In a world where high-achieving professionals often feel the pressure to excel without compromising their well-being, Anjli Garg stands as a beacon of guidance. With over two decades of experience as a top corporate lawyer and a seasoned Executive Coach, Anjli combines her sharp legal expertise with a deep understanding of leadership, mindset, and personal growth. As the founder of YOUR COACH TO SOAR LLC, she specializes in helping individuals navigate their careers while cultivating a harmonious balance between success and personal fulfillment. A mom, a woman of color, and an immigrant, Anjli’s unique journey has shaped her holistic approach to coaching, guiding clients through professional challenges and personal transformations. In this Mystic Mag‘s interview, Anjli shares her path to becoming a coach, her insights on leadership, and how integrating intellect, creativity, and higher intelligence has opened new doors for both her and her clients.

You’ve transitioned from being a high-performing corporate lawyer to a professional coach specializing in mindset, leadership, and wellbeing. What inspired you to make this shift, and how has your background influenced your approach to coaching?

As I reflect on my journey, I realize that one of the things I’ve always done—both consciously and unconsciously—is take the road less traveled.  I’m an immigrant to this country and the first in my family to become a lawyer. I have truly loved being a lawyer – I’ve gained experiences that I wouldn’t trade for the world and it’s given me the opportunity to work with amazing people. I’ve learned a lot, and the skills I’ve developed as a lawyer translate well into coaching.

Why coaching? It was something I didn’t even know existed until a few years ago, but when I discovered it, everything just clicked. It felt deeply right for me. The skills and experiences I’ve accumulated resonate with coaching’s focus on fulfillment, impact, and service to others. That’s really what I’m drawn to. If I were to describe what I love most about coaching, it’s that it’s geared toward helping others rise. My business is called “Your Coach To Soar,” which reflects both my years of self-development work and how crucial my relationship with myself has been in achieving my goals and happiness.

I see this path as a way to support others in connecting with themselves and getting clear on what they truly want. Life is precious, and so is time, so being intentional about how you live is essential. When you work with a coach, you gain a partner to help you get crystal clear on where you want to go and why, and how to get there.

I’m also an energy healer, which came into my life even before coaching. Originally, I explored energy healing for my own self-development. I’ve always thought of myself as very left-brained—analytical and logical—so I never expected to venture into energy healing. But it happened naturally, as I started exploring new possibilities. Becoming a healer was something I did for myself, because, in the corporate world, topics like energy healing aren’t taken seriously. But I discovered a different way to achieve growth, one where you can make quantum shifts without grinding through each step. You still have to do the work, but it’s so different—you can skip several steps and reach your destination more quickly. And who doesn’t want that?

It’s encouraging to see that these approaches are becoming more accepted, thanks to leaders like Joe Dispenza and Wayne Dyer, who have brought these principles to the mainstream. Their work shows people new ways to overcome life’s challenges and achieve success.

Many of your clients describe you as calm, balanced, and empathetic. How do you cultivate these qualities in yourself, and how do they benefit the leaders and professionals you work with?

When it comes to cultivating these qualities, it has truly been a journey of working on myself. One of my guiding principles is “leadership from within”—you can’t lead others until you can lead yourself. Much of this journey has involved yoga, meditation, self-development, and a lot of personal healing and self-discovery. It’s been about reconnecting with myself. For much of my life, I lived in my head—very logical, relying on my brain, or what I like to call my “processor”—as if all the answers lay there in my prefrontal cortex. But I’ve come to learn that there’s so much more within myself to draw from. There’s my body, my intuition, and an inner knowing that extends beyond what my mind or body alone can tell me. Tapping into this deeper knowing and embracing it has been truly transformative for me.

Empathy has also been a journey for me. Like so many, I’ve had a life filled with changes and challenges I never anticipated. These experiences have given me a unique perspective on how we carry our past with us. I’ve come to understand that people’s behavior often has deeper reasons behind it, even if we don’t agree with their actions or accept how they make us feel. This perspective has helped me let go of judgment. Instead of asking “Why would someone do this?” in a judgmental way, I approach it with curiosity. That doesn’t mean tolerating harmful behavior or excusing mistreatment, but it shifts my perspective from judgment to understanding.

As for how this benefits others, my clients often tell me they feel grounded in my presence. They feel calm, and in that calmness, they’re able to open up to possibilities beyond survival or fight-or-flight mode. They can expand into new potential without the stress that typically holds them back.

Additionally, empathy helps create a judgment-free, safe space where they can open up and be vulnerable. Real growth and transformation require the courage to confront difficult truths, and having someone there to create a safe, supportive environment is invaluable. It’s not about being a crutch, but about providing a supportive space that allows them to show up as their true selves. In this space, they can explore areas they may not have felt safe to explore alone, knowing they have someone to witness and guide them without judgment. This support makes it easier to unpack difficult thoughts and feelings without the fear of being wrong for doing so.

What type of services do you offer?

I offer one-on-one coaching, as well as workshops, which are designed to help people gain clarity, confidence and balance. If someone is feeling stuck, we explore what’s holding them back, why they feel this way, and what they truly want in their life. Part of my approach involves tactical, strategic work—this is where my analytical side comes in. Another part focuses on mindset and seeing things from a new perspective, which taps into my creativity and intuition. I also work to dissolve the blocks that may be holding clients back, drawing from energy work and somatic practices. By “body work,” I don’t mean physical work but rather somatic methods that involve connecting with the body on a deeper level.

There are many different paths we can take to help you reach your goals, including energy healing if that’s something you’re open to. I also lead workshops for clients on leadership and well-being, helping them find ways to reduce friction in their lives so they can perform at their best without having to work harder. In essence, I help people reduce friction in their lives, gain clarity on what they want, and cultivate the energy to achieve it.

You are also an energy healer, meditator, and artist. How do these practices intersect with your coaching work, and what role does creative expression play in helping your clients unlock their potential?

I’d say the biggest thing I notice is that many of my clients are highly analytical. They’ll take a problem and run it over and over in their minds, but they always end up reaching the same conclusion. What I help them do is shift their perspective just a bit to see things differently. This is where the creative, right-brain aspect comes in. For example, if you analyze a banana analytically, you might note that it’s yellow, has brown spots, is white inside, starchy, and has a gooey texture when you chew it. But if you approach it from a different angle, you might ask, “How does it make me feel? What does it do for me? Does it bring me joy, or does it not?” It’s the same object but viewed from a new perspective. Neither view is necessarily better, but isn’t it be beneficial to have both?

That’s how this approach can help—by broadening the way we view things, we gain more information to make decisions, whether about a banana or a life choice. This perspective is something I love to share, and it’s about tuning into the flow of energy and going with it.

Reducing friction in life is also essential to this process. Many high-achieving clients work so hard that all the friction grinds the joy out of their lives. They often worry that if they let go of the “hard,” they’ll lose their success. But here’s the truth: you can release the struggle and actually increase your success tenfold by tapping into the flow and energy of ease. That’s why my business is called “Your Coach To Soar.” Think of a bird soaring—it’s using the wind to carry it, with minimal effort. It’s not flapping its wings constantly; it’s gliding. The bird can still course-correct, but it’s being carried by the air.

This is what I want for my clients—a sense of ease and flow in reaching their goals, without feeling the need to make drastic changes in their lives. They can experience success with less friction, more joy, and a deeper connection to the natural flow of life.

For high-achieving clients who often “live in their heads,” how do you encourage them to connect with their intuition and higher intelligence to reach a deeper sense of fulfillment?

Most people, when they’re primarily living in their heads, become disconnected from the rest of themselves. So the “real estate” they occupy is really just this small space in the head. What I help them do, with their permission, is connect with more parts of themselves, including their bodies. Many of my clients tell me they often don’t even know what they want. And I don’t just mean the big picture—like, “What do I want out of life?”—but even simpler things, like “What do I want to do today?” or “What do I want to eat?” They have no idea. This might sound surprising, but it’s not unusual.

When we start disconnecting from our bodies, our desires, and our wants, we end up focusing almost entirely on the external world and what others need and want. People get so skilled at tuning into others’ needs that they begin tuning out from themselves. So, part of this work is helping people reconnect with themselves—understanding what gives them pleasure, what brings them joy, what causes them grief.

This process involves connecting back with their bodies and bringing their energy into their bodies. It doesn’t mean ignoring the head; they’re already experts there. Instead, it’s about integrating the head, the body, and inner knowing. Through somatic exercises and energy work, I guide them to start exercising parts of themselves beyond just their minds.

Sometimes, it can be as simple as tuning into the sensations in their bodies. When we begin, it’s often such an unused muscle that they’ll start reverting to thoughts. I might gently remind them to leave the headspace and tune back into their body. “Tell me what you’re feeling in your body. What are the sensations? Where are you feeling it? What’s the emotion?”

Even identifying the specific emotion can be clarifying. For instance, instead of just saying, “I’m upset,” they might explore, “Am I angry, resentful, grieving, or feeling helpless?” Or if they say, “I’m happy,” we might delve into what that happiness feels like: Is it contentment? Is it a sense of well-being in their body? This is about tuning into each of these sensations and emotions, and starting to exercise that awareness.

For my more analytical clients, I explain it as having untapped data waiting to offer insights. If information is king, then they have an entire body of information within them just waiting to provide them valuable knowledge about themselves and how to soar into their genius.
