Lisa, your practice encompasses hypnotherapy for various purposes, from weight loss and anxiety management to addiction treatment. How do these different areas intersect, and how does hypnotherapy uniquely contribute to each of these other realms?
All addictions, whether weight loss, smoking cessation, alcohol or drug addiction intersect with similar manifestations, such as impulse control, preoccupation with the addictive behavior, shame and feeling out of control.
What sets Hypnotherapy apart from other healing modalities is tapping into the power of the subconscious mind where habits are formed.
In a highly receptive learning state, we can access the subconscious mind, which is 90 plus % of our firing power, and makes lasting positive change.
Your background includes extensive training in different modalities like Emotional Freedom Technique, Therapeutic Imagery, and Past Life Regression. How do these diverse techniques complement hypnotherapy, and in what ways do you combine them to address your clients’ needs?
As a perennial student I have been adding complementary healing modalities to my proverbial toolkit to augment hypnosis and deepen my work.
Because each client’s histories and needs are unique, my work is a kind of intuitive amalgam.
Think of guided imagery as a kind of sub-set of hypnosis offering sensory and visual awareness to the inner experience.
Another example of complementary modalities is using EFT to release old stories, negative patterns, and trauma, before Hypnosis. Releasing emotional charge somatically before Hypnosis is a powerful, healing combination.
You mentioned your role as an intimacy coach, guiding women to re-ignite their life force and joyfully embody their erotic nature. How does hypnotherapy play a role in this aspect of your practice, particularly in exploring sexuality and intimacy?
Part of exploring and discovering one’s unique sexuality and erotic wiring is locating obstacles, cultural conditioning, life experiences, etc., that prevent healing and the full expression of one’s passionate nature. Hypnosis can allow an individual to access negative memories and emotional blocks and transform and heal them, and come into true alignment.
What drew you to combine hypnotherapy with intimacy coaching, and how do you approach this intersection in your work? Could you elaborate on the connection between hypnosis and exploring the Erotic Blueprints™ as part of this journey?
I was already a practicing hypnotherapist when I discovered the Erotic Blueprints and had a profound personal experience working with an Erotic Blueprint coach. Our work together inspired my desire to become certified and empower other women to reconnect with their passion and purpose, in and out of the bedroom.
In addition to the cognitive part of a session, I use hypnosis with intimacy coaching to address a client’s individual needs and challenges around intimacy. In a deeply relaxing, safe trance state, we bring the subconscious on board to create what someone is wanting to shift, grow and expand, related to the person’s intimate relationship with themself and others.
You have a background in a Women’s Mystery School, studying ancient shamanic mysteries and spiritual practices. How does this spiritual learning complement your hypnotherapy and intimacy coaching, and how does it inform your holistic approach to therapy?
I believe we are all whole and complete. Spiritual beings having a human experience in this playground we call life.
The Women’s Mystery school was an experiential dive into learning about Native American and other mystical traditions and rituals to honor and deepen our relationship to the Earth, to the feminine, to our spiritual lives, and each other–as well as learning grounding practices and studying and embodying Goddess worship.
Just like dance, breath work and ritual can create trance-like states, hypnosis by definition takes us into the subconscious: a deeper, more grounded, peaceful state to help release harmful, stored emotions in the body by using various mind-body techniques. My intimacy work takes women back into their bodies where their true wisdom lives.
