Could you tell us a bit about your background and how you started your journey in working with animals?

Thanks to my mum I’ve always had an interest in all things spiritual but didn’t do much about it for a long time. In my 40s I started going to psychic development groups, workshops and fairs after I had met someone in 1999 who taught me to read Tarot cards. I loved working with the cards and began reading them professionally around 2006.

One of my dogs visited an Animal Communicator around that time and I was blown away by the information I was given and wished that one day I might learn to do this myself.

In 2010 I found out about an Animal Communication workshop and went along. By the end of it I understood why I have incarnated into this lifetime and also why every event in my life had happened. It was all to bring me to this moment in time when I found my soul’s purpose, my reason for being on this physical plane at this time. I had found my vocation.

For anyone who has had a close relationship with an animal it would be clear that animals have recognition, memory, decision-making abilities, intelligence, and a wide range of emotions. Could you tell us a bit about your own experience of this and how you connect with animals?

Animals are so much more than most people understand. They are souls like us. The depth of their understanding is not generally understood. Learning to speak with them has changed everything about my thoughts on life, death, the afterlife and so much more. They have been my greatest teachers.

One of the biggest things they’ve taught me is that they are no different from us except in the species they choose to be for this lifetime. If a soul decides to reincarnate as a horse they have all the instincts and drives of a horse. They are subject to the fears associated with being a prey animal for example. A cat will have a strong desire to hunt. A dog will want to chase pretty much anything that moves. But this doesn’t mean that their natural instincts are all there is to them.

Most animals are much more connected spiritually than we are. They know where they came from and often know what lessons they’re here to learn. They are usually with a particular person for a reason, so that they can help them learn lessons too.

When I connect telepathically with an animal I’m normally working remotely so I use a photograph. I may pick up words, images and feelings, and they can engage my physical senses so that I experience pain, taste, smells, etc. Animal Communicators can connect with those who have passed over as well as those living here in a physical existence.

What are the more popular aspects that your clients seek guidance on?

The two main areas are health and behaviour. When one of our beloved animals is ill we want to do everything we can to help them. By speaking with them we can find out a lot about how they are feeling. They can tell us how bad the pain is, whether the treatments they are receiving are making them feel better and sometimes they know what they need to help them.

They blow my mind when they ask for herbs I’ve never heard of, or physical therapy treatments that I never knew could be used for the type of illness they have. One dog asked for Shiatsu for her digestive problems. I had always thought it was a therapy for joint issues, but she was right. Shiatsu is often used for her issues.

Behavioural issues can be challenging, whether our cat isn’t using the litter tray, which can very often be helped by a reading, or our dog refuses to walk on a leash, or maybe we have a horse that hates the farrier and resists having her feet worked on.

The funny thing is that most animals tell the truth during readings, but some dogs will lie to avoid helping us find a way to stop them doing a behaviour we don’t like but they thoroughly enjoy doing!

It’s not unusual to find that after talking about it the behaviour changes or sometimes stops it entirely. What we see as bad behaviour can be caused by relationship issues. One of the readings I offer is Herd/Pack dynamics, where we speak with each of the animals to find out how they feel about each other and why, then we explore with them what could be done to help them fix their relationships.

Is there anything that you would tell pet owners not to do when communicating with their pet?

I think the main thing would be don’t second guess yourself. Whether we know it or not we are all receiving communications from the animals in our lives multiple times a day. We often know things, or feel things and it’s because our pet is communicating information to us. We dismiss these things, don’t believe it, can’t believe that we are picking something up. I suggest you just go with it. If you feel like your cat might want to go outside it’s likely she’s told you, so let her out. If you go to take your dog for a walk and you usually turn left but today you feel the urge to go right, that’s your dog asking for a change of scene. The more you go with these things the more you’ll pick up and the better your relationship will be. Animals LOVE to be allowed to make more decisions about their lives.

And there’s one thing I often suggest to my clients that they should do when communicating with their animals. That is to use visualisation to communicate important information. Many animals are very good at picking up visualisations from us so, for example, if you’re going to be away from home for 3 days you can sit with your pet and picture you leaving, then it gets dark and light 3 times, then see yourself coming back and there’s a happy reunion. This lets them know how long you’ll be away for.
