What inspired you to establish Wings of Freedom in 1998, and how has your journey evolved since then?
My journey in deciding to start my own counseling business happened around age 28 when I decided to really dive into healing myself from the inside out. This was during the 1980’s so not many people really worked on themselves that deeply, if at all, and especially anything related to trauma. It was like pushing a boulder uphill since the energy wasn’t set up, yet, for doing such deep work.
I had been putting myself through school part-time while working full-time starting at age 19. I went back and forth between a business degree and psychology degree. The advantage to the 1980’s was that you could get a good paying job without a college degree so I already tried being a mortgage loan processor, correspondent loan manager and loan officer. I liked the job but knew it wasn’t my calling so decided to switch gears and finished my Bachelor’s of Arts with a focus on trauma and recovery due to my own healing of trauma. I knew that my own experiences would benefit others in their journey.
I decided to go to graduate school to be a licensed psychologist but found that, back in the early to mid 1990’s, there weren’t that many tools to help people as a licensed psychologist so I decided to do a program in trauma and recovery without getting licensed with the goal of finding new tools to help people. Fortunately this is no longer the case and licensed psychologists have many things they can do to help.
My work is much different than a psychologist and I have learned so much working with clients and using intuitive sight/clairvoyance in all my energy sessions.
I can see what is going on in people’s physical body and energy field, using clairvoyance, so I have a map as to what needs to be done to work with a client. I started noticing patterns emerging on what people are ready to heal. I started writing these things down with the information on how to energetically heal them.
I was shown that most of our issues are inherited. Perhaps 20% of what we’re dealing with is from our current life experiences. We are repeating the unresolved issues of our ancestry going way back in time. We are also working through past lives that were not resolved and have repeat themes from them as well. We are born into an era where we have issues to work through that fit the themes we’ve come to work through. These inherited influences of our ancestry, past lives and the collective, I believe, make up the other 80% of what we’ve come to work through.
Eventually, I started writing manuals and recording audios on these techniques since I figured spirit showed them to me so that I could teach other people how to do these techniques. Also the audios are easy and inexpensive tools for people to listen to and get healing benefits.
I now have an Energetic Healing Program on the School for Higher Consciousness which is a website I founded with Maryanne O’Brien bringing the website to life with the help of Liz Koumantzelis. Many practitioners have been trained to teach the classes so now I only train the teachers. I’ve also invited other practitioners to teach their techniques as well so they are on the website under “Electives.”
I still do sessions with clients because I really love the people I work with and enjoy helping them let go of the past and move into new thinking. I use all the techniques I’ve been shown over the last 26 years. I’m constantly writing new protocols for people to use for self and others to help them energetically heal.
Your background incorporates a diverse range of modalities such as guided imagery, Reiki, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. How do you integrate these into your counseling and coaching practice?
I have two sections to my sessions.
Section one, we talk about the client’s goals and what they want to transform in their lives. I then do an intuitive scan of their energy field to get information on what is best to do to help them using energy work and guided imagery. It also helps them understand themselves as we do the scan of their energy field.
Section two, I do energy work and guided imagery to help them let go of what’s in the way of their goals and bring in energies to help them on their journey.
During Section 2, I use guided imagery to help people get in touch with their body so they can see, feel, know, hear, sense what their own issues are about. Some people are very good at it and some people have a harder time. There’s no right or wrong way to work on yourself so I go with whatever is best for someone. In some cases, the client wants it silent so they can relax and let the process unfold. Focusing on self also gives the body permission to let go of what’s being held from the past.
If someone is really good at guided imagery, they receive lots of insights about themselves by focusing on their body and me guiding them through it. Sometimes I’ll have them focus on past lives, their ancestry and an age in their current life which is something that is typically discovered during Section 1 of the session. In some cases, I’ll bring them through a deeper process to get more information on themselves since it can be very helpful in releasing the past to do so.
I took Reiki training in around 1996. I was trained up to Level 2. This energy work modality will have the Reiki vibration automatically come out of the hands in order to help the client to let go of the past energies no longer serving them.
I took Jin Shin Jyutsu between 1996 and 1997. It’s a very complicated system that was developed 5000 years ago in Japan. I was certified in it but it’s really a lifelong study so I’m really a beginner in it. I use many of their principles when working on clients. They have a really great body read on what the different parts of the body mean along with a way to harmonize meridians. I use those techniques regularly. Most of what I do is what I’ve developed on my own by looking at people’s energy fields.
What type of services do you offer?
I offer a 1 1/2 to 2 hours session where we go through the sequence listed under Question 2. A new person takes longer since we go through the philosophy of how a session works.
I also offer a new service called, “Skip the Line” so that people can have a long distance session without being physically present or actively involved. I do a read of their energy field and then the energy work. I write up notes and do a voice recording of my findings. This is good for many people since I do the session within 48 hours whenever I have time.
I also offer a service called “3 Questions” where people can ask me 3 questions and I’ll answer them within 48 hours.
I also teach workshops on the material I’ve developed. The bulk of the teaching is now done by other people who have been trained by me but I still teach the teachers and those who have taken all of the workshops at least one time.
How do you navigate the intersection between societal and religious belief systems in your practice, especially when working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds?
I do work with people from different religious and cultural backgrounds. I had the theory that our religious and societal beliefs can get in the way of our healing, so my graduate thesis paper on this called something like, “Religious and Societal Beliefs—how they help and harm our healing journey.” I studied Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Shintoism, Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism. I concluded that many of the beliefs we all have can be rigid. This stops us from thinking differently which is needed if we’re to move forward in life without trauma and past issues. My motto is: change your beliefs, change your life. This is the first step to moving out of trauma and past difficulties.
I have the client give me their background and what they’d like to change and work on. The intuitive read of their energy field will typically review areas they can improve on if they feel guided to do so. This includes being fluid with their beliefs and aligned with Divine Truth which is something we can all work towards.
In your opinion, what role does intuitive sight (clairvoyance) play in the healing journey, and how do you incorporate it into your sessions?
I use intuitive sight throughout my sessions and encourage all my clients to tune into their intuition as well. It’s important for people to follow their own guidance so I encourage people to see what resonates with them during the session and feel into it.
With your expertise in trauma and recovery, how do you approach healing ancestral and past life traumas, and what impact do these healing processes have on clients’ present live
The ancestry and past lives directly influence how a person feels in their current life. I’m still fascinated to see that if a past life is resolved, a client may feel totally different about themself and their family members, friends, world, etc. This past life was in their energy field influencing how they felt. Same goes with ancestry. By helping the ancestors heal their issues, the same thing happens—a different feeling about self and others.
Sometimes the change is significant and sometimes it’s subtle. However, doing this work long enough, people generally can’t relate to the person they were when they started this work. They are raising their vibration above these issues and problems and feeling better about themselves and their lives. That’s what this work is all about.
