Embarking on a spiritual journey often begins with a realization of one’s unique sensitivities. Rosie Anderson shares her transformative path, from a childhood marked by sensitivity to becoming a compassionate life coach and intuitive guide. Learn more about that, as well as how she helps clients find joy in their life in her enlightening MysticMag interview below.
What led you down this spiritual path in life and what was that path like?
As a child, I knew that I was different. I could not explain it, or even understand it, but I knew when certain things were going to happen. I also had severe migraine headaches that could not be medically explained, and I was always told that I was “the sensitive child.” My mother really did not know how to handle me. That caused me to stuff my feelings so that I would not say anything, but it did not stop me from seeing and knowing things.
I am quite sure because of my sensitivity; I was picking up on things around me that were happening in my tumultuous home life. My parents were young parents, and my father was an alcoholic with a lot of rage, so I learned to be on guard and even more sensitive to what was going on around me, which came in handy later in life. After my parents divorced when I was 11, I had to watch over my brother. That caused me to become an adult at a young age and that made high school hard for me. Plus, I felt like I didn’t fit in at all. I didn’t understand why kids were so mean. That is when I started reading psychology and self-help books to try to understand what I was experiencing. I felt very lonely. My friends used to tease me about reading psychology books, but I knew there was a better way, so I continued to work on self-development and later worked my way through university in search of my dreams.
My Mom had a friend who was a spiritual person and a psychic, although she would deny being a psychic if you asked her. However, everything she predicted came true. She had a special place in her heart for me and became my mentor. We were there for each other and she guided me through my life until she passed away in my 40s. She loved me deeply and knew that I had gifts that I needed to share with the world. When she went into Hospice, she called me to tell me and I flew to see her and the nurses said, “Oh, you’re Rosie. We thought you were someone she made up. We didn’t know that you were real. She kept talking about you”.
During that time, I worked in the corporate world and realized that there was more to life than working all the time and making money. So much more! I had money and all the things, but I was sad so I started taking weekend personal growth seminars and loved getting in touch with that side of me, it opened me up to get in touch with me on a deep level.
Besides my mentor psychically advising me, I would continue to dabble in it as well. However, once she passed in 2012, I knew there was more for me. Then my mom passed in 2014 and I was so devastated and feared death. In this country, we seem to want to avoid talking about death. I was referred to a well-known psychic/medium, and he was right on with all the details he told me about my mom, things that there is no way that he would know without being psychic. That’s when I knew I had to follow this path so I joined his spiritual development group to develop my mediumship and psychic work and have been a member ever since.
One night, I was doing a reading for a person visiting the group, and he started to cry. His dad came through in the reading, and he had been very abusive, so it was very emotional for him. He asked me “Do you always make grown men cry” and I was taken aback, and then he said that they were good tears, that he really needed to hear that from his dad, as he never apologized for his behavior, and that he had been very, very mean to him.
That’s when I realized that this work was nothing to be fearful of, as it could be very healing. It is my belief that energy does not die, and we are all energy; we simply move on to the next plane, the spirit world, and many times they still want to connect with their people who are here on earth.
After my brother passed away, whom I was closest to, I knew that I needed to go deeper into this work, for myself and others. My path has not been linear; it has had a lot of ups and downs, but that has led me to where I am now, helping others heal.
What are the ideas and principles behind your life coaching?
My primary goal is for my clients to live their best life, whatever that is for them, without judgement. Every client has their own needs and wants, so it is very individual, and then I create a plan that we, together, feel will work for them. If the client is ready to do the work and take a deep dive into their life to look at what’s working, and what is not working, then we can make some magic happen. I am simply the conduit; the client does the work.
I always ask my clients, “What does JOY look like in your life?” and most people really don’t know. They may say their kids or their spouse, and that’s great, they should be, but the question really is what lights them up and what makes their heart sing. This is where we go to work and dig deep to discover their JOY.
My basic principle is this: If we have balance in our lives, spiritually, health/movement, career/creative expression, and in our relationships, then our wheel of life works well. When one thing is severely out of balance, it shows up in all areas of our lives, so we work to create balance once again. You can make tons of money, but not have good relationships, and where is the joy in that?
What are the differences between your intuitive sessions and your mediumship sessions?
An intuitive session is when I connect and tune in with the client directly and feel into what they need or want. This is directly about the client and perhaps about the people in their life. In a mediumship reading, I connect with the client’s people in the spirit world who want to give messages to them. 95% of a mediumship reading comes from the spirit world. I am simply a conduit through God to the client and their people in the spirit world. It’s also important to note that it can depend on whether their people in the spirit world want to come forward. Sometimes people are left disappointed because they wanted a certain someone to come forward, but that person didn’t want to. I work for the spirit world; they do not work for me. Generally, people do want to come through and say the things that they feel they need to say. That’s the main difference – intuitive sessions include working with the client directly while mediumship readings are based on communicating with the spirit world.
How do you customize your services for individual clients?
Each client is individual, and what works for you and what works for me is usually very different. I have a protocol that I do before every coaching session, which includes meditation, connecting with the client virtually and with prayer. I connect with the client so that we can devise a plan that works for them. I do everything for the best and highest for everyone involved through God.
Just as the food that we eat is different, so are our personal needs. I have an intake meeting with the client, we take one to three things that they want to focus on, and I put together a plan based on that. I have many different resources that I work with based on the client’s needs. For example, if you want to work on your career, I have resources that we can explore that help you figure out what types of jobs would be good for you. I firmly believe that if you do what you love, you won’t work a day in your life. Also, if you are trying to put a round peg in a square hole in terms of work or anything in life, really, it doesn’t work. So many people are going to work every day and absolutely hate what they are doing. Life is too short for that. Let’s find out what lights you up and let’s do that!
Do you have any special messages or advice for our readers?
This is our one and only precious life. God did not make any mistakes. We all deserve to have all the love in the world and to live the life of our dreams. This starts with self-love, which is most important, and which is what most people struggle with. Once we can love and forgive ourselves, it is then that we can truly love others, and we can do it in a big way. Also, when we learn to love and forgive ourselves, we can have a wonderful life. Life happens, so we will always have bumps in the road, but if you have balance in your life, then you are able to handle those bumps much better. It’s all about practicing the pause; stop, take a breath, and as long as you need to respond instead of react. There is magic in that!
Is there anything that you’d like to add?
I study and mentor with Paul Jacobs, Penny Hayward, Marc Lainhart, and Deborah Livingston and I am a member of two reputable organizations that have double blind tested my abilities and I always continue to develop. I’m currently working on becoming a licensed healer through Arthur Findley college in the UK. If you have a calling to this work, I highly recommend letting your light shine as the world needs it now more than ever.
