You have a diverse background in fitness, yoga, massage therapy, and Ayurveda, can you share how your journey in the wellness industry has evolved?
The first decade of my career was hyper focused on the physical body. I had 20 fitness and nutrition certifications within the first few years! I really wanted to help people feel their best physically because I felt like the only way to achieve your goals in life is when you are as healthy and energetic as possible. After working with hundreds of clients I began to realize that the biggest thing holding people back from attaining a healthy physical body was actually their mind.
The second decade of my career was spent on understanding the mind and the mind-body connection. I became immersed in the world of yoga and even lived at an ashram for over a year to live the yogic lifestyle fully and learn as much as possible through my own experience. Life threw me a curveball and I fell incredibly ill after a 24-hour stomach bug and became paralyzed with Guillain Barre Syndrome. This began a 5-year health crisis that taught me more about the mind-body connection than any certification ever could. I continued my studies despite how ill I was and began to focus on healing and the subconscious mind more.
I have started my third decade in the wellness world and I am dedicating it to studying energetics and the spirit. We are mind-body-spirit and we often get too focused on just one of those worlds. I love the journey my career and curiosity have brought me on. I deeply enjoy helping people in any way that I can with their health and wellness. Since I have been through my own journey to wellness, I can honor and appreciate where others are at on their own journey without judgment. I treasure the people who have crossed my path and trusted me with their bodies and minds. It truly is a privilege.
Given your 60 certifications, how do you tailor your coaching methods to meet the unique spiritual and wellness needs of each client, recognizing that one size does not fit all?
I meet my clients where they are on their journey. Not everyone who comes to me wants to heal the past, not everyone wants to work out or change their eating habits. I look at wellness as an evolutionary journey. We are ready for certain things at different times in our lives and other things may never resonate with us. I have observed and been part of so many different journeys over the last couple of decades that I know there is no one-size-fits-all approach to coaching. I find looking at my clients’ Human Design and Ayurvedic dosha can help me gain perspective on how to customize my coaching and services but above all, it requires asking the right questions and deep listening.
What type of services do you offer?
Customized Fitness Plans – COVID put the world on a trend of workouts built for the masses. Every human body is so unique with prior injuries and surgeries, aches and pains, tight spots, weak areas, and more. I love customizing workout plans, yoga sessions, and guided meditations for my clients to both do online with me over Zoom or to do on their own with videos I record just for them.
Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching – Getting into a healthy routine can be hard without accountability. The online world can be overwhelming with contradictory information on what you should and shouldn’t eat and we can feel pressured to follow the habits of the highly successful that don’t actually end up working for us. I help my clients make small changes over time and tweak their routines to help them thrive offering guidance, support, and accountability.
Human Design & Gene Keys Coaching – These are extremely empowering systems that can help us understand ourselves, our relationships, our purpose, and our healing journey on a whole different level. My clients love learning about how their energy works and discovering a language that helps them navigate life with greater ease and satisfaction.
Healing the Past – This is an extremely important yet often overlooked part of wellness. Our society encourages us to “get back to normal” quickly after deaths, births, divorce, miscarriages, and more. We aren’t given any guidance or even time to heal after extremely traumatizing events. Burying our past and suppressing emotions can lead to physical and mental illness. I use different energy healing practices and spiritual life coaching to help my clients address their past, rewrite their stories, and attain a greater peace of mind.
How do you emphasize and foster the mind-body connection in your coaching sessions, and what impact do you believe this connection has on overall spiritual growth?
I nurture the mind-body connection in my coaching sessions by offering breathwork, movement, and somatic practices in addition to asking questions to get to the root of issues. Just by changing your posture, you can change your mood. There are many different practices that you can do with your body that will help free up the mind and your emotions. It is important to be able to assess which practices would be most helpful for a client at the moment. When clients are given different tools and are practicing them in our sessions then they begin to turn to them in their times of need. They are given healthier coping mechanisms and can face their struggles with more confidence simply by connecting with their body in different ways. I think it can be difficult to know what to do mentally to get out of anxiety or overwhelm but when you are given physical practices, it is more accessible.
As an Ayurvedic practitioner, how do you incorporate Ayurvedic principles into your coaching to enhance spiritual well-being, and what benefits have you observed in your clients?
I use the Ayurvedic wheel of wellness in my coaching practice to look at eight different aspects of my client’s health and well-being. The eight aspects are physical wellness, emotional wellness, relationship wellness, occupational wellness, financial wellness, environmental wellness, spiritual wellness, and healing the past. By looking at which aspects are out of balance, it brings clarity on what to focus on improving. Once we begin working on those aspects, they begin to feel better in body, mind, and spirit. I have noticed my clients really enjoy looking at life through a different lens and it helps them tap into a higher version of themselves. Most of my clients have no idea they have been telling themselves a story that keeps them a victim of their past. They are able to overcome and heal different aspects that are holding them back and begin to approach life with more love and gratitude.
How do you foster a sense of community and connection among your clients, recognizing the importance of support networks in the spiritual and wellness journey?
I offer several group coaching programs for three months at a time that help my clients connect together and it makes them realize that they aren’t alone on this healing journey. Social media and apps have been a huge blessing in fostering connection and community. Many of my group coaching clients become friends that keep in touch long after the programs are over. I also offer retreats here in El Salvador to bring people together for a more intense bonding and healing experience.
