In this exclusive interview, MysticMag connects with Katrina Rasbold, an accomplished author, witch, and spiritual practitioner. Katrina shares her journey from writing her first book to opening her metaphysical store and becoming a professional in spiritual cleansing and spellwork. She also offers an inside look into her unique practices, such as candle glass readings, and discusses her thriving online business, Crossroads Occult.
What were your professional beginnings like and how did you get into the line of work you’re doing now?
I wrote my first book in 2013 and ultimately wrote thirteen books within a year’s time. I opened my first metaphysical store in 2014 and that is when I began putting the spiritual cleansing practices I’d learned over the years into a professional format. Through the shop, I began doing spellwork for people professionally, which I continue to do to this day. I have identified as Pagan and a Witch since 1983 and led working groups and circles in different places around the world since then. What is a candle glass reading and can you walk me through one?
When a person sets a glass prayer candle with a certain intention and burns it, the artifacts left by the wax, herb, glitter, and char remnants tell us certain things about how the desired outcome received the energy of the candle. If there is significant black soot, we know the energy met strong resistance and the goal will require more energy than it would have if the candle glass was clean at the end of the burning. If the inside of the glass is coated with white soot after the burn completes, we know that there is a strong Divine influence and assistance for the goal. If the candle glass breaks and there is resistance, we know there are strong forces working against the goal. If the candle glass breaks and there is no black soot, we know the candle raised strong energy for the goal. A candle glass reading tells us if what we want is likely to happen and whether the energy we sent is sufficient to produce the desired outcome. These are just a few of the indicators we look for in a candle glass reading.

Crossroads Occult is the online business my husband and I run offering handmade spiritual tools and services. We retired from our brick-and-mortar retail shop, “Crossroads Metaphysical Store,” in 2022 and from festival work in 2023, so our full reach is now online.

We offer astrology charts, various types of spellwork, setting the lights (burning candles toward a client’s goal), remote spiritual cleansings, online classes, and remote readings using Tarot, Lenormand, and Oracle cards. As an author, what books have you written and what are they about?
I have written 42 books on various aspects of spirituality, Witchcraft, and folk magic. I wrote an eight-book fictional series, The Seven Sisters of Avalon Series, about post-Arthurian Avalon, and my husband and I co-wrote the Bio-Universal Energy Series which explores the use of personal and Divine energy to manifest positive life changes. I recently released a book called Warm Hands: A Comprehensive Guide to Bio-Universal Healing, which is a complete guide to the type of healing and cleansing work I do. I recently released a new edition of one of my most popular books, Goddess in the Kitchen which covers Kitchen Witchery.
