Patricia Herlevi is a renowned metaphysical practitioner who offers sessions for astrology, card reading, spiritual mediumship. She kindly agreed to tell us more about her beginnings, Animal Reiki sessions, and her relationship with clients.
When did you first know that being an astrologer and spiritual mediumship was your calling and how did it come about?
I first learned about the Zodiac Signs when I was around ten years old. Then when I was in my early twenties, a friend took me to a psychic fair and I met my first professional astrologer who drew up a Natal Chart for me. When she spoke about the houses, configurations, and planetary placements in my chart, I developed a hunger to know more about astrology and metaphysics.
In 2005, I fell down a flight of stairs and was confined to my apartment for several months. During this time, an astrologer lent me astrological tomes by Liz Greene, Steven Forrest, Robert Hand, and other astrologers of the baby boomer generation.
In 2012, in search of my next profession, a motivational coach who was also into astrology persuaded me to do chart readings for clients. I saw a gift in me that I failed to see at the time. Plus, that was the year the Mayan Calendar ended so many people were flocking to astrology.
The spiritual mediumship has always been with me, but I didn’t trust its reliability until 2019. I saw other spiritual healers and teachers channeling angels and ascended masters as well as celebrated people in spirit on YouTube. I thought I could do that so why am I not doing it? I came out of the spiritual closet in 2019 and I’m glad that I did.
And because I’m mostly a Water Sign, channeling comes easy to me. I feel like I did when I was a journalist and I interviewed people in the physical. The only difference now is my interviews are with souls in spirit. They are the ones who knock on my door. Sometimes I answer.
Could you tell us more about Animal Reiki? Could you describe one of your Animal Reiki sessions?
Animal Reiki is similar to Reiki done on humans. Animal Reiki practitioners channel the Reiki Universal Life Force or unconditional love through their hands to the animals. Most animals immediately respond to the energy and the animals also let the practitioner know when the session is complete because they will move away from the practitioner and go about their day.
I do distance work so it’s not visually exciting. I use a surrogate stuffed animal and use all the hand positions on the surrogate. I also use a distance Reiki symbol and I set an intention that the Reiki goes where it is needed for the highest and best. Sometimes I channel the Reiki to a photograph of the animal. I consult with the client (human) first through a Zoom call and then I work with the animal off-line as a remote session.
I might include crystals and sound healing tools in a session. I always called on Saint Francis and Saint Claire of Assisi plus a childhood dog in spirit who says that he wants to assist me. I call on the archangels too. I am the conduit in which this energy flows to the recipient. This is humble work for sure. I don’t take credit for the healing that occurs. I just show up and listen to Spirit.
Are some types of psychic readings more demanding or difficult than others?
Yes, it’s challenging to do a session on someone who doesn’t have any questions or concerns and just wants a general reading. I’m also not a mind-reader even if I possess psychic gifts nor do I wish to invade another person’s mind even if I could. So, I need there to be a dialogue without the client revealing too much about their situation. I just need general information to focus upon.
Most of my clients have been cooperative and lovely to work with. I’ve learned discernment over the years because there are people who have come to me who actually didn’t want a reading. They wanted me to tell them what they wanted to hear even though I didn’t see those results in reading. I imagine that any intuitive reader has encountered this.
I don’t enjoy people testing my abilities. That’s insulting. If they feel intuitively drawn to me to do a reading for them, then they could trust that inner knowing rather than test my abilities. I’ve already paid my dues and I’m certified in most of the services I offer. I learned mediumship, astrology, and card reading on my own. And I learned the other modalities from certified professionals.
Some of the psychic sessions are still performed in person. What about you? How has your work been affected by the pandemic?
I do all my sessions remotely including Reiki. I reside in a city that is not a metaphysical haven (that would be on the other end of the island where I reside).
The pandemic has more people offering remote readings and healing sessions and that coupled with a shaky economy, I have not had the number of clients I require to sustain astrology and intuitive reader business. This is one of the reasons I learned Reiki, counseling, coaching, and animal communication.
During the past year, I received online certification in animal communication, Reiki, crystal Reiki, counseling, transformational coaching, and angel therapy. I’ve also taken this time to do deep healing work on myself which has increased my healing and psychic abilities.
What is the most important detail in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers?
I believe in honesty and integrity with customers. Sometimes the information from an astrology or card reading reveals a dark night of the soul energy or a loss of some kind which I must deliver diplomatically and gently to the client.
Other times, the client is finally emerging from a dark night and I coach him or her along. And I provide tools and practices to help them make the best of whatever situation emerges for them. I also believe in multiple timelines and that nothing is ever set in stone. We are not destined to fail or suffer if we choose otherwise or choose to change our perspective.
One of the Five Reiki Principles is “Just for today, I will do my work honestly.”
I’m upfront about my services and my fees and I also have disclaimers for all my practices. I tell my clients that I am not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. And if they need consultation in those areas, I encourage them to find the right professionals. I follow a code of ethics in all my work.
What do you love most about your profession?
I love working with the Spirit Realm. I love feeling the energies of the planets in my body when I’m studying a chart. I love the conversations I have with spirit guides and the spirits I have channeled. I also love teaching what I’ve learned on my journey to others and connected with kindred souls who are on their paths too.
On the animal side of things, I love animals in general and it’s a pleasure to serve them and help them improve their lives. There has never been a time in my life where I haven’t been drawn to animals and now, I have the skillset to make their lives less stressful and more enjoyable. I’m deeply honored to offer these services.
