How do you bridge the fields of psychology and astrology in your practice as a Psychological Astrologer?
The methodology I use is a specific framework of 25 profiles known as The PA Matrix. The profiles are triggered based on the astrological placements in the chart, and an average person will trigger between 9 – 19 profiles in various areas of their life. Each profile comes with a specific set of behaviours, insecurities, perspectives, as well as a back story of trauma or experience from childhood. From the chart, for example, an astrologer trained in PA (psychological astrology) can tell that the client had a strong mother figure who ‘did all the work’ and an ineffective or absent father, and that consequently this person may have grown up with some level of misandry, a tendency to put down the abilities and qualities of men in favour of women, and specifically whether this plays out in the workplace or in the bedroom. We can read this right off the chart.
Can you explain how astrology can provide insights into a person’s personality, strengths, and potential challenges, and how you help individuals navigate their lives based on these astrological insights?
Each planet, sign and house in astrology is connected with specific concepts, say, Taurus is associated with material practicality. When every component in the chart is interpreted, it produces a very comprehensive personality profile. ‘Strengths and weaknesses’ depend on contexts – a trait that is a strength in the workplace can be a problem in the personal life. Astrology charts also reveal imbalances; for example, a highly mutable person will not thrive in a conventional leadership position where they are working off a blank slate. By identifying discrepancies in their life compared to what is shown in an astrology chart, an individual can begin to figure out why some situations simply don’t work for them while others do. This helps our students and clients make better decisions that apply their natural traits in more effective and productive ways, while actively declining applications that cause stress and difficulties due to misalignment with their natural self.
What type of services do you offer?
Consultations, certifications and courses. My direct consultation clients tend to be high-performers; many of them are CEOs and leaders of their organizations or small businesses – they tend to see me for advisory services on realigning their businesses and personal lives to their personal purpose. The certification course typically draws coaches, therapists and spiritual practitioners who wish to be trained in the PA methodology. Our other courses are suitable for professionals who feel really stifled and constrained in their day jobs, and wish to explore their own astrology charts to locate misalignments, so that they can redirect their resources to more fulfilling and purposeful careers.
What specific psychological theories or frameworks do you draw upon when interpreting astrological charts?
We use exclusively the PA methodology. Each profile reveals the Compensatory Behaviour, Short-Term Payoff, Inherent Guilt and Ultimate Desire of the individual. The PA methodology also involves a specific dialoguing process that helps the client/student get in touch with the core issue and reframe their perspective from self-serving to contributory.
How do you help clients differentiate between deterministic interpretations of astrology and using it as a tool for self-reflection and personal development?
‘Deterministic’ implies that something is fixed in stone, but also assumes that a behaviour only occurs in one way. Most psychological behaviours are on a spectrum and its manifestation is contextual. For example, ‘stingy’ and ‘thrifty’ are the same thing, but mean completely different things socially. In most cases, students/clients are able to produce multiple instances in their history of displaying the behaviours from the profiles they have, so there is no question of having to ‘convince’ them that they have these tendencies. Since our clients/students are usually very intentional in their pursuit of personal development, once they identify ways in which these profiles can produce negative effects in their life, they very naturally begin applying the profile behaviours in contexts that produce more positive outcomes in a conscious and intentional way.
Can you explain the importance of ongoing self-reflection and personal growth in the context of astrology, and how you support clients in utilizing astrology as a tool for continuous self-discovery and self-improvement?
Interestingly, one of the core concepts we deal with in the PA methodology is to get off the obsession with ‘self-reflection’ and ‘personal growth’, and rather to get out there and start applying their talents and abilities to produce positive outcomes for others and society. As practitioners, we’ve found that the lack of external applications usually result in students going so far inward that it produces isolation, self-centredness and insecurity, since we now expect to find certainty via sitting by oneself, but true certainty can only be achieved when our efforts and abilities produce positive real world results for others that we can stand by. Having said that, we have a wonderful community called Jupiter Circle that consists entirely of powerful individuals who are actively applying themselves to real-world projects like sustainability solutions, the arts, coaching, physical wellness, career development etc. and our community activities help members to constantly focus and align their projects to identify and apply themselves ever more effectively to move their causes forward. Effective psychological astrology should not result in our students staying obsessed with chart reading without taking real-world action.
