What inspired you to pursue a career in hypnotherapy and coaching? Can you share any personal experiences or turning points that led you to this path?
I would say that my inspiration was the difference it made in my life for healing and growth. So, I worked with the shaman for many, many years to support me in restoring my sense of hope and gratitude for living life. The beauty and magic of that experience were so impactful and immense that I couldn’t help but want to be of service to others who struggle in a similar way. What I found with hypnosis is that it allows me to teach my clients how to heal and support themselves. It truly gives them the inner authority of knowing their own innate truth and trusting it. So, it brings me joy to be of service in that way.
As a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Coach, you specialize in transpersonal conversations for healing, growth, and transformation. Could you explain what transpersonal conversations entail and how they differ from conventional therapy or coaching approaches?
“Transpersonal” pertains to a philosophy or belief that acknowledges our multifaceted sense of self. We can embody both the innocence and curiosity of an inner child, as well as the wisdom and fortitude of a grandparent. By leveraging these aspects of ourselves, we can parent our inner child in ways that may have been lacking during our upbringing. This approach, known as the transpersonal way of healing, acknowledges that perhaps our parents were unable to provide us with what we desired or deserved.
With the knowledge we have now, we can reach back to the hurt part of ourselves from the past and provide the care and nurturing it may have lacked. This process is akin to reparenting oneself. It not only honors the innocence within us, bringing it into the present so we can embrace creativity and joy as adults, but also acknowledges the adult within us capable of generosity and kindness. This reciprocal reverence allows us to embrace our whole being.
When we integrate all aspects of ourselves, including those that are critical and judgmental, we no longer push them away or deny their existence. Instead, we respect and trust what they are trying to communicate. The judgmental part of ourselves often seeks to protect us, and by understanding its perspective with the wisdom of an inner grandparent, we can explore why it feels the need to protect and what it is safeguarding. This understanding enables us to utilize all aspects of ourselves to support the tender, innocent parts and give them a voice.
What type of services do you offer?
The majority of it is actually just a simple conversation, but within that, there are elements of Reiki, energy healing, shamanic energy healing, as well as journeying. So, it involves a lot of imagination along with hypnosis, which also utilizes the imagination. With each of these techniques, I work with all layers of consciousness, not just our present conscious awareness of the now, but also our superconscious, which encompasses the big picture, the awareness of everything included in being here today, as well as the unconscious and the subconscious.
These parts of us run in the background to make our lives easier. However, if we lack awareness of these processes operating in the background, they can inadvertently cause us to stumble as we strive for growth in life. Our innate human design includes fears such as fear of the unknown, fear of risk, and fear of change. If we don’t recognize that these fears are operating unconsciously, they can hinder us when we try to pursue new opportunities, relationships, or endeavors.
By bringing these unconscious programs into consciousness, we gain choice. We can take risks, but they become educated risks rather than reckless leaps. For instance, instead of blindly jumping off a cliff hoping to fly, we can leverage our understanding that humans don’t fly. Instead, we can engage in activities like bungee jumping, paragliding, hang-gliding, or skydiving, all with appropriate resources and tools to ensure safety and enhance the experience of risk-taking in a better way.
Your tagline, “Be the person you always dreamed you could be,” is powerful. How do you guide your clients toward realizing their full potential and achieving their dreams through your coaching and hypnotherapy sessions?
We often consider ourselves to be identified with our own thoughts and perceptions, but we understand that there’s something more that we want or long for, and that actually resides within our own life force energy. Our heart beats for us 24/7 without ever stopping, utilizing the energy necessary for life to thrive within us. When we can trust our own life, which means trusting our nervous system, intuition, and instincts, we can leverage all the information they carry to guide us in amazing ways in this world.
We are not just intellectual bodies; we are an intelligence that operates continuously. However, this intelligence doesn’t communicate in logic but in sensation. I teach my clients the language of their own sensations to understand them as a compass or a barometer for what to do next, which direction to take, and at what pace to proceed. Their own life informs them about being themselves because, ultimately, we are the ones living our lives. If we lack joy, peace, reverence, excitement, and gratitude in our existence, then it’s not truly the best day ever.
How do you practice self-care to maintain your own wellbeing?
I take the time that my body needs for me to feel it—all my sensations—without interpreting them, making meaning of them, or even trying to understand them. Most of the time, we simply want to be felt. When we are felt, seen, heard, and listened to by another, let alone ourselves, we actually feel more alive, full, and relevant. So, I take the time to listen to my sensations, and I let them inform my actions. My body is in charge of my life, not my mind.
I also prioritize self-care. I get massages, go for walks every day, sleep, nap, and do what my body asks of me. I eat well, spend time with friends, and also take time to withdraw from social activities, depending on what my body’s asking of me because it’s in charge of my life; it is my life.
This approach is for anybody already on a path of seeking, those who are certain that life could be better but haven’t figured out how to make it so. They might be using tools, reading books, and trying methods, yet still experiencing a sensation of incompleteness. I would say that presenting oneself with unconditional love through the transpersonal lens will help complete that sense of incompleteness.
