that we need to address. This heightened awareness allows us to identify and address any underlying issues that may be holding us back from achieving our goals, whether they’re limiting beliefs, past traumas, or negative patterns of thought and behavior.
