Cynthia, how did your journey into Mediumship and the psychic realm first materialize?
I was always very aware of spirits, even as a little girl. There was an older gentleman in spirit who was always with me. It didn’t matter whether I was awake or asleep. He was always there to comfort me. I never thought of him as dead because he was always with me, a loving, protective grandfather figure.
When I was around 4, I would have dreams, wake up, only to find I was writing furiously on my comforter. However, in my dream I was writing in a notebook.
My mum was a Catholic and she was a reader. I used to tell her things that I had experienced or dreamed about. She would listen, be a little surprised and sometimes shocked about the things I told her. Then, when I entered kindergarten, she told me not to mention these kind of things at school.
When I was about 14, I had an intuitive astrologer read my chart. He told me that he knew that I was having these dreams and that he was aware of my hidden psychic and mediumistic abilities. I told him that one day I could help people like my mum did. He threw a deck of cards at me and told me to read them.
He only gave me a basic layout of the cards, and to my surprise I read them. He then told me not to read any books, to close my eyes and just talk. Although I didn’t know it at the time, I was already channeling.
My mum died when I was 20, but before she passed, she was in a state of in-between as she was in a coma. She told me that it was her time to go, and after she died she would come and communicate with me. This was very different from communicating with my grandfather.
My father was also naturally intuitive and so, using my abilities was just a normal part of my life to me.
I was 30 when a man in a coffee shop showed me a picture of his two sons. I described their personality traits, even though I didn’t know them from a bar of soap. He found this to be incredible. It really progressed very naturally from there and it’s still an ongoing process.
I realized that something that had been ‘normal’ my whole life was not everybody else’s normal.
What exactly is a Soul-to-Soul reading and what can one expect from a session?
A Soul-to-Soul session is one where I am reading the field that the client is connecting with on different levels. The client gives me permission to connect soul to soul. My aim is to not only show them what I see in their field, but also what is highlighted from their past soul encounters relative to where they are now and where they want to go.
I consider it a sacred experience that is meant to empower the person in the way it is needed at that time. I help them connect their awareness to their different levels of their being. Essentially, I focus on reading for the highest good to come through to support them – it is a form of channeling.
Does the Soul-to-Soul reading differ from a Soul Path Astrology reading or are the two interlaced?
They can be interlaced when people want me to work this way.
My natural way is to intuitively tune into the client soul to soul and then look at their chart. After that I take a closer look.
That said, people book astrology sessions for different reasons. They book them to address spiritual aspects of their lives, as well as real down-to-earth matters. I am happy to work with specific questions or give my clients just an overview, spiritually or otherwise.
What has been the most incredible or memorable experience in your professional life?
There have been so many. It is difficult to choose. I’d say that it is my very next experience.
One story comes to mind. One time, a lady in spirit came through to me and, as I started to connect with her, she took me to her heaven, as opposed to telling me about her earth life. We were in a beautiful place, with tall trees and wildflowers. What transpired was that her earth life had been very traumatic. She had been in an abusive marriage and her way out of it had been hours and hours of meditation. She was now like a fairy, so light and happy, since she had received what she had always wanted on the earthly plane in her heaven. From the first moment of contact she kept saying “I’ve arrived” with such joy and excitement. I was moved in so many ways from this encounter.
Do you believe Mediumship offers a sense of reassurance for the ‘unknown’ and a glimpse of our ultimate destiny?
It really depends on what the client allows in. The person receiving the reading is the one in charge of their spiritual growth. For some people a session can be illuminating just to hear the evidence that it is their loved one communicating. Other people begin to understand they are spiritual beings on a whole new level. I think it can and does allow people to see that we are a continued consciousness; that we are here in this physical body having a spiritual existence.
The Spirit realm is, as my great-grandmother used to say, just a doorway to something even greater. Many people share that they receive peace of mind. We connect with every living being, human or animal when we die.
So yes, it does, but we have to be willing to contemplate that this isn’t all there is.
