Kayce Laine’s journey from musician to sound healing practitioner is a testament to creativity and resilience. In her exclusive MysticMag interview, she shares her inspiring transition, her passion for sound healing education, and the innovative tools she’s developed to empower others in the field.
Can you share a few details about your professional beginnings and journey with our readers?
Absolutely! For much of my early adult life, I was a full-time musician, playing synths, singing in a number of bands, and teaching private music lessons which gave me the freedom to write music almost anytime I got the urge. After I moved to Nashville, where I now live, I ended up getting my first day job as a publicist and, for the first time in my life, I had to essentially schedule time to write in the calendar with my producer (now husband). In order to help get me in the right headspace with these new parameters, I started exploring different types of meditation techniques, including sound healing.
I realized that these tools were really helpful for not only my creativity but also my overall wellbeing. All of this was happening around the same time that I was finishing my Crystal Healing and Reiki Certification programs, and I ultimately ended up going through the Level 1 and Level 2 Diploma Trainings through The International Sound Healing Academy over the next 18 months to learn more. Because of the intensity of the certification process, by the time I was finishing up the Level 2 training, I felt ready to take it from a side-hustle to my full-time work!
I’ve now been a full-time Sound Practitioner for almost four years. I offer private and public sound baths, sell crystal singing bowls and other sound healing instruments and teach and train others to work with the power of sound to help others. I also just released my first-ever course, Music Theory for Sound Healers (www.musictheoryforsoundhealers.thinkific.com) this past fall. I am extremely passionate about education around the practice of sound healing and am really grateful for each of the aspects of my work!
How is your Sound Healing Training structured?
I offer two training levels through the Sound Healing Academy: Level 1 and Level 2 Diploma in Integral Sound Healing with Crystal Singing Bowls. The Level 1 training involves a 2-day in-person or online workshop with me followed by a 3-month container to complete the course videos and workbooks. Once students complete the Level 1 certificate, they are able to join a Level 2 Diploma, which is 4 days long in person followed by a year-long container to complete the videos, workbooks, and case studies. The trainings are quite involved and rigorous but really arm you with the knowledge to step into sound healing as a business!
My region within the Sound Healing Academy is in the southeast US so I run workshops in cities including DC, Nashville, Virginia Beach, and Atlanta. Many of these are also a retreat-like experience where students can stay on the property where the workshops are held to really immerse themselves in the process.
I then often work with students as a mentor to get their sound healing practices off the ground. My mentorship program is one of my favorite offerings as I’m able to work closely with former students, and other people in the healing community to help build their businesses from the ground up: from working on their services and pricing structures to pitching themselves to clients.
Can you tell us a bit more about your new course, Music Theory for Sound Healers?
I created Music Theory for Sound Healers to support students who feel that their sound healing trainings left them wanting more as far as the music education goes. Surprisingly, only about 10% of the people who go through my trainings have any music background. My course is designed to bridge the gap between the expansive worlds of sound healing and music theory: breaking down essential musical concepts like creating harmony, dynamics and triads to empower people to create more profound and effective sound bath experiences. The self-paced course has over 3 hours of video content and an interactive workbook to give you lots of practice exercises to do along the way. I’m super happy with how it all turned out and love that I have this resource for people who want to learn more about this important aspect of sound healing!
What other services do you offer?
I sell crystal singing bowls and other instruments to people in all stages of their sound healing journeys. Matching people with their “bowl mates” is one of my favorite things to do! You and your readers can take my free “Find Your Bowlmate” quiz on my website to find out the most ideal bowl for you (kaycelaine.com/find-your-bowlmate-quiz) or check out my free Crystal Bowl Buying Guide to learn more about how to make an educated investment in these instruments (kaycelaine.com/your-ultimate-crystal-singing-bowls-buying-guide.
