Your music spans across various genres such as world, meditative, ambient, Celtic, Native American traditions, and Americana. How do you approach blending these diverse influences into your compositions?
Hi Mystic Magazine, thank you for this sweet opportunity to share a bit about my music!
I’ve studied a wide variety of musical genres and styles, many of which have been inspirational to the music I write. Although the genres sound different, I can use a similar rhythm and/or chord changes, and make them flow easily into a whole other universe of music.
Your music is often described as healing and soothing. Can you share how your personal experiences, particularly overcoming heart health complications, have influenced the healing aspect of your compositions?
I remember at a very young age, when I held a guitar close to me and played the most beautiful chords I could think of, the vibration of the strings and instrument created an energy in my body which was very comforting and healing, and still is to this day.
With over 30 major surgeries since childhood, you’ve undoubtedly faced immense challenges. How has music played a role in your healing process, both physically and emotionally?
Energy and vibration are very key to healing, and I would turn to my guitar, flute, piano, drums, and other instruments to create the energy vibration that my body needed at the time to help it release and heal.
New Age music often focuses on creating tranquil and serene atmospheres. How do you go about capturing and conveying emotions and moods through your music?
I play around with chords and sounds, and when I feel it all deeply, I know I’ve got something good here, which is why I always keep a box of tissues nearby!
Your work has garnered worldwide acclaim. How do you think your music resonates with audiences across different cultures and backgrounds?
Audiences from all over the world have been incredibly kind, loving and open about how the music affects them in the most beautiful, healing and powerful ways. I write music from a place of love and that energy carries through from me, to all who listen. I remember the first time I went to a museum and I sensed the energy of each artist in their paintings, I could literally feel their essence captured in their work. I believe artists of any genre leave a trace of themselves in their work, which is what makes art all the more powerful.
Your music often evokes a sense of spirituality and connection with nature. Can you elaborate on how these themes inspire your creative process and the messages you aim to convey through your compositions?
Nature is my greatest inspiration. The Earth lives and breathes, and when I write poetry or music, I feel the breath of life moving beneath and around me. Many of the music genres from around the world are inspired by nature and the breath of Earth, even if some don’t realize it. In a store for instance, with the music playing, you will see people walking to the same rhythm. My wish is for all of us to live and flow to the same rhythm as the Earth, which is getting us back to love. May the music I write contribute to that.
