Can you briefly explain what lithomancy is and how it differs from other divination methods?

I learned about lithomancy in 1980 from a very gifted psychic. I’d never seen it. I’ve been given readings myself since the early 70s, and I met this lady named Alice Worrall through a friend. I was going through some difficulties at the time and he suggested I talk to her. She was amazing and she did a reading for me by the method called Lithomancy. It basically involves 16 stones. Ten of them are planted stones, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto, and six are stones based on life, life, love, luck, commitment, timing and place.

When I do it in person, people drop the stones, all 16 about 12 inches above the circle of leather. The circle of leather defines a circle, defines a clock. It’s about 14 inches wide, 14 inches in diameter. Little thin piece of leather. Then I read the pattern that’s formed from the centre up to 12:00 o’clock the start of the first week and then around like o’clock for 12 weeks. And I interpret information depending on how the stones touch and point and so forth.

When she gave me the reading in 1980, I was very fascinated because I’ve never seen this before, never heard of it before. And I asked her if she could teach me, and she did. It’s very intuitive. Here’s the stones. Here’s what they represent. Here’s a clock. There’s not a whole lot that she could teach me as opposed to if you learn tarot cards or piano or golf, there’s a million different ways to look at it. There’s a lot of ways to look at lithomancy, but still, it boils down to reading a pattern of stones around like a clock for three months, 12 weeks, and sometimes beyond, if the stones land outside the circle.

I couldn’t find much information about lithomancy other than little excerpts and comments about how many different styles have existed over the years or decades or centuries, but not much technical information about how the system works. So, I started writing lithomancy, The Psychic Art of Reading Stones. Which is based on research and experience. I published the book about 12 years ago or so and I suggest people – learn to think in terms of symbolism, because life is symbolism. We can learn stuff at every second in time just by interpreting what’s going on. The best we can. There’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs, but basically, the way we interpret life is in our heart, our mind, our souls. I try to encourage people to tap into that power. Now when I do lithomancy readings, I don’t try to point out, for example a guy named John in three weeks is going to call you, because it may be a guy named Joe and it may be 3 months or it may not even be. I tend to focus on what people are going through at this period of their life, why, and what they can do to bring more power, enlightenment, soul, happiness, success, and peace to their lives.

How did you discover your psychic abilities and what drew you to specialise in lithomancy and card readings?

I was raised Catholic. I was an altar boy. I learned the whole mass in Latin when I was 12 years old. But when I went through puberty, I started questioning the Catholic Church and their antiquated views of normal human sexuality. So, I started really questioning if these guys can’t even deal with human sexuality. How? How do they grow and evolve and learn in life, if you can’t get by it past your own body functions. How are you going to understand the higher mind? That propelled me in college through some friends, through some psychics, through some coincidences. I started reading a lot about Madam Blavatsky, Edgar Casey, Ruth Montgomery, a lot of different psychics, especially Edgar Casey, as the first explanation of God and the Universe, and Infinity and fairness and Karma and justice, and why things or the way they made sense to me. It made complete sense and from that point on I became more and more interested in developing my own ability. And this is back in the late 60s.

In 1970, I moved to Austin. I’d seen a couple different psychics, and they all said “you ought to get into your psychic ability, you’ve got a natural gift there”. I started, in the early 70s, mid 70s basically, doing readings by a regular deck of playing cards. In 1980, I met Alice Worrall, who taught me lithomancy, and that became my main method. I feel very inspired, honoured and glad that I can help people through some troubling times, because I’ve certainly needed help, and I’ve certainly gone through troubling times and I’ve certainly asked for help. It is important to ask your guides to help you.

Are there any particular stones or cards that you find especially intriguing or powerful in your practice?

I don’t know that much about mineralogy. I know some obvious things – Obsidian and Turquoise and things like that. But I use it more as symbols the 16 stones I picked. They just seem to be appropriate. They’re different sizes, different colours, but whatever way they land, I can see how they’re pointing how they’re touching, and that’s through experience.

I lived in Europe in the 90s. I’m a musician also, and I was playing music over there all during the 90s. A lot of people, both fellow musicians and patrons of the club who kept seeing me started realising I gave psychic readings. I didn’t mention it on stage, but I gave a lot of people readings. I had a lot of people start asking me for readings, and many times I didn’t have my stones with me, they were at my girlfriend’s house or over to another. I finally decided – Wait, I’ll read anything. I invited them up to my apartment. On a table, I’d have them lay out trinkets and earring cards and ashtray, whatever they wanted to in any order, I would go into the kitchen, make some tea, meditate, come back in two or three minutes. I would read the objects they had placed on the table. I made sense of it.

In 1977, I went through a near death experience for a week. When that happened full blast 24/7 all day all night. I know that you can pick up anything from anything. But you have to practise. You have to develop a skill. You have to develop a judgement. I can teach anybody with 10 fingers and a little common sense some basic music theory, but I can’t make them play. I can’t make them move further.

Life always gives us constant taps on the shoulder, hence, the whole world we’re going through now, this big changing world is: humankind wise up – we’re going through this big period of change and confusion and chaos and extremism. Not to be tortured as human beings, but higher minds and the universe is trying to get us to see the holes in the boat, and the flaws in ourselves and our systems, so we can fix them. Because you can’t fix issues unless you know what’s broken.

I learned to read anything I could. I could read symbols a lot of times. I’ll ask a question and just look around and whatever my eyes fix on. And that’s not always a definite yes, right, left. But it’s kind of a comfort on the back to know that my guides are still. As I said, you have to ask your Gods to help you.

My near-death experience I had in 1977, I saw my guides. I went to infinite mind and back in a second or two. When I was hit head on by a speeding car, I was a pedestrian. I didn’t even get hurt, didn’t get a scratch. I have from that moment forward, believed in miracles. I lived through one. How could I deny it? I can’t push a button and make a miracle happen all the time. Believe me, if I could, we’d have a peaceful world.

What type of services do you offer?

I basically do readings through Lithomancy and use a regular deck of playing cards. I’ve got quite a few, probably 4 or 5000 people on my list of readings I’ve given. I definitely have a lot of experience with this. And I get pretty good results because of what I do tell people, about what they can do, as opposed to trying to pinpoint every little decision they’ll make in the next 24 hours or three months. They’ve got free will. They can do whatever they want, so I encourage people to use their free will to move toward their goals, to correct their mistakes. See how our own view of life is affected by the glasses we look through.

If we look through pink glasses, everything’s going pink, blue glasses, everything looks blue. I learned to look through the glasses no matter what I’ve gone through, no matter what I’m going through now or no matter what I will go through – I’m going to learn. I’m going to benefit. It’s obvious we can be knocked off course, hurt, frustrated, screwed over, whatever, but I always focus on what I can grow and I encourage people to do that all the time. And ask your guides. Our guides know the rules. And the rule is we came here with free will. They do not have the right to interfere with it. Guides do respect that rule. They do. They won’t interfere with our free will.

You put your intention on growing, evolving, learning. You put your intentions on asking your guides to help you, put your intentions on learning how to interpret things because they’re not going to call you up on the phone or send you an email. But if you’re looking for a new car and you happen to walk out in the street and pass a neighbour and that neighbour says “well, I don’t know if you’re interested, but my husband happened to be selling his car”, is that a coincidence? No. No such thing is a coincidence. No such thing as an accident. Everything is cause and effect. And we have the power of cause effect too. What you think, what you put in your head, what you work on, you’re not guaranteed everything, but the more you work on things, the more you put it in your head, the more you have good intentions, good perspectives, the more you allow yourself to be open and look in the mirror and fix your fears and doubts and issues. That’s about as close to heaven as you can get on this planet. When you get those energies, those thoughts, those ideas converging into empowerment rather than throwing you off like waves on the sea, that’s knocking your boat over.

How do you handle sensitive or challenging situations that may arise during a reading, such as delivering difficult messages to clients?

Usually, people only call me because they’re having some difficulties. A lot of times when I do readings, I pick up a lot less than the difficulties and more in the like that they can potentially grasp and pull them toward themselves. But I do not avoid focusing on people’s issues and problems. There’s no button I can push to make them change, make things different other than the button of them feeling empowerment and asking for help and so forth.

I’ve seen people when their business is not working, their relationship falling apart, maybe they lose a house that they’ve spent on because someone screws them over, or coincidence or karma or timing. All sorts of possibilities on this planet on this earth. When I see people with difficulties, I try to encourage them that the attitude and perspective is the first step. Don’t worry about what you can’t change. You can’t change the past. You can’t change other people. You can influence, beg, please, but you can’t change other people. There are 10 billion things that you can’t change. It’s all about the couple that you can change and that is how much power you have from this moment forward to make a happen, rather than maybe the default, if you don’t do something.

If we’re going down the street, we make a right turn instead of a left turn, we’ve helped Co-create a universe. A different universe than would be created if we went left. Every thought, every moment in time, 8 billion people on this planet are recreating multiple universes. It looks pretty seamless and it is pretty seamless, but we do have power over how the next days, hours, months unfold. How much power? What can we do? Well, let run the spectrum of human problems, issues, conflicts, but we are not powerless. However, if you see yourself as powerless, if you see yourself as behind the rock, and you can’t push the rock off by your own vision, by your own interpretation of the situation, you’ll be locked under that rock. I always encourage people that mastery and life is this moment forward. No matter what you’ve gone up to or gone through or have to deal with up to this moment. The future is not beyond your control. There are some things you can control, and some you can’t, so work on the ones you can control. Work on what you can change. Look at the same situation from a different perspective and make better decisions, different decisions.
