Ayrshire Healing Centre has quickly gained recognition since its opening in 2020, winning many awards. What do you think sets your center apart in the holistic wellness community, and how has the local response shaped your journey so far?

We are the only multidisciplinary healing centre running with the unique format we have created. We are a hybrid business, with a minimum of 25% of our time, often more, being set aside for the running of our not for profit arm, Community Wellbeing Hub CIC. The Hub offers free and low cost programmes of holistic therapies for adults, teenagers and families in the local area, and takes referrals direct from the NHS which is groundbreaking and pioneers integrated health in Scotland. Alongside private therapies and the Hub, we have a fully accredited training academy which attracts students from all over the UK. Many of our students have gone on to operate successful businesses of their own and even set up new charities. We are members of our local chamber of commerce, and have networked extensively with local companies and local authorities. These platforms enable us to assist workplaces in approaching their staff wellbeing in a very positive manner, bringing entire teams in for wellbeing days to reduce staff absence.

The local response to the centre has been phenomenal. We have a large number of regular clients on both the private and the Hub side, many of whom now volunteer with us regularly having seen their own lives turn around after attending the centre. One of our former Hub clients has even joined our therapist team. People bring their entire families for classes, workshops, events and treatments, and the local GP surgeries are constantly asking for new referrals as they have seen so many clients with long term conditions reduce or come off their medication after treatments here. We are just about to start a regular wellbeing drop-in morning every week which is in response to demand from local people to have a regular meeting place where they can work on their wellbeing.  One particular highlight for us was hosting our first wedding in February. The couple had been attending the centre for over a year and it became such a special place to them they asked us if they could tie the knot in the studio, complete with Rolls Royce, bagpipers and live singers! We describe the centre as a place for everyone and everyone seems to love it.

Your center combines a magic shop, treatment rooms, and a tea area with a meditation studio. How do you envision these different elements working together to create a holistic experience for your clients?

Our clients are looking for a wide range of experiences and we aim to offer them as much variety as possible to cover every stage of their journey. Having a social area for tea allows them to get to know us better, relax and also gain peer support from others going through a similar type of medical or spiritual pathway. The shop is a great talking point for people, allowing them the space to spend some time here chatting and learning about crystals, books, clearing, and aromatherapy. We have our own range of high grade essential oils that can be purchased for home use with a free consultation with a qualified aromatherapist and this is a popular experience for people looking to promote their healing between therapy sessions. Having the treatment rooms alongside the tea area and shop allows scope for group visits or for couples and families to attend together with multiple therapists and a safe space to relax before and after their treatments. Our 300 year old meditation studio, complete with log burner, is very atmospheric and welcoming and many of our groups and classes run from there, with the social space opened afterwards for tea and chat, meaning everyone has a chance to ask questions, get support and take home any items they would like to enhance their healing at home.

What type of services do you offer?

We offer everything from clinical aromatherapy massage and reflexology to energy treatments – Reiki, biofield clearing, shamanic healing, past life regression and spiritual channeling to name but a few. We also offer workshops and classes in sound healing, meditation, shamanic practice, spiritual development, drumming, therapeutic art and aromatherapy. Our training academy offers fully certified practitioner training in all of our disciplines. We have some amazing external therapists who run regular or one-off workshops from the centre including Wim-Hof breathwork, reggae yoga, and gut health. Our not for profit side offers free or heavily subsidized blocks of holistic therapies to those with long term physical or emotional health conditions and we work closely with the NHS and other agencies. We will be launching a new platform in 2025 with digital learning and interactive classes to enable more people to engage with us if they are physically unable to get here.

Among the courses you offer, such as Reiki, Reflexology, and Sound Healing, which do you find resonates most with your students and clients, and why do you think that is?

Our most popular courses are always sound healing and Reiki. The reason these courses in particular resonate with our students is that they have often had a personal experience of the therapy here, either in a treatment session or a sound healing class, and they want to be able to do it themselves, and bring the effects to others whether that be in a work or personal setting. People are looking for new ways to increase their wellbeing and change their lives, and they love the small group, hands-on training that we pride ourselves on. Everyone always leaves as firm friends and many collaborations have taken place between past students in their new businesses.

What role do you see practices like ‘Working with Angels’ playing in the broader spectrum of holistic healing, and how do you introduce clients and students to these more spiritually-focused approaches?

The world is changing and many people are now looking for a stronger connection to something that extends beyond the physical in their day to day lives. Just this week there was a report in the press about the NHS taking a more spiritually supportive stance within the healthcare system. We often hear people say that they feel they have an angel or a guide looking out for them but are afraid to speak out about it within their usual circles. We find they really open up to us during treatments and classes and we can offer them a safe space to explore this, as well as peer support from the others in our centre family who are having similar experiences. We both work with angels and guides regularly in our practice so people who haven’t explored this are often very curious and they find that attending groups such as our shamanic and spiritual development circles enables them to form stronger connections, which they really seem to benefit from on a spiritual level and as part of their personal healing journey. Mostly, we just stay true to ourselves and people feel the energy and want to keep that vibe with them after they leave.

How do you maintain the balance between running a successful business and staying true to the spiritual and healing practices that are at the heart of the Ayrshire Healing Centre?

Staying true to our spiritual and healing practices always takes priority. We keep the team here very small and everyone who works with us is hand-picked for their alignment with our core values alongside their skills on a therapeutic level. Although you do have to be somewhat practical in business, we will never undermine our values or dilute our passion for profit. We have a strong belief that the universe will always provide and we remain true to that.
