Embarking on life as an adventure, Brunhild Hofmann of Energy Focus is a person driven by curiosity and a thirst for understanding the essence of life. Starting her exploration in the realms of science, she earned her degree in biochemistry after studying biology. However, it became clear during her college years that life’s true meaning extends beyond the boundaries of science. Her subsequent studies in German and sports opened new doors, leading her to the world of spirit and the body’s experiences. Drawing from her background in natural sciences, humanities, and the physical body, she has embraced a coaching role over the past 20 years. PSYCH-K® entered her life in 2005, aligning all the puzzle pieces, revealing the profound influence of the mind on genes. As a PSYCH-K® trainer since 2007, she finds joy in the dynamic and transformative flow it brings to her life. MysticMag has the pleasure of chatting with Brunhild.
Brunhild, your background spans biology, sports science, and psychology. How did these diverse disciplines influence your approach to coaching and how you merge natural science, spiritual science, and physical awareness in your work with clients?
Firstly, I want to highlight that my academic background is not in psychology but rather in biology and sports, with a dash of German language studies. This distinction is crucial because, in my work, we extensively utilize phrases that conclude with words. I firmly believe in the power of words, recognizing that they carry their own energy. Drawing from my biology background, I understand the importance of feeling the words in my body when expressing them. Initially, my journey in biology began with the genuine intention of comprehending the intricacies of life. However, over time, I became somewhat disillusioned because I couldn’t find the miracle and wonder of life. My studies eventually led me to biochemistry, where, unfortunately, I still couldn’t discover the profound essence of life. In contrast, my venture into sports studies, driven by my love for movement, turned out to be a perfect complement. Today, I acknowledge that having insights from biology, sports, and language studies has been invaluable. It has allowed me to understand that the body serves as a vessel for our dreams, life energy, and even our soul. We must prioritize caring for our bodies as they carry our subconscious minds, which, in turn, control a significant portion of our lives—approximately 95%, to be precise. Establishing a connection with the subconscious mind is paramount. I’ve realized the importance of ensuring that my conscious mind directs my life’s output, rather than letting the subconscious mind take the reins. As a biologist, I am well-versed in the implications of distress on the body, including elevated stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, leading to issues like high blood pressure, a suppressed immune system and suboptimal digestion. Through my experiences, I’ve come to appreciate the profound benefits of maintaining a mostly relaxed state, free from distress, making it much easier to navigate the challenges of life.
PSYCH-K® seems to be a pivotal method in your coaching practice. Could you elaborate on how this technique specifically impacts individuals’ lives and how it differs from other coaching or therapeutic approaches?
To me, the most significant distinction from other methods lies in the experiential aspect for my clients. Our approach involves muscle testing, wherein the beliefs are tested subconsciously and you get a conscious feedback by experiencing the strength of your muscles. This means that the test results differ based on whether you only consciously or also subconsciously believe something. For instance, when testing a situation, liking or disliking it can significantly impact your strength. If you imagine or affirm a situation you like, you’ll exhibit much more strength in your muscles compared to a situation you don’t favor. This ability to pre-test and post-test the impact after applying PSYCH-K®, through balancing and muscle testing, allows you to physically experience the difference in strength or perception. This, for me, is a pivotal aspect. Additionally, our method incorporates a spiritual dimension, as we always ask for permission from the Superconscious mind, which you could liken to a higher power, divine order, or the greater picture. PSYCH-K® is a spiritual method, and we invite the Superconscious mind to guide and permit the process. If the Superconscious mind doesn’t grant permission, we respect that and may consider an alternative direction that aligns with what is prioritized in the moment.
You mention the transformative power of beliefs and their impact on our physiology and emotions. How do you guide individuals in identifying and reshaping these subconscious beliefs to foster positive changes in their lives?
Typically, people tend to focus on what they don’t want during sessions, and one of our guiding principles is that energy follows attention. Constantly talking about what one doesn’t want directs energy towards those undesired aspects. To shift this, I often pose a simple question after about 10 minutes of discussing what they don’t want: “What do you want instead? What do you want to experience?” Although it might be challenging for some to make this shift initially, those who do often find themselves exploring and experiencing the life they desire. Addressing what they truly want is crucial, and by implementing it subconsciously through PSYCH-K®, the transformation is well worth it. Another key aspect of PSYCH-K® is that after a balance, we discuss action steps. In a recent session with an artist, she expressed her readiness to stand by her artwork. This led to formulating action steps, emphasizing that it’s not just about reinforcing positive or empowering statements but also about implementing them into daily life. Taking the prescribed actions creates a tangible change in brain patterns, providing feedback that makes it progressively easier to act differently. During follow-up sessions, clients are encouraged to share their experiences with the action steps, fostering ongoing growth and transformation.
Stress management is a significant aspect of PSYCH-K®. Can you share practical examples of how this method helps individuals transform past, present, or anticipated stress into relaxation and empowerment?
I specialize mainly in stress management because overcoming stress is vital for living a fulfilling life. When we’re stressed, our full potential is hindered, and it often results from an imbalance in brain activation. So our goal is to have both hemispheres activated. Stress triggers emotional reactions, limiting our ability to think clearly or act with awareness. The ultimate goal in stress management is to enable individuals to simultaneously think and feel, providing a nuanced understanding of their emotions. I often share a personal experience of overcoming jealousy through PSYCH-K®. In the past, I would have reacted dramatically to situations triggering jealousy. However, after learning PSYCH-K®, I faced a similar scenario with composure, realizing I could think about the appropriateness of my emotions. This shift marked a significant change in my life. I encourage clients to transform their perception of stress, enabling them to approach challenging situations with a calm and free mindset. For instance, preparing for a medical examination can induce fear, and by transforming the perception of stress beforehand, individuals can make decisions without the influence of fear, fostering a more empowered and relaxed state of mind.
What’s the most rewarding aspect for you personally when witnessing the transformation of individuals through PSYCH-K®? Could you share a particularly impactful or memorable experience where this technique made a substantial difference in someone’s life?
The most rewarding aspect for me is witnessing the profound transformations that PSYCH-K® brings to people’s lives. My journey into becoming a PSYCH-K® Instructor began with a personal experience—I conducted a balance for my mother, which significantly transformed our relationship. In the two years before her passing, our connection became soft and close, marking a beautiful shift from the challenges she and I had been through throughout my early years, partly due to her harsh experiences in the Second World War.
Another deeply rewarding experience occurred during the passing of my father 1 1/2 years ago. Being prepared by the “Life Bonding Balance” in PSYCH-K®, I could accompany him in his last days, providing comfort as he peacefully passed away in my arms. This was an invaluable gift to me.
Moreover, the feedback I receive from clients about their own positive changes is immensely fulfilling. For instance, I recently received an email from a dentist who attended my PSYCH-K® Basic workshop in 2009. He shared how, since then, he has aligned his practice in a holistic way, fostering a path of connectedness within his family. Such stories reaffirm my commitment to making a difference in the world, promoting peace and connection. It’s moments like these that make the journey with PSYCH-K® truly impactful and meaningful.
