Joe Tabbanella’s life took a profound turn when he realized that true happiness and success are born from within. This epiphany liberated him from the endless cycle of external attachments and aversions, paradoxically bringing external conditions into harmony. Following a life-changing experience, Joe dedicated himself to imparting the insights and practices that transformed his life. He delved into modalities like Hypnosis, Mindfulness, BrainSpotting, Biofeedback, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), radical acceptance, Open Focus (SynchronousAlpha), and Mental & Emotional Release (MER). Through his personalized approach, the Tabb Technique, Joe not only aids clients in aligning their creative and automated minds with their conscious minds but also instructs and certifies students in these powerful modalities. Join Mystic Mag as we explore Joe’s inspiring journey and the innovative methods he employs to guide others towards their desired outcomes.
Can you share with us how you discovered the principles you integrate into your practice, particularly in Hypnosis, Mindfulness, BrainSpotting, Biofeedback, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), radical acceptance, Open Focus, and Mental & Emotional Release (MER)?
Since I was 19 I became aware of an intuitive voce which helped me through challenges. Neuroscientists sometimes refer to this as the “wise advocate”. In spiritual circles it might be referred to as guides, angels or god. Whatever it is, this intuitive guidance has never been wrong. It always offers guidance with a simple but profound question. One, I would never consider asking myself.
Answering the question always changed my life. The principles in the above mentioned modalities mirrored the principles present in the solution, when answering the question.
What inspired you to develop the Tabb Technique, and how has it evolved over time based on your experiences and insights?
Years of personal and professional experience helped to identify which principles and practices worked. Over time, I became more interested in why clients or myself were not engaging in them. This triggered a need to discover underlying structures that govern resistance to new behavior.
Could you explain the Tabb Technique in more detail and walk us through how it aligns the creative and automated mind with the conscious mind?
Becoming aware of unconscious projections, which are held in place by emotional baggage, helps to identify the antecedent to unwanted behavior.
Through psychoeducation, clients understand why they are projecting these patterns and how to resolve them. This orients them back to intention oriented behavior, as opposed to reactive behavior. We are essentially orienting them to the mindset that resulted in walking, talking and learning to write the alphabet.
What type of services do you offer?
Any challenge that requires the removal of a self imposed, societal imposed or family imposed limitation. Any challenge that requires the integration and reduction of extraneous or superfluous stress hormones in order to find healthy solutions to a challenge. This includes relationship issues, financial issues, career issues and life alignment issues. Some issues require a medical or psychological referral.
In your opinion, what are the key differences between traditional approaches to therapy and your fusion of modalities, and how do these differences benefit your clients?
There is benefit in all approaches. I have found that thinking differently, without understanding the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and how to self-regulate, can result in behavior being hijacked by the sympathetic branch (arousal) of the ANS. Focusing only on self-regulation without mental reframing and intentionally focussed orientation can result in a recursive feedback loop, resulting in more sensitivity to emotional stress. Engaging in any of these practices without experiencing positive results in the real world, through action, can result in an addiction to processing.
As someone who deals with both clients and students, what challenges do you face in balancing your time between client sessions and instructional responsibilities?
There doesn’t seem to be enough time in a day to share everything I want to share. Information and insight are essential but without implementation and practice, it’s just an interesting discussion. Practice and implementation is essential but without insight and psychoeducation, it often results in defense mechanisms kicking in and stopping the new behavior.
