Can you tell us about your journey into becoming a Light Language Artist and how this unique form of expression has influenced your work as a spiritual mentor and healer?
It all traces back to a spiritual awakening in 2011. Before that, I was probably the least spiritual person you could ever meet. Okay, maybe I was born with intuitive skills like we all are, but they were trained and indoctrinated out of me. I was trained at the University of Washington in the empirical method—you know, it has to be rational, proven, and verified. You can’t apply that to spirituality. It’s impossible. So I wasn’t even open to it. And, of course, many of us have had religious training where we think, “This just doesn’t make sense to me.” Even as a little girl, I didn’t understand the Bible because the God at the front of the book was not the same God at the back of the book. I didn’t get it. So, I think many of us just turned it off. It’s like, “This religious stuff doesn’t make sense.” And we often associate spirituality with religion, which isn’t always the case. But what happened in 2011 was that I was working for a company that helped people quit smoking. I was coaching people over the phone, utilizing my psychology degree for that purpose. We were then acquired by a major corporation, shifting the focus from personal interaction to numbers. I didn’t like that. Being service-oriented, I felt very unhappy.
Concurrently, I found myself delving deep into conspiracy theories because I realized that what I’d been told about the world wasn’t making sense. So, I sought to uncover the real story. I went down that rabbit hole while feeling dissatisfied with the corporate environment. Eventually, I became very paranoid. I reached a point where I said, “This isn’t working for me.” One thing I realized was that I was afraid of symbols—like Illuminati symbols. A colleague had an all-seeing eye sticker at his desk, and every time I passed by it, I shuddered. I realized I was allowing an image to control me; I had lost my power. I couldn’t let that continue. I thought, “What’s an alternative if I’ve gone so dark? How do I turn it around and bring in more light?” So, I made a commitment to meditate every day after work. Being single, I had the time and space to do so. I committed to meditating for however long it took, whether 20 minutes or two hours. I found meditation helped me balance the light and dark within, which I believe is a goal many of us share. I could sense its positive effects, relieving stress, fears, and my consternation about corporate environments that prioritize profit over people. So, I continued, seeing it was working. Then, one day while meditating, my hands began to move gracefully, almost like a hand ballet. It felt like an out-of-body experience, observing my hands move independently. I realized I was manipulating energy, aiding in my personal healing. The movements were intricate, replicating perfectly, yet I couldn’t consciously replicate them. I could feel the energy shifting around me, pushing out negativity and drawing in positivity. Later, I learned these were mudras. Although I didn’t know the term at the time, I knew they were beneficial.
I began to make sounds while meditating—humming and singing. These sound vibrations resonated through my body, aiding in energy manipulation. Eventually, this evolved into what is known as light language or glossolalia. I felt the energy surge with each utterance. I saw it as my own personal healing, keeping it to myself initially. However, as light language became more prominent in my healing journey, I realized there might be others who shared this experience. I sought out a spiritual community in Seattle, attending a meetup in 2011. I was eager to connect with others embarking on their spiritual awakening journey. However, I was met with blank stares when I mentioned light language. It was frustrating, as back then, it wasn’t as widely known as it is today. Determined to explore further, I found a mentor online, Reverend Ava Marquez, one of the first light language speakers I encountered. She encouraged me to share my gift more openly, thus initiating my journey into public light language expression. Now, onto the drawing aspect. Initially, I considered myself solely a light language singer. However, a friend from New Zealand who found me on Facebook introduced me to the concept of drawing light language codes during our Google meet sessions. I was awestruck by her ability and initially doubted my own potential. Yet, after a couple of years, I began to ponder, “What if I could?” I grabbed a notebook and let my hand move freely, resulting in spirals initially. However, over time, unique symbols emerged, which I now incorporate into my artwork. I draw spirit animals, humanoid spirit guides, all adorned with light language codes. As with my other practices, I could feel the energy shift with each stroke of the pen. This journey taught me the importance of believing in one’s potential. Many individuals ask me how to engage with light language, and my advice is simple: the first step is to believe that you can.
As a Thoth Tarot Specialist, what drew you to this particular deck, and how do you incorporate its symbolism and wisdom into your consultations with clients?
This relates back to the spiritual center in Seattle that I frequented and adored. I attended many of their classes and learned a great deal about various spiritual concepts because I was essentially a blank slate. The individuals there were wonderful, but unfortunately, they eventually faced financial constraints and had to close down. Just before their closure, there was one remaining class, and it was about tarot. The instructor, with whom I’ve had a few readings, ultimately became my greatest mentor. Initially, I found him a bit eccentric, and I wasn’t particularly fond of him when I first encountered him. I questioned whether I really wanted to take his class and if he was the right fit for me compared to other instructors I’d encountered. However, it was the last class available, and I realized that my fear of symbols, particularly stemming from my fear of tarot due to its symbolic nature, needed addressing.
So, I decided to confront this fear head-on by signing up for his class, despite my reservations about his unconventional personality. He’s an ex-cowboy from Montana, quite different from the stereotypical image of a spiritual teacher, which added to my uncertainty. Nevertheless, I enrolled in the class. Regarding the Thoth tarot, the reason I’m so drawn to it is because it delves deeper into the imagery of alchemy than any other deck I’ve encountered. When I see certain cards combined in a reading, I can recognize how far people have progressed on their spiritual journeys. I can see if they’ve undergone significant introspection, faced challenges, and overcome them, of forgiving others and themselves. This depth is what makes the Thoth tarot deck unique. Unlike some other decks, like a popular one created by individuals from mystery schools in England, which intentionally obscure or omit meanings to be understood only by initiates, the Thoth deck aims to empower everyone by packing as much imagery and symbolism onto each card as possible. This approach enriches the deck with layers of information, making it a powerful tool for self-discovery and growth. Interestingly, while reading a beginner’s guide to tarot, I came across advice recommending against starting with the Thoth deck.
However, I believe the opposite holds true. Mastering the Thoth deck first allows one to interpret any other deck more effectively, as the symbolism of the Thoth deck serves as a comprehensive foundation. The cards in the Thoth deck vividly depict the cyclical nature of spiritual progression—moving forward, encountering setbacks, and then advancing again—an aspect shared by all tarot cards. While I acknowledge the value of other tarot decks and readers, the Thoth deck stands out for its richness of information, enabling clear interpretation and conveying profound messages once its intricacies are understood.
What type of services do you offer?
I am a tarot reader who specializes in the Thoth tarot deck, an intuitive artist, light language activator, spiritual mentor, and energy healer.
I offer Thoth tarot readings. Believe it or not, the guy I initially thought was eccentric and crazy has been my mentor for 13 years. We study together every Wednesday night, delving deeper into esoteric meanings. I tend to attract people who are fairly advanced on their spiritual journey, thanks to the principle of like attracting like in learning.
I’m also a tarot teacher and mentor, but I prefer one-on-one sessions. I don’t enjoy teaching large classes because, much like when I coached people to quit smoking, I prefer to focus on the individual and their unique path and needs. Everyone is at a different stage in their spiritual journey, facing various frustrations and joys. Therefore, I’ve found it more effective to work individually with people. I offer one-on-one classes in Thoth tarot, as well as energy healing sessions. During energy healing, my hands often start moving as I perform mudras, and I may incorporate light language songs as well. If I encounter an emotional blockage that needs to be addressed, I won’t hesitate to use sound and vibration, sometimes even yelling or employing light language to address it firmly.
My services might not be ideal for those seeking a soft, calm Reiki session, but if you’re looking for someone who dives in and employs sound and vibration to tackle issues head-on, I’m your person.
Another service I’m excited about is the spirit guide drawings I mentioned earlier. I connect with the guide most helpful at the moment and create a line drawing while receiving messages from the guide. If done in person, such as at a psychic fair, individuals receive the original drawing to take home. For online sessions, they receive a digital copy. What’s fascinating is that each drawing features a different guide, as I call upon the guide most needed at that time.
In my experience, guides can be permanent or temporary. Temporary guides often respond to our subconscious calls for specific assistance, much like a plumber coming to fix a problem and moving on once it’s resolved. These guides can take on various forms and personalities, from ancient to modern, serious to lighthearted. I never know who or what will come through, but I thoroughly enjoy the process. I also incorporate light language codes into the drawings, which enhance the energy of the guide and provide insights into why that particular guide has come through at that moment.
With your background in psychology, how do you integrate psychological principles into your spiritual and healing practices?
I don’t know how you can’t even if you’re not trained in psychology because the ultimate goal of spiritual mentorship and our personal spiritual journeys is to harmonize and balance ourselves. Isn’t that essentially what psychology aims to achieve as well? Shadow work, a concept commonly discussed in spiritual contexts, is essentially what we do when we engage in psychological self-examination. It all begins with the intention to confront our darkness, which encompasses our unconscious thoughts, subconscious fears, animal instincts, and ego-driven behaviors. We all harbor aspects of ourselves that we’re ashamed of, and addressing these is fundamental to both spiritual and psychological growth. As long as we remain unaware of these aspects, we can’t effectively work on them. However, when we engage in shadow work, we consciously acknowledge and examine these aspects with a calm and clinical perspective, tracing their origins and understanding their impact on our psyche. This process often involves forgiveness, both of others and ourselves, as we recognize the flawed nature of humanity and the power of empathy and self-compassion.
Normalization is another crucial aspect, as it helps individuals undergoing spiritual awakening understand that their experiences are part of a common journey. Setbacks are inevitable, but they serve as opportunities for growth and learning, much like relapses in the process of quitting smoking. By normalizing these experiences, individuals can approach them with resilience and a sense of perspective. Additionally, losing friends along the way is a natural consequence of personal growth. As individuals evolve and change, their relationships may no longer align with people in their lives, leading to natural drifts in friendship circles. While this can be challenging, it’s essential to accept and normalize these changes as part of the growth process.
Understanding the cyclical nature of life and growth is also important. Just as seasons change and cycles repeat, our personal journeys undergo fluctuations and phases. By recognizing and embracing these cycles, individuals can navigate their spiritual and psychological growth with greater awareness and acceptance.
Furthermore, achieving balance and harmony within oneself enables individuals to pivot and adapt more effectively when faced with unexpected challenges or new concepts. Similar to the stance of a martial artist, mental balance provides a foundation for resilience and open-mindedness, allowing individuals to explore unfamiliar ideas with curiosity rather than resistance.
Lastly, it’s crucial to recognize that everyone is on their unique path of psychological and spiritual growth. Meeting people where they are, both in their psychological development and spiritual journey, fosters understanding, empathy, and meaningful connections.
Can you share some insights into how you tailor your approach to each individual client’s needs and goals when working with them through Tarot, metaphysics, and energy healing?
I offer various services, allowing people to choose what they prefer, but my favorite option is the whole package. I believe it provides the best value because it encompasses multiple elements. With the whole package, we can combine a spirit guide drawing with learning from the guide why it came through. Based on the message from the guide, I can then determine whether to proceed with light language Reiki, tarot readings, or both. This holistic approach is intuitively guided, and we begin by discussing the guide, leading to enlightening conversations about its significance. Active listening and benevolent boundaries are two key principles I apply during these interactions, drawing from my previous job experiences. Active listening allows me to truly understand and meet individuals where they are, while benevolent boundaries ensure that I remain a supportive observer without becoming enmeshed in their energy or problems. It’s a delicate balance that I’m continually learning to navigate in my personal life. Normalizing common experiences, such as losing friends or loved ones, is also crucial in providing support and understanding. Additionally, honoring free will is paramount. Rather than imposing mandates, I offer suggestions and respect individuals’ autonomy to make their own choices. People often seek guidance when they’re feeling lost or powerless, and it’s important to empower them rather than dictate their paths. By fostering independence and empowerment, the ultimate goal is for individuals to gain clarity, confidence, and a deeper connection to the divine, ultimately reducing their reliance on external guidance.
