How and when did you discover your psychic gifts and how did your life change after that?

My intuitive skills revealed themselves first when I was 4 or 5, as an ability to hear and see spirit, and sense things. It was very loud and clear as an experience, but wasn’t responded to well because my elders weren’t energetically literate. They didn’t experience as I did so could only label it in other ways. Those moments were difficult for us all. Some of what I experienced intuitively wasn’t so pleasant. My response to this, over time, was to shut down.

While I “lost” the ability to hear and see obviously (i.e. as you’d see anything physical), I never separated from the ability to sense things – thoughts, feelings, energies of all sorts. That was, at times, very helpful especially when it came to supporting others. I would often “just know” in ways that came through as an ability to listen and help people process. My seeing and hearing skills wound back to a subtle level which I labelled, until my 30s, as my imagination. In addition to the above, in important moments, I have always been guided by a very firm voice. It’s always told me, “go this way” and has always been proven right.

I came to my intuition as an adult in my 30’s. Life cornered me to connect back in with it then. I was, at the time, working in multi-nationals as a strategic marketer. That came with lots of benefits as well as the need to function in, at times, very political settings. I’m not very agile with those rhythms and tended to run foul of them because it was my job to achieve organisational goals. I often sensed where people weren’t sharing all they wanted or needed to. That got me into interesting situations because I would try to elicit this info. At that stage, I had no idea that I was intuiting. I unconsciously assumed that everybody functioned like I did. I was also discovering that some people put their own ambitions above their organisation’s goals. I would sense undercurrents and try to resolve them because I sought the best, win-win outcomes.

Repeated experiences of the above pushed me to find help and make sense of the above. I didn’t know the difference between my intuition, personality or mind, but knew I needed guidance. I first found that in the Australian psychic, Kris Gibson, who helped me place things and learn creative visualisation. Becoming more curious, I sought out lessons run by the then Enmore Spiritualist Centre. These classes led me through the basics of connecting, clearing, reading, healing and spirit work.

After a few years, I started having un-mentored experiences. I would come home from work and be hit by energetic/intuitive dynamics which I would have to process alone. That was sometimes scary. I would never know what I was dealing with or why it was happening. All the way, though, I was guided by that voice. It helped me learn a lot. After a while, it also led me to Jewish synagogues. I needed to find an outside explanation for what was happening. I knew that I needed independent validation on what I seemed to be learning. For some reason, Jewish metaphysics did that. For over a decade, weekly shiurim (classes) helped me place my experiences in spiritual, intuitive, and energetic terms. The Rabbis never knew what I was experiencing. As they discussed kabbalah, I would receive additional messages. The Jewish system taught me about the two levels of self and how everything starts on the invisible level. It was this part of my journey that helped me learn how to place intuitive and energetic phenomena well.

How has my life changed? I believe it has helped me become more real and more objective (acknowledging we’re always learning this). My energetic and intuitive skills have helped me function beyond what’s surface, mind or model, and support and mentor others solidly because of this. My journey has shown me how important it is to live to your values and honour what you sense; how life is always trying to help the best of outcomes bloom; and how mind, customs, and models can get in the way of that. It’s also shown me how simple intuitive and spiritual development and being can be. As life has helped me become stronger in my sense of true self, I’ve been able to help others become independent and intuitive thinkers, manifesters, and beings. In that sense, my intuitive and spiritual journey enables me to become the best person, co-exister and professional I can be.

What energy healing modalities do you use?

In all of my work, I just channel. Irrespective of modality, that’s what we all do. It could be argued that the most important step is to choose what we want to work with, offer, represent, and receive from. If we know the Divine is actually real, we don’t need to control or instruct flow. By allowing Source in to inform, heal, and help others, we often end up helping more than first thought possible.

There are three ways to heal, simply speaking: by connecting with the physical body; by working at auric level; or further afield. Readings are often healings as well, whenever they’re done spiritually – i.e. under divine/universal guidance. It pays to aim for the highest and purest. Healings can involve all sorts of subjects – body, physical world, energetic, mental or emotional issues. I find it pays to never zero in on what the client says. That’s because everything is linked. An issue at the toe doesn’t mean the root cause is there. Hearing the problem, the dare is then to open up and receive from the highest level one can. By doing this, the channel lets divine guidance work through, around and with him/her/them on all the levels that need rebalancing. Healing work can be past and/or this life focused. In the energetic world, nothing’s always linear. In this sense, I find spiritual healing the best way of helping people, earth, animals. It’s only when we truly get out of the Divine’s way that we give everything the space to completely heal.

Again, readings are often healings as well. I find it helps to debrief at the end of energy work. That gives clients the space to ask questions and finish expressing/processing whatever they need to. Information helps us process. It helps the healer and client fully complete the spiritual task. When we work at this level, I find, we as practitioners learn, grow, and help more.

What can you tell me about your energetic mentoring?

Yes, I energetically mentor people for personal and professional reasons. “Energetic mentoring” is the same as “spiritual”, “personal” and “intuitive development”. That doesn’t mean there’s only one way to approach these things. It just reflects how, in choosing to become more aware, there is no part of self that’s excluded from that growth. I energetically mentor people who need to make sense of what they experience energetically/intuitively as well as people who “just” want to develop because they’re being called or because they’re just curious.

Energetic mentoring, I find, isn’t mono. Every person needs slightly different help. We’re all intuitive but that doesn’t mean that our intuitive journeys begin in the same way or require the same sort of help. I offer set courses for those who want to learn about their intuition as a range of skills. Just because a person wants to learn to read, for example, doesn’t mean s/he/they won’t ever bump into a spirit. In my opinion, as a spiritual mentor, it’s important to guide students well in these things. This means teaching them how to work with energy however it presents. Sometimes, mentors can focus too narrowly in a way that sets students up for unnecessary challenge/distress.

I also offer customised programs that focus in on where the student is at week by week. Here, we still develop energetic and intuitive skills but from a more personalised angle. Some people need this more than a set program because they really need to make sense of things now. Invariably, the customised course shares a lot of the set program, because everything starts on the energetic level. I mentor at beginner, advanced, and professional levels depending on the student’s experience. All of my mentoring is practical in nature. We’re here to be intuitive and physically achieving beings.

Energetic mentoring can be done face-to-face, online, or over the phone. All formats are just as effective. In some ways, remote work can be more powerful. It’s important to equip students with an awareness of how the world of energy works, what it can contain and how to intuit with discernment. “Invisible” and “intuitive” don’t automatically mean “spiritual guidance”. Learning to intuit with discernment doesn’t come long and can be great fun. This is an important part of developing. It sets students up to walk their path truer to/as self. Sometimes, we’re encouraged to over-connect to guides and/or spirit. Those levels can offer amazing help but they’re not the highest. When we over-rely on anything as habit, we can end up being too influenced by it. The Divine is real and the more we understand that It’s willing to guide, heal, and help, the better we channel truly spiritual energies. As a mentor, I find this an important part of growth. It helps students receive and work with the right guidance through time. In one sense, it’s the most important job of an energetic/intuitive mentor.

You also offer numerology services. Can you share a few details about that part of your work?

As intuits, we each have a choice as to how we work. Some people use tarot; others use runes; others use objects, including photos. In the strictest sense, there’s no need for any tool yet each of them can assist. For me, numerology helps as a tarot deck might for another reader. Numbers, read at a spiritual level, explain a lot about what’s happening – not only in physical life but also energetically.

Working at this level, numbers provide a tangible frame/explanation for what is happening in, for or around a person. I will often take the date of birth when I read because it can explain a lot about a client’s life (past, future or current). Merged with guidance, numerology often helps clients understand what is going on and why. Just like tarot, numerology can act as a trigger for wholistic, helpful, spiritual messages.

I can also develop numerological charts for clients, for personal use or as gifts. This involves taking their birth date and full birth name. Every letter of the alphabet corresponds to one of the numbers, 1 to 9. From this, I look at the whole of life path as well as the personal year. As with readings, this can help to place why a life flows as it does; why the client experiences energy as s/he/they do; and whether what they sense is theirs. Spiritual numerology helps people confirm their positions; honour their boundaries; and accept their intuition, when fed by universal wisdom, as something they can rely upon. Numbers help explain a whole lot of things – even more when they’re combined with spiritual guidance.

What other services do you offer?

I help people with anything to do with the invisible world. That can involve everyday subjects like relationships and career; it can also mean exploring a client’s intuitive, spiritual, and/or energetic life. As stated earlier, “energetic” equals “intuitive” equals “spiritual” when embraced the right way. All of these levels affect physical/real-world life. I can focus in on past, present, or future, including past lives. I never try to fit a client into a process. I ask them how I can help and things take off from there. I work with spirit as clients want but don’t communicate with that level alone. My strength, in a sense, is to tune into invisible currents to make sense of what is happening in real-world terms. This helps clients understand, process, heal, and work through all sorts of things. It can involve exploring what other people are thinking and feeling, or focus upon the client alone. No session is ever without info nor is any session not healing as well. My aim, in all I do, is to address as much as I can in one session so that clients don’t have to return. Spiritually, that is so important. We all need to release on a regular basis to help life continue to unfold well.

Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?

There’s so much to cover in the questions above. I am grateful for the chance to contribute to MysticMag’s blog. I suppose my final offering would be to trust. We are always guided even if it doesn’t feel like that. Source never abandons; it only steps back to help a person stretch their awareness. Easy to claim yet all a person needs to remember is that the universe is real. Use out-breath through mouth; let go of all you grip or is gripping; make room for the Divine to guide and heal. Just doing this can bring relief, movement, and messages.
