How did you first become interested in tarot reading and life coaching, and what led you to pursue these professions?
Reading tarot cards has played a significant part in my life for the past fifteen years. I suppose I was always interested in knowing the future or giving guidance. I recently looked through some old photographs and discovered I dressed as a European fortune teller for my grade six Halloween costume. That costume was undoubtedly an act of planting seeds that would take some time to take root and flourish.
While in a challenging period, a friend pulled a few tarot cards that resonated with what I was going through. After the suggestion, I studied my tarot cards and book daily for five years. I gave hundreds of free readings to my staff team and colleagues at festivals on the lakeshore while having a picnic, as well as to family and friends. However, I never received a payment. I felt I needed to be more worthy of receiving compensation for my work. How does one even begin to ask for money for something they love to do?
In the meantime, I began studying to be a spiritual psychotherapist and offered a reading to a classmate. She said it was so spot on that she attempted to pay me $20. I repeatedly denied the gesture until she grabbed my hand, placed the $20 in it, and said, “Gill, take this money. You are good at this. Take the money.” I finally accepted her money, and this one small action professionally unfolded my entire world of tarot card readings. I am good at what I do. I am worthy of payment for a unique experience only I can provide. I heard the knock at the door, and I was ready to answer it.
Dr. Joe Vitale says, “The Universe likes speed,” and boy, is Dr. Vitale right. Within a week, a colleague called me and asked if I was still reading tarot cards. She was having a bachelorette party and invited me to give readings for her and her guests. That opportunity opened up getting paid to read tarot cards; after that, my door was wide open. From there, I began building a list of clients with many referrals. I created a website, made business cards, and started booking Tarot Readings individually and for parties.
Over time, I got hired as a reader at the Psychic Brunch in Toronto and Toronto’s Pride Weekend. I also did Tarot Reading events while I lived in Korea, and I read cards as a side hustle for years. I made it officially my business last year after fifteen years of being connected to the cards.
Over the years, I have had a few life coaches that have supported powerful transformations. My last coach was supportive and inspiring; I want to be like her. I waited six years before taking the extensive life coaching course through Beautiful You Coaching Academy. Now, I have a growing practice of Tarot Readings and Life Coaching, and I genuinely love what I do!
How do you integrate the use of tarot cards into your life coaching practice? What unique insights or perspectives do they offer?
From the beginning of every Tarot reading, I integrate life coaching skills by introducing a five-step process of how the reading will flow. The first of the steps takes place after the session. Clients are given access to my Tarot Reading Self-Work page; This page provides life coaching tools to support their growth and provide support after the tarot reading session. After a reading, clients generally have a lot to process, and while they have been given more insight from what the cards reveal–they need to take action!
To wrap up the session, I always incorporate an Oracle card when providing a Life Coaching series. Tarot cards, oracle cards, and life coaching complement each other very well.
What type of services do you offer?
I offer:
● 15, 30, 45, and 90-minute Tarot Card Readings
● Individual and Couples Astrology Chart Readings
● Life Coaching
● Tarot Corporate Events & Private Parties
● Workshops on Intuitive, Psychic, and Telepathy Development, Learning and Exploring Tarot & Oracle Cards, Cultivating Self-Love
What methods or techniques do you use to ensure that your tarot readings and life coaching sessions are personalized and tailored to each individual’s needs?
When clients sign up for a session through my booking system, they are prompted to answer a few questions to let me know what the client is inquiring about. Initially, I ask a few more questions to ensure the client gets their inquiries answered. Based on the results of the reading, I offer specific homework (self-work) that will offer some additional guidance and support.
How do you handle skeptics or individuals who may be hesitant about engaging in tarot readings or life coaching?
I do not handle them.
I am not here to convince anyone that Tarot Readings or Life Coaching are for them. I am frank about my abilities, skills, and my approach. I attract clients that are ready for Tarot Readings and Life Coaching. I am very intentional about the type of clients I want to attract, and so far, that approach has worked well with me.
How do you continue to develop your skills as a tarot reader and life coach? Are there any ongoing training, certifications, or personal practices that you engage in to enhance your abilities?
I develop my skills daily. I pull cards for myself, meditate, journal, eat consciously, move my body, spend time in nature, read and learn regularly, and practice fun ways to stay connected to my intuition and Universe/Source/God. I work with various types of coaches, such as my health coach and business coach, to continue expanding my life coach skills. I also attend workshops every 1-2 years.
My journey has taken me to many therapists, healers, and spiritualists in Toronto and worldwide. Now, it’s come full circle. After fifteen years, I am back at the Gestalt Institute of Toronto, studying to be a registered psychotherapist. My life path has led me to support others to be fully heard, seen, and felt.
