In our latest MysticMag interview, we sit down with Jamie C. Goodwin, a unique spiritual guide whose life journey has taken him from the mystical challenges of childhood to founding an eco-village and mastering wilderness survival. Jamie shares his remarkable story of resilience, spiritual exploration, and the transformative power of nature, offering profound insights into healing and self-discovery.
Who is Jamie C. Goodwin? What is your personal story and what led you down this spiritual path?
I grew up with a wonderful family, but I always had extra senses that most people didn’t see. I saw from a young age that there is more to life than meets the eye. I could read people, and know what they wanted. I see the future in my dreams. As a child, this gave me an interesting social advantage. Every night was lucid for me.
Then school broke me. I don’t thrive in structured organizations. Being different and mystically minded attracts bullies. From the students to the teachers, I got mistreated. My life got harder and I fell into the wrong crowd. I learned protection came from making others fear me and hiding my gifts. Violence and difficulty hounded me daily so I used drugs as an escape to cope with the spiritual distress.
Spirits would come and drain my energy almost every night. I didn’t have the strength to fight back. I worried about my poor family and caused them stress. It was damaging to attend school. I then studied art in college and university. My life opened up. For seven years, I explored my creativity. I then got a BA Hons in fine arts. After uni, I realized I needed something indescribable.
I moved onto the family land saved from developers in the 80s and founded an eco-village there. It’s an ancient forest with a holy well. I drink that holy water daily now. My curiosity took me places. I left the project and traveled the world, soaking up ancient cultures like a sponge and. finally, settling in Bristol after leaving a spiritual cult that took eight years of my life. The cult gave me unimaginable secrets to reality.
I then lost everything in 2020. I decided to return to the wilderness. It was like coming back to a post-apocalyptic scene. The eco-village was in ruins. Only one cabin remained. By this time, all my past trauma raged. I was volatile, aggressive, and grieving, making everything harder.
However, I had a lifetime of knowledge and the time to test it on myself in survival situations. Wilderness survival destroys self-pity. With no money and heaps of debt, I had to survive. Everything I’d learned over the last two decades blossomed. Each day I grew stronger, lucid, and powerful. I healed every aspect of myself and everything became a beautiful spiritual experience. I decided to get qualified to help others achieve the same.
I support incredible humans to heal themselves. My work is art, writing, and a mixture of counseling, coaching, and spiritual guidance.
What are the benefits of living in the wilderness nowadays and how is that reflected in your work?
My whole life is in the wilderness. I am nature. I could never go back. I’ve survived here for four years with no money and I’m happy. The wilderness gives you the spiritual energy to carry on, even in the most challenging situations. Nature forgives.
I am a reflection of that wild freedom. It brings a new dimension to my work, one outside of societal pressure.
What kind of spiritual artwork do you make?
My art revolves around letting go. I make paintings combining the female form, nature, and abstract. Each piece helps people release their pain. Everything communicates the beauty of reality and the freedom from cognitive distortion. The goal of each artwork is inner peace. I love to bring the wilderness to people. I do that in sculpture so others can experience the healing nature provides.
What ideas and principles do you base your counseling on and what can people hope to achieve through it?
I take a holistic approach to helping people. I like to think of myself as an eclectic spiritual guide. When I came back to the wilderness, I knew I had to do this right. I am qualified in counseling, coaching, mentorship, and spiritual and holistic care. During that time I took a lot of inspiration from the greats in psychology, like Jung and Egan.
They taught me more than psychological theories. I discovered the best way to support others, and how to be helpful. Before getting certified, I spent two decades researching ancient culture. Spirituality has been the core drive of my self-study.
I saw almost all ancient traditions cross over. They meet in the middle with modern-day psychological science. It is because I studied art for seven years after school. My pattern recognition is quite sensitive. I decided during my adventures which took me around the world, I had to test everything on myself.
The rough start from school gave me a perfect arena to play around with everything later in life. I had the experience to know how to help others. I call this offering the breakthrough call. It gives those who get accepted the guidance they need to overcome hardship. Each call is dripping in mental gold, juicy insights, and direct empowerment. My clients make huge progress in all aspects of their life.
My clients break free from limitations and actualize their true calling. It usually starts with a challenge like emotional pain, trauma, or a difficult social situation. Once they conquer that, it shifts to self-awareness, and where they want to go. Past that point, spiritual growth becomes exponential because spirituality is the foundation for thriving in life.
I’ve seen people overcome even the most debilitating circumstances. All in a small 30-minute call. It’s humbling, and I can’t take credit. Because the real secret to healing, is that you support the person to heal themselves. My guidance, encouragement, and non-judgmental holistic care make that happen. All you need is a breakthrough. I see it all the time.
What role does spirituality have in your writing and what can you tell me about that part of your work?
My writing shares my spiritual journey. I go into detail about the challenges I’ve faced, and how I overcame adversity. The goal is to give people hope, strength, and actionable knowledge to support them to do the same. Each story is true. My life has been adventure-packed. Each wild ride taught me something incredible.
I share those lessons with words and insights that help others do what they believe they can’t. Each article, book, or memoir is in itself, a story of spiritual struggle and triumph. I do my best to keep it practical, actionable, and usable for others to do the same.

Do you have any special messages for our readers?
Don’t give up on yourself. So many people allow life to break their spirit. The challenges I’ve faced could have done that thousands of times over. Yet even against all odds, with nothing, no money, and no help, I survived in the wilderness and thrived. If I can do that, you can too. So don’t give up.
