What can you tell me about yourself and your professional journey?

A field trip to Avebury as part of a geography degree in the late ’70s led to me starting to ask why – why would our Neolithic forebears have bothered to engage in such massive earthworks and the erection of complex standing stone circle designs? This led to an immersion in the emerging geomantic literature of the day, following writers such as John Michell, Tom Graves, and many others into the realms and traditions of the earth mysteries.

Having learnt to dowse for the different types of earth energy current in the landscape, I was privileged to have Colin Bloy, Sig Lonegren, and Dan Wilson as early dowsing mentors, who were as excited as I was by both the social and medical therapeutic potential of working directly with these earth energies to resolve geopathic stress. I started working professionally with earth acupuncture in 1985 and undertaking extensive journeys into the geomantic traditions and landscapes of Britain, China, India, and aboriginal Australia, including training in classical Feng Shui with several masters.

I have been active in curriculum and educational standards development with both the Feng Shui Society and the British Society of Dowsers; Visiting Lecturer in Geopathic Stress and Earth Acupuncture at the School of Integrated Health, Department of Complementary Medicine, University of Westminster; and a principal of Beech Hill College / Land and Spirit in Sussex; and since the early ‘90s have been training students around the world in the Geomantic healing arts, with special focus on Earth Acupuncture to resolve geopathic stress.

Now with almost forty years’ experience as a professional geomancer, I offer on-site visits and remote consultations in Britain and world-wide to clear geopathic and geopsychic (ghosts and other spirit disturbances) stress in homes and landscapes, to introduce classical feng shui precepts for design and placement for and within buildings, to dowse for ideal location and design of new sacred spaces, and to locate precisely new water supply boreholes.

For people unfamiliar with it, can you explain what Geomancy is?

The word Geomany derives from the Greek words ge, earth, and manteia, divination or prophecy.

In some cultures and periods of history, the term Geomancy has referred to a divinatory system in which foretelling was done principally by some method of sand or earth casting, an oracular tradition in use for millennia across Africa, Arabia, Europe, and Asia. For many other cultures geomantic practices have also involved direct contact with earth energies, astronomical alignments, sacred geometry, spirit realms, sacred mountains, holy wells, etc. as ways of understanding, living in, and manipulating the environment. For them, geomantic knowledge was employed as an art and science for better living, dying, and worship.

John Michell, in his “View over Atlantis” of 1969, was the first contemporary writer to use the term Geomancy to embrace both the microcosmic divinatory system and the whole macrocosmic field of the earth mysteries. Since then the expanded definition of the term Geomancy has come into general use. A new global eclectic geomantic discipline is evolving which incorporates, in addition to the microcosmic divinatory system, the macrocosmic context of leys and other dowsable earth energies, planetary-wide topographical engineering, and hidden patterns embedded in the landscape, the design of megalithic and temple structures and other sacred spaces, sacred geometry and metrology, astrology, and astronomical alignment, as well as religious and magical ceremonial usage.

This includes local folk magic traditions as well as the large corpus of geomantic wisdom to be found enshrined in the precepts of Hindu Vaastu, Daoist & Confucian Feng Shui, Native American Medicine Wheel teachings, and other global cultural traditions. In addition to these classical subjects of the earth mysteries schools, contemporary geomantic practice now also includes the new sciences of baubiologie, geobiologie, passive solar design, green architecture, and of necessity dealing with technopathic stress.

What courses do you offer and what can people hope to learn through them?

In conjunction with my partner Jewels Rocka through Land and Spirit, we now offer an online training in Earth Energy Dowsing, in which we explore the theory and application of earth energy dowsing within a framework of Geomantic practice. This online course offers an in-depth examination of dowsing skills and earth energies, including working with nature spirits and trees, earth acupuncture, and other techniques for healing the land. This can lead into an in-person weekend master-class in Earth Acupuncture skills, usually conducted each June in Sussex.

You also offer therapy services, such as QiGong Healing and Acupuncture. Can you share a few details about that part of your work?

During the 80s and 90s, I also trained in acupuncture, herbal medicine, cranio-sacral therapy, and qigong, as well as shamanic and spiritual healing, and spend part of each week running a holistic medical practice from my home in Sussex.

What is the Sacred Spaces community?

This is an online community which we have established recently as a forum for our students past and present and anyone else interested, to dive into discussions, share experiences, and gain insights through interactive forums, articles, and live events tailored to enhance geomantic practice. Our community is for enthusiasts, practitioners, and newcomers alike, offering a platform to explore the ancient wisdoms of geomancy through a network of like-minded individuals passionate about harnessing and understanding the subtle energies of the Earth.
