What can you tell me about your professional beginnings and how did you get into the line of work you do today?

In my upbringing, I was strongly influenced by my grandmother from Puerto Rico who was a meditator and often spoke to me on spiritual topics such as love, the nature of the soul, and reincarnation. My path as a healer truly began, however, when I was 23. It was 2009 and I suffered a serious injury; I shattered 2 of my neck vertebrae, which required an emergency spinal fusion surgery and left me paralyzed as a quadriplegic. I was on a respirator and could not speak or breathe. I was completely disabled. Just prior to this I was preparing to graduate from SFSU where I was studying music and holistic health.

I was curious about using sound as a healing tool and at the same time had just begun learning about Reiki and energy healing. So finding myself disabled in the hospital, I needed to utilize all the self-healing tools I had at the time. My time in the hospital was like an initiation. By regaining my voice and using sound, toning, and chanting in combination with Reiki and visualizing healing energy I experienced an accelerated miraculous healing like no doctors had ever seen. I was nicknamed the Miracle Man patient, and I ended up walking out of the hospital after 2 1/2 months. Moving forward from that point, healing and mysticism became my life’s calling and I have had the good fortune of studying with numerous elders from world traditions. It was through the process of healing myself that I now find myself in the line of work that I do today.

What does it mean to be a “diviner” and how does divination healing work?

There are countless forms of divination that can be found across cultures throughout time. It is a mystical practice in which messages from the unseen realms can be communicated and provide insight into this realm. The type of divination that I have studied and been initiated to perform is called “stick divination” which comes from the Dagara people in West Africa; Burkina Faso and Ghana. This particular form of divination connects us to ancestors who are either wanting to help us on our path or are needing help from us to transform a negative pattern that they still hold even in the world of spirit; something that might be affecting our lives today. It also connects us to nature spirits that hold the energetic capacity to help our lives blossom in constructive ways, like the water spirit, the mountain spirit, and the earth spirit. If someone receives a divination they will come away with a lot of practical information about their life; whether it’s about their home, relationships, projects, travel, health, etc.

By the end of the divination, they will be given a list of prescriptive offerings to make that will correct any negative conditions or patterns in their life and open the way for positive outcomes. Divination is something that has been a part of humanity for 10’s of thousands of years and is still happening today. Even as you read this there are hundreds of divinations happening right now in Burkina Faso, as it is a natural part of life to be connected to the world of spirit and to live in harmony with the ancestors. It is understood in indigenous cultures that the fundamental law of the universe is Sacred Reciprocity; the Law of Right Returns. When we engage in Sacred Reciprocity, positive change occurs naturally simply by remembering how to speak to the unseen realms and give the proper offerings. As a stick diviner, I am able to help people reconnect to their ancestors and the world of nature spirits in a grounded and precise way.

You are a sanctioned teacher of the Pachakuti Mesa Tradition of Cross-Cultural Peruvian Healing Arts. What can you tell me about that part of your work?

The Andean cosmology has an important role to play in our current process of planetary evolution of consciousness. Everyone has heard of Machu Picchu, the Inkan temple that is one of the seven wonders of the world. Beyond the architectural majesty, the consciousness and mystical practices of these people have significant relevance today. I mentioned earlier this concept of Sacred Reciprocity, and in the Andean cosmology, that word is AYNI. Remembering how to participate in AYNI is an essential part of our collective healing and awakening process because it demonstrates that the world is alive and animated, completely interconnected to us and communicating with us, beyond space and time.

Through AYNI we can create balance, order, and harmony between this world of the five senses and the unseen worlds, beyond the five senses. This is part of what I teach. I have a sacred altar called a Pachakuti Mesa that is both a portal for healing of self, community, and the planet, and a vessel for holding power. The power that we all connect to is called Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Ether. The Pachakuti Mesa gives us the container to hold this elemental power in a balanced way in the form of an altar. And the altar becomes a mirror of the self and the medicine that one carries. When I teach the one-year apprenticeship in the Pachakuti mesa tradition I witness people step deeper into their path of healing and activate their genius.

Even though it is an Andean tradition in origin, this lineage has many connections and overlays with other lineages as well, so I see people connect more deeply to their ancestral roots through these practices. I recorded an album that I am very proud of based on these teachings called CH’ASKA PUNKU, which means Star Portal in Quechua. On the first track of the album you will hear the voice of my teacher, Don Oscar Miro Quesada, doing an invocation in Quechua.

What can people hope to achieve through your spiritual mentorship?

I work with people using hypnotherapy, stick divination, connecting to the ancestors, Qi Gong, breathwork, as well as opening the voice. I’m here to help people connect to their purpose and their genius, and bring healing to the mind, body, and emotions. Any of these pathways that I offer can help bring someone closer to self-healing, self-fulfillment, and self-mastery. It depends on what a person’s needs are and where they want to begin; some people want to open up their voice, so we focus on that, but at a certain point, it becomes clear that they need to re-program limiting beliefs in their subconscious using hypnotherapy, or they need to connect to the spirit world using divination.

Other people might want to learn about using energy for self-healing, so we go over different practices of Qi Gong and breathwork. I have gathered a lot of tools on my own journey of self-healing, coming from being paralyzed as a quadriplegic and essentially putting myself back together again. When I work with people, I give my presence to them and deeply listen in order to know where to start, and in that way, we can co-create the perfect recipe for healing and elevation.
