Can you please introduce yourself to our readers and share a few details about your professional journey?
Hello, I’m Brooke McKeever, the founder of UltraRed Light, a health and wellness company specializing in non-medical Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy, more commonly known as red light therapy. My journey into the world of light began by dipping my toes in light therapy as a client in 2000, then again in 2008 after a debilitating car accident led to a cervical spine injury that required surgery that I never got. I was ultimately able to heal myself, avoid surgery, get out of pain, and start my journey as a lightworker. It wasn’t always easy. There was not a red light therapy industry as there is today. People thought I was crazy for saying that light could do all these seemingly miraculous things when really it was just accelerating the natural healing process and providing cellular ATP to do so through mitochondrial activation. I failed many times and kept going.
Now I have a blooming business with my husband Jeff where we see clients and help change people’s lives. Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding and leveraging the power of light and clean healthy living to improve health outcomes. With a background in science, I’ve combined my expertise with cutting-edge technology to create a service that addresses various health issues, from pain relief, gut health, brain health, and immune balance to beauty. UltraRed Light is the culmination of my passion for holistic health and my commitment to providing effective, research-backed therapies to our Southern California community. In addition to providing therapy, I rent and sell the technology by LightMD that we use in our clinic. This allows people from all over the US and internationally to have access to this life changing light.
What is light therapy and how does it work?
Light therapy, known as Photobiomodulation (PBM) in the science community, is a treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular processes. It works by enhancing the function of mitochondria, charging up the powerhouse or battery of cells, which leads to increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the energy currency of cells. This means that cells can now perform their optimum functions. The boost in cellular energy helps reduce inflammation, promote healing, and alleviate pain, thus helping people recover more quickly from injury, illness, and disease. It is non-invasive, fast-acting, and highly effective. There are too many cases to count of unbelievable results as well as the numerous cases with common injuries and ailments like knee pain, back pain, and stress relief. The LightMD Mark II devices we use are designed to deliver these benefits safely and effectively, offering a non-invasive option for those seeking relief from various health conditions. It’s all about energy and using light plus our pulsed frequencies to target specific tissue types with different vibrations and octaves.
You also provide this service for animals. What are some differences between working with people and working with animals and does the therapy have the same effects on both?
Providing PBM therapy for animals is quite similar to treating humans, but there are some key differences. Animals often have a more pronounced response to light therapy due to their higher metabolic rates and different physiological structures. For instance, animals may show quicker improvements in mobility and pain relief. I usually do 20-30 minutes on a dog and 40-60 minutes on horses or humans. The approach is also very different because animals can’t communicate their discomfort or improvements as clearly as humans, so we rely heavily on observation and feedback from their owners and the cues they give us.
The effects of PBM therapy on animals are generally comparable to those in humans, including reduced inflammation, accelerated healing, and pain relief. Our experience with animals has shown remarkable results, especially in treating conditions like arthritis, tendon tears, wounds, and post-surgical recovery. It is quite rewarding to help animals and there is no placebo effect for them, so it shows us that even they enjoy the sessions and get extremely relaxed most of the time.
What is the Infrared Sauna experience like?
SWEATY but good! The Infrared Sauna experience at UltraRed Light is designed to be both relaxing, detoxifying, and therapeutic. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air around you, infrared saunas use infrared panels to directly heat your body. This method allows for deeper tissue penetration, promoting detoxification, improved circulation, and muscle relaxation.
The temperature is controllable but most people (including us McKeevers) crank it up to high and get a super good sweat on, which helps warm up muscles for a stretch and that helps to relieve stress and tension. The sessions typically last between 20 to 45 minutes, or however long one can last. It works great after a PBM session that accelerates the lymph system and metabolism, allowing for a greater experience in the sauna.
What is the Mark II system and what can you tell me about the work you do through LightMD?
The Mark II system by LightMD is a state-of-the-art medical-grade PBM device that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to deliver therapeutic benefits. This system is designed to provide targeted treatment for a variety of health issues, including pain, inflammation, and wound healing. At UltraRed Light, we exclusively use the Mark II system to offer our clients a non-invasive, effective therapy option.
Additionally, we provide sales, training, and support for the Mark II system device owners, ensuring that other practitioners can leverage this advanced technology in their practices, business ventures, or at home. Our work with LightMD involves continuous research and protocol development to ensure that we provide the most advanced and effective light therapy solutions. The Mark II system leverages technology for better health outcomes for acute, chronic, and preventative care, and we are proud to offer this cutting-edge medical technology to our clients.
Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?
I’d like to emphasize the quantum and energetic nature of our services at UltraRed Light. We can use our light to move trapped energy, move stagnation, tap into energy meridians or centers, and utilize the 3rd eye by decalcifying and energizing it. Beyond PBM therapy and infrared sauna sessions, we are dedicated to educating our clients about the benefits of natural healing and health-conscious living. We play solfeggio frequencies and diffuse essential oils, have crystals nearby or available for use, all customized for our clients. We offer personalized and comprehensive treatment plans and support our clients in their journey towards better health and achieving their wellness goals.
Our approach is holistic, focusing not just on symptom relief but on overall well-being. We are passionate about making a positive impact on our clients’ lives, and we continuously strive to be at the forefront of innovation in the light therapy field. The LightMD Mark II technology is unparalleled in the market. We have published research with our device as well as current ongoing IRBs. I love engaging with interested folks on social media or via email. I also teach courses on light therapy through my company, Light Academy. Budding entrepreneurs, therapists, doctors, and health enthusiasts can integrate this system into your businesses. I’d be honored to light the way.
