Caruthers, CEO/Founder & Healing Coach at Metanoia Innovative Solutions, LLC, and discover the profound healing potential of breathwork and Theta Healing in catalyzing personal growth, empowerment, and self-realization.

Can you share a personal experience where breathwork or theta healing had a profound impact on your life, and how did it inspire you to become a Healing Coach?

Breathwork has been transformative for me. It was the first time I could connect my emotions and feel safe in my body. Despite my extensive background as a nurse for almost 15 years, where I focused on trauma-informed care and therapy, I still struggled with emotional disconnection, even as a mom and a nurse. I could function well in certain capacities, but when it came to my own emotions, it was non-existent.

Breathwork allowed me, for the first time in my adult life, to truly connect and process emotions. I appreciate it because not everything needs to be verbally discussed. While I will never speak negatively against talk therapy, breathwork allows emotions to surface without having to delve into every incident that upset me or made me feel a certain way; the breath does the work.

On the flip side, Theta Healing came into my life when I started working with a spiritual mentor. Initially unfamiliar with it, I now hold three different certifications in it. I was amazed by the power of this meditation method and how healing it was. Efficiency is crucial for me, being a Virgo, and the very first session with my mentor was a revelation. That was Theta Healing, they said, and experiencing it in that relationship led me to pursue certifications.

These sessions, both with breathwork and Theta Healing, prompted me to bring these transformative experiences to others. After my own initial experiences, I sought out training to build access and awareness. I wanted people to know that there are alternative methods to transform their lives, and it’s essential to find what feels right for them.

Metanoia Innovative Solutions seems to emphasize innovation in healing. How do you integrate new approaches or techniques into your practice to provide unique and effective healing experiences for your clients?

I genuinely believe in meeting people where they are, and I say that as a woman of color who was raised in a Christian environment. Despite being brought up with a strong Christian background, I still hold onto my belief in God, and religion has always played a role in my life in some way, shape, or form. I even attended Catholic school for several years, where I was explicitly taught that healing only occurred through God, Jesus, and the church. Anything outside those four walls was considered witchcraft, the work of the devil, and a path to hell.

As an adult and a mother, I had to navigate through my own fears and processing, contemplating how I wanted to approach spirituality and healing. I had to model for myself and others how I wanted to access this, recognizing that as a person of color, cultural beliefs would influence my perspective. There was a prevailing notion that certain practices were not acceptable within our culture.

However, over time, my beliefs evolved. I came to realize that healing doesn’t have to be confined to praying, worshiping, or engaging in idolatry. Despite my continued belief in God, I’ve incorporated practices like meditation, crystals in my house, and candles. These aspects have not altered my core beliefs. I see God as the provider of the universe, allowing me to work with anyone who doesn’t consider themselves divine. I respect various interpretations, often using terms like God, universe, source, creator, or pure love essence interchangeably in my content.

I can work with individuals who are open to exploring spirituality in their own way. In my content, I frequently mention different terms, understanding that everyone may have their unique understanding. I also offer services like Oracle and tarot readings, but I respect those who are not interested in such practices, as I myself had reservations just two years ago. I am open to accommodating conversations, challenging individuals when necessary, but always respecting their comfort levels and avoiding pushing them beyond their willingness to explore.

What type of services do you offer?

I do offer coaching, and I often find myself toggling between terms like transformational and healing. However, I’ve come to the realization that the label I use as a life coach isn’t the crucial aspect; what matters is that I provide coaching encompassing breathwork, Theta Healing, and Reiki. I am in the final stages of my Reiki master journey, which will be completed in a couple of weeks.

I am trained in all three modalities, and I have a deep appreciation for astrology and human design, incorporating them into both my personal life and business. There are instances when I discuss astrological influences in a way that’s easy to understand. Astrology can be incredibly complex, even for someone studying it, but I strive to make it accessible. For example, if someone asks me about the current moon placement, I might reply, “The moon is in Libra right now,” and upon their query about its significance, I delve into their chart, explaining its impact on their 11th house, and so on.

My goal is to empower people, providing them with a safe avenue to reclaim their power. If they are interested in clearing obstacles or manifesting intentions more intentionally and powerfully, I encourage them to explore these aspects further. I believe in guiding individuals to dive deeper into these elements so that they can take meaningful steps toward achieving their goals.

As a Healing Coach, how do you tailor your approach to meet the specific needs and challenges of each client, considering that everyone’s healing journey is unique?

It all boils down to the openness and willingness in that initial conversation. Most of my conversations begin on social media, revolving around some common interest. Once we transition to an actual phone call, many people start with my free enlightenment call, which is a 30-minute session. During this time, my focus is primarily on setting the stage for understanding their intentions and getting to know them better. It’s not about turning it into a 27-minute sales pitch for my program. Instead, I inquire about what’s on their mind, how I can support them, and offer value based on my knowledge and expertise.

When clients choose to continue working with me, we collaborate to shape the journey according to their desires. My ultimate goal is to guide individuals toward a life of fulfillment, recognizing that this looks different for everyone. Despite being competitive, I operate with the understanding that clients often engage with various professionals. Working with me is advantageous due to my extensive network, although I may not be an expert in every field. For instance, if human design resonates with them, I can refer them to an expert in that area.

I am comfortable staying within my expertise and setting clear boundaries to define expectations. This ensures that both the client and I are aligned, working towards the desired result. My satisfaction lies in witnessing the impactful changes and transitions in my clients’ lives. Becoming a coach was not driven by financial motives or a desire for leisure; it is fueled by a genuine passion for creating impact and helping people change their lives. I am fully committed to the work involved and consider it an honor and privilege to serve in this capacity.

Can you elaborate on the role of breathwork in your practice and how it contributes to the overall well-being and transformation of individuals?

Yeah, breathwork – I practice what I preach. So, all the modalities that I offer, I regularly partake in them, sometimes even daily. But I engage in them consistently. I’m also someone who always emphasizes the idea of healing as a continuous journey. In the case of breathwork, clients may have experiences where they become highly emotional. Some feedback I’ve received includes statements like, “I didn’t cry this time. I feel really grounded or powerful.” I love breathwork and enjoy infusing it because the breath serves as the medicine. Regardless of one’s experience with breathwork, neither of us has control over how the session unfolds, what emotions surface, or the direction it takes. While setting intentions is encouraged, I personally enter a breathwork session with an open mind, letting whatever needs to come up for release or processing unfold for my highest and best good. I refer to it as a journey because it truly is.

Holding space for people during this process is incredible. I provide time at the end for individuals to talk and process, making myself available for the following days. It’s an unpredictable yet controlled experience where participants feel a sense of safety to allow things to come up. For example, one session may lead to a reparenting vision, while the next might evoke a sense of empowerment as if standing on top of the world, capable of anything. All experiences are welcome, and I ensure to hold space for whatever arises.

The mind-body connection is a central theme in healing practices. How do you help clients bridge the gap between emotional healing and physical well-being through your coaching and therapies?

It’s a truly multifaceted approach. Using breathwork as an example, one of the advantages is that I can provide exercises for individuals to practice on their own. While working with me for an extended period is an option, the ultimate aim is to empower them to self-regulate after the program concludes. I focus on helping them build a skill set and toolkit tailored to their needs. For instance, they may recognize certain feelings emerging days after a breathwork session when back at work. Being able to identify these emotions is crucial, and they learn to resource themselves, whether it’s taking a moment outside, putting their feet in the grass, or simply taking an extra three minutes in the car – particularly relatable for busy parents who appreciate that brief time of solitude before entering the house.

These small practices contribute to expanding and maintaining the mind-body-spirit connection. Strengthening this connection has led me to personally desire healthier habits, such as a better diet and increased water consumption, recognizing the importance of taking care of my physical body. The goal is to enable individuals to create a sense of safety within themselves, facilitating the ability to navigate the demands of the external world.

Recognizing the impact of the subconscious mind, which scientifically influences our lives more than we might think, is crucial. Exploring the subconscious allows individuals to uncover patterns and make conscious choices about what serves them. While some patterns may offer benefits, others may not, and the aim is to let go of what doesn’t contribute positively to their well-being.

This holistic approach stems from my background as a nurse, acknowledging that all aspects matter. If one element is out of balance, it affects others. The ultimate goal is to achieve a state of homeostasis, where all aspects work together harmoniously.
