Learning and Healing with Shamanism - Céline Roche

Learning and Healing with Shamanism - Céline Roche

Céline Roche, a soul hailing from Provence with a deep love for scents and perfumes, thrived in New York’s aromatic realm for twenty-three years. A transformative revelation in 2021 guided her onto a new path aligned with her heart’s calling. Guided by Urban Shaman Marilyn Graman and fueled by encounters with extraordinary individuals, Céline has delved into shamanism for over fifteen years. She invites others to join her on a transformative journey, exploring altered states of consciousness and connecting with power animals and spiritual guides. MysticMag has the opportunity to find out more.

Céline, what drew you to shamanism and its practice, and how has your background in various teachings and experiences shaped your approach to healing and counseling?

I lived in the US for 20 years, and during that time, I experienced a profound skydiving accident that had a lasting impact on me. The accident gave me a sense of living in two times simultaneously, a unique and intense experience. Despite the pain, the incident opened my mind to centeredness, calmness, and conscious breathing. While recovering over the course of a year, I felt a deep calling to do something transformative for myself and the world. This led me to embark on a five-year self-discovery program, where I also coached others. Subsequently, I connected with a teacher with whom I engaged in therapeutic retreats, delving into shamanism for the past 15 years. The practice resonated with me, providing insights into my childhood, my relationship with nature, and my early experiences exploring the woods alone. It was a powerful journey of self-love and reconnection with my roots, shedding light on the intricate aspects of human experience.

Could you share a transformative experience from your healing sessions or events that significantly impacted a client’s life, illustrating the depth and effectiveness of shamanic healing?

The healing process varies depending on the client’s specific needs and openness to receive healing. Clients often come with specific requests or ailments, and their receptiveness plays a crucial role. The collaboration between the client and the spirit world requires the client’s heart to be open to the process. Spirit world interventions can lead to noticeable changes, such as the alleviation of recurring pain or shifts in perception. In longer-term programs, combining mindfulness and personal development tools with shamanism accelerates transformation significantly. The connection to spirit enhances clients’ awareness, fostering healing in various aspects of their lives. The cooperative effort involves the client actively participating in their own healing journey, leading to profound and often surprising results. Regular check-ins and follow-ups ensure clients are aligned with the process, contributing to the reciprocity essential for the effectiveness of the spiritual work.

How do you perceive the role of shamanism in today’s world, especially in addressing the challenges people face in modern society?

Shamanism, with its ancient roots spanning thousands of years, holds a profound place in human history, woven into various cultures across the globe. The journey into shamanism, for me, is marked by curiosity and a thirst for understanding our collective story and my personal roots. Exploring this path took me to Mongolia, where I learned from Mongolian shamans, fostering a connection to my own lineage—tracing back to the Celts, Scots, and Irish. This exploration has instilled in me a deep sense of compassion for my ancestors, acknowledging their diverse life experiences. Shamanism, as a practice, has taught me the importance of sovereignty—encouraging individuals to ask profound life questions and connect with their inner source of wisdom. Through the lens of shamanism, life unfolds with deep insights, contributing to personal balance, mental clarity, and a joyful connection to nature. It provides a unique perspective, grounding individuals amid the cacophony of modern life, fostering a focus on meaningful relationships, personal legacy, and a harmonious existence with the Earth and its inhabitants.

Your healing protocol includes preparatory and follow-up sessions. Could you elaborate on how these sessions complement the main healing process and contribute to a client’s overall experience and progress?

In my practice, I ensure a comprehensive process for individuals seeking healing. It begins with a 30-minute call to understand their needs and determine their openness to the healing process. Prior to and after the healing session, clear guidance is provided on what to do or avoid. After the session, I conduct a follow-up a week later to delve into the changes, shifts, and healing experienced by the individual. This feedback is crucial to understand the impact of the session and any additional work recommended by the spirit world. The continuity of this process is often appreciated by clients, contributing to their ongoing alignment and spiritual growth. The active involvement of clients in post-healing practices serves as a reciprocal exchange, fostering a deeper connection with the spirit world.

What inspired the creation of the Harner Shamanic Counseling™ program, and how does it blend traditional shamanic practices with modern techniques to benefit individuals seeking guidance and transformation?

I’ve undergone training with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies in the US, participating in their five-year program. One distinctive aspect of this program, which I integrate into my own practice, is a five to six-week journey work where clients attend two-hour sessions. In this structured and accessible approach, individuals learn to journey to the lower and upper worlds using the rhythmic sound of a drum. This method is designed to provide a direct and simple experience, making it suitable for those who may approach shamanism with skepticism. Clients lie simply on a yoga mat, and without the use of traditional elements like candles or extensive rituals, they embark on a profound journey of self-discovery to the sound of the drum, often receiving transformative messages and wisdom over the course of the program.
