How did you become an Energy Healer and a Spiritual Coach and what led you down the spiritual path?

I’ve always been a spiritual person. Organized religion didn’t fit my understanding of Creator-God. I found myself looking for more than the simple, almost child-like way churches represented our relationship with the Divine.

At about the same time, I was lost in my corporate job. My young kids no longer clamored to greet me when I came home. They didn’t really talk to me. Likewise, I was drifting from my wife becoming angry and overwhelmed with responsibilities.

I knew something had to change. I had this feeling something – some energy source – was out there. Fall of 2007 my wife suggested we go to a “woo woo” convention in Florida. Skeptical is an understatement. Still, I agreed. At the convention, I was introduced to the world of energy. Afterward, I met a man who practiced shamanic techniques with a very North American bent. The spirituality felt right to me.

I spent several years learning from him as well as other healing techniques. Around this time, I had a spiritual encounter. Sleeping under the stars, literally, I found myself moved to make a noise loud and long – a howling was coming from my throat. It didn’t sound human. A few minutes later, a large dark-colored wolf came just outside my camp circle. Our eyes locked. I swear it talked to me. Then I heard the trees speak as this huge presence joined me. I should have been scared, but I felt safe. I felt love, the peaceful accepting kind. I realized these were angels, guides here to help me recover my soul. I entered into a relationship with Spirit.

It wasn’t long afterward that I started doing healing work. Although my knowledge, intuition, and skills grew, something still wasn’t right. The missing piece was spirit. I had put my ego – I am the healer – in front of Creator. Spirit revealed how to combine my knowledge and skills with spiritual journeying. The healing sessions evolved into sacred work. I had taken the turn into the world of healing spiritual wounds.

I added coaching because many of my clients no longer needed to look to heal their past, but to build their future. From my perspective, what is life without spirituality? Spiritual Life coaching fit my philosophy to finding fulfillment. Happiness is a state of mind. That state of mind needs to be fulfilled spiritually as well as mentally and emotionally.

What specific services and therapies do you offer?

I am not a therapist in any sense of the word. I am a spiritual energy healer and coach. That simply means we find the spiritual wounds, or emotional traumas, and create interventions to change the energy patterns. The new patterns allow stuck emotions to flow replacing maladaptive patterns with healthy patterns. The client heals from the inside. As a coach, I help clients find their own way. Coaching is about asking questions to uncover what has been buried in terms of dreams, wants, and desires. We sift through the should wants to the real wants. Then we make plans to achieve the real wants.

Energy Healing is very personal and sacred. As the healer, I need to earn your trust, create a safe place for you to become vulnerable, and ask questions to allow your unconscious mind and body sensations to guide us to the triggers. At these trigger points, we create new energy patterns using our imagination. Here is the key to success: at these trigger points, our shared vulnerability allows us to access your spirit. Your spirit creates new stories, new experiences, new energy patterns that literally change your life. Your imagination is tapped by the same part of your brain that gives you dreams. Now you consciously create using a technique similar to lucid dreaming. This new creation story provides the acceptance, the forgiving, and the release clearing the path to healing.

I also offer Spiritual Coaching following the ICF guidelines. In the Discovery Session, we create the coaching plan. The plan includes goals, measurables, timeframes, and a meeting schedule. Individual coaching sessions work from the plan. We check on progress, agree on this session’s focus, work through blockers, set follow-up tasks, and schedule the next session. Because the focus is spiritual coaching, all aspects of the plan and process contain spiritual growth elements.

I offer a free exploratory session for both coaching and healing. You need to pick the right people for your team. The exploratory helps you decide if I am a good fit for your needs. Before committing serious time and money, take advantage of the opportunity to make sure we are a good fit.

What ideas and principles do you base your Life and Spiritual coaching on?

I take a very client-centered approach. You know yourself better than anyone else. You may lack clarity around what you really want or how to get there from here. You may feel out of touch with your purpose; feel trapped with golden handcuffs, and maybe just unhappy with where you are in life or a career. My role is to help you find the answers within. Finding those answers takes us on an exploration of you.

Before the Discovery Session, you complete worksheets to help clarify where you are, and some ideas on where you want to be. These sheets ask about your values, characteristics you like about yourself, and what has you challenged or stuck. You won’t have all the answers at the ready. Even those you do are often still changing. That’s OK. You don’t have to like where you are or even be certain of what you want. We have a starting point, and we can always adjust or shift direction. In life, we are always changing and growing. Ultimately, we arrive at a point when you become your own coach directing your continued exploration of life.

For people coming across the terms for the first time, can you describe Holographic Memory Resolution?

HMR is a technique developed by Brent Baum, a clinical psychologist, and a spiritual man. Basically, it uses the memories (stuck energy) stored within the body to find the moment of traumatic wounding. The client then identifies what needs were unmet. Techniques such as memory rewrite, energy exchange, color replacement, etc. resolve the traumatic freeze processing the emotional energy. There are many subtleties to determining what technique applies and how to apply it. In my practice, I blend HMR with other techniques I’ve learned through formal training or experience.

What’s the most important thing when it comes to maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with clients?

The client is the only important person in a session. I must become as vulnerable to the client as the client becomes vulnerable to me. It is only when we are vulnerable to each other that true compassion emerges. Healing and growth occur in the presence of compassion, acceptance, and grace. In this sacred space, a client finds the ability to create a new sense of self. The client literally writes new creation stories redefining who she is.

The sacredness of our work together applies equally to energy healing and to coaching. Frequently our human growth stops at many points in our life. We limit ourselves with beliefs often formed when our mental and emotional capabilities were a child’s level. As an adult, we re-evaluate them to change what we find is inadequate for who we have become and who we are becoming.

Do you have any advice for people who feel stuck in their life and would like to move forward?

I was once told by a respected mentor: “Ryan, if you never ask for help you will be stuck.”. Don’t allow your pride to convince you only the weak ask for help. To the contrary, it takes a great deal of courage to admit you need help, and even more courage to seek it. Growth takes determination and stamina. Find the right people to be on your team.
