This week we had the opportunity to speak with Julie Adreani, a prominent Spirit Medium. We discussed her beginnings, sessions, and what she loves most about her job.
When did you first know that being a psychic medium was your calling and how did it come about?
Beginning at the age of 4, I would see a man every night guarding my bedroom door. I was convinced he was the boogie man. I shared a room with my sisters and they did not see him so I felt it was a bad thing. I would often sleep with my mom to make sure he couldn’t take me. I was always very sensitive to spirits and remember having a very heavy feeling on my chest whenever I would encounter one. As I got older, I learned to keep all of this to myself as people thought it was strange..
I got married at a very young age and started raising a family. I had premonitions of impending death for my father. My father passed when I was in my 20’s and I knew then that mediumship was going to be my path. But I needed time to be a mother and my husband did not approve of my mediumship.
I began working as an EMT paramedic and then in the Children’s Hospital in a surgical heart unit where there was a lot of transitioning. I was privileged to witness the passing of beautiful souls. I always sent them my love during their transition. Often I would see their spirit lights emanating up from their body. I believe working in the hospital unit helped me become a better medium. I knew it was not for me to impose on anyone’s grief, but rather to offer support to parents and families. I joined a small pediatric bereavement committee, for families to have their children honored, and unbeknown to them, reunions were taking place.
To answer your question, I was in my mid 20s when I realized this was my path. I did not start working publicly until later in life. The catalyst was a promise I made to God to serve and help others when my son was brought into the hospital as a DOA. He had been in a tragic motorcycle accident. This event was life-changing and my son survived. Eventually, I knew I needed to honor my promise to God and share my abilities openly.
What is the most popular type of reading that customers are looking for? What are the most common concerns that interest them?
I have found the most popular reading to be mediumship. Most people are longing for a connection to their loved ones and they want to know that their loved ones are all right, and not in pain or suffering in any way.
Although in the last year during the lockdowns and Covid psychic readings have really gone up because so many people are going through so much uncertainty. With the psychic readings their most common concerns are what is next for them with their employment concerns, love life and relationships and financial and retirement.
Are some types of psychic readings more demanding or difficult than others?
Yes, when I do group readings these require much more time and energy on my part. They are more demanding on my physical body as I am bringing through multiple messages for multiple people.
Not to mention the medium is usually very sensitive to energy from everyone so if I am reading at someone else’s home or at a venue, all of these things have to be taken into consideration and dealt with before the readings begin. So I really have to be grounded and work with my guides much more closely.
Same as for one on one reading – some of the most difficult ones I find our families that have suffered through losing their loved ones due to a violent crime, murder. I live in Chicago the murder capital of the United States and it is very heavy and emotionally taxing.
The Medium has to be very sensitive to the family‘s needs and emotions so while giving evidence for the family, not graphically but lovingly. So that the family or recipient understands that you are with their loved one while giving evidentiary evidence kindly and being mindful that they are grieving. I always ask my Spirit person to give me some happy memories to leave with the family. It is my focus and I truly believe that mediumship is a form of healing the bereaved.
Some of the psychic sessions are still performed in person. What about you? How has your work been affected by the pandemic?
I am still continuing to do my readings through zoom and online. I am a Physical Medium as well as a Mental Medium so the only mediumship I am doing in-person is when I am participating in a Physical Mediumship group or Circle. For me, my mental Mediumship and Psychic work have actually exploded during Covid and the lockdowns. For me reading people’s energy online is actually easier.
I have been doing zoom readings for over three years so I was well prepared to take all of my readings including group readings online. I am very comfortable and for me picking up on people’s auras and energies are just as easy as long as I can hear their voice and see their eyes.
I am in my own home environment, where I don’t have to deal with other people’s homes, energies, and environment or having people coming into my home. I actually love doing online readings and I feel it’s very important To bring some spirituality into the online arena.
We need to balance out some of the artificial intelligence. I also am a winter Snowbird to AZ in the winter. Having the capability to read online from wherever I happen to choose to be is so empowering.
What is the most important detail in maintaining a relationship of mutual trust with customers?
Sincerity, honesty, and basically living a clean truthful life yourself. Integrity is something that people can feel with you. I feel very strongly about living my daily life as a kind loving person. I feel that this is one reason why people are attracted to my energy to read for them.
Most of my business is word-of-mouth recommendations. I have lots of clients that have been with me for years. I feel we all have our own vibration – meeting people where they are, and helping them in whatever way or modality that you can provide for them. This is the best way to maintain a relationship of mutual trust with my customers.
Should you see something bad in someone’s future, how do you go about dealing with that situation?
Personally, I do not see things that happen in life as bad. I see everything as a lesson that our soul has actually signed up to participate in. If I do see struggles or sudden changes, I am very kind and honest in a loving way. You can present something in a fashion where you teach this person that everything is an experience and help them see their own power and abilities to co-create their futures.
Everything I see is probability. Where there is more than one person involved the free will of all involved can influence the outcome. So I like to empower my clients and help them see their abilities and the good in themselves. So I really believe it’s about perception. If we don’t always perceive things as bad but just different and that we can be in the process of transitioning and soul growth. I am very positive.
I love to pour that into my clients. I encourage everyone to step back and look at the situation from different angles and different perspectives. I also love to empower my clients by doing a little about how important self-care is. That they need to honor themselves by living a healthier lifestyle and taking care of themselves.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is the joy in knowing that I am always spiritually connected. Helping others see that they are never alone. Our angels, guides, and inspirers are always with us. Our loved ones that have crossed over are always available.
I also love to help people recognize the signs that they are getting from their loved ones. I love seeing the shift in their aura and their energy after the readings. It is my highest honor and privilege to be working with both sides of the veil. Honestly, there really is no separation.
