LIFE. STYLED. - Alejandra Brady’s Path to Harmonious Living

In the latest MysticMag interview, we sit down with Alejandra Brady, a Feng Shui expert whose journey into this ancient practice began unexpectedly and transformed both her personal and professional life. Discover how Alejandra integrates Feng Shui principles into her interior design practice, helping clients create balanced and harmonious homes, and learn about her book “I Just Can’t Make This Sh!t Up,” which chronicles her spiritual awakening.

What is your personal story and how did you get into Feng Shui?

I got into Feng Shui quite accidentally, although looking back now, I know Feng Shui came into my life so that I would be able to use it to help my clients create beautiful homes that are balanced and harmonious. I was getting myself and my home ready to have very unexpected cervical fusion, when a client of mine, who was much more into energy than I was at the time, told me she hired a Feng Shui expert. She said the expert would not charge travel time if I also scheduled a consultation.

Something inside me told me to say yes. The consultant came to my home and I implemented her suggestions for our primary bedroom before I went into surgery. The shift in our home’s energy was so dramatic, I knew I wanted to keep going. I set about doing all the things she suggested we do as soon as I was recovered enough to do so.

The overall shift in our home and in my husband’s and my relationship was incredible. I knew I had to add this modality to my Interior Design Practice. I reached out to her and asked if she would take me on as a student. I shut down my business and studied full-time under her until I received my certification.

What are some of the main principles of Feng Shui you base your work on?

Feng Shui is a very layered practice, but the goal is always to create spaces that are energetically aligned so that opportunities can present themselves to you. For example, if a client tells me they are “stuck” in a job they are unhappy with, I will begin my consultation by looking at their front entry and their main door. I will check to see if the hardware is sticking, if the door is working correctly, can the house be seen from the street, can the door be opened fully or is there a stack of shoes behind it. All of these things can be linked to the feeling of being “stuck.”

This is a very simplified example, but it shows you how your home can have a direct impact on your life. I am trained to listen very carefully to the words you are using to describe your life and your situation to me, and then I look at the areas of your home that are linked to what you are saying to me.

What can people expect from a consultation with you?

When I do a consultation, whether in person or remotely, I begin by having a conversation with my client and listening to what they are saying. This is the most important part of the consultation for me because every client is different and every situation is different.

Then, I will ask my client to list 3 things they would like to improve/change/wish for in their lives. We discuss that in comparison to what they are telling me is going on currently and see how the two connect.

Only after that will I “walk” around – whether in person or Zoom and see what the house or office is saying to me. At that point, I will make suggestions, the client will take notes and the consultation will conclude.

For a full consultation, the client has access to me for an hour of follow-up, as they move forward making the adjustments discussed. I always encourage my clients to make adjustments slowly and take notes on what they have done, what day they did it, and what the intention of doing the work was.

I love to look back on my notebooks and see how much has changed since I began implementing Feng Shui into our lives.

You are also the author of the book “I Just Can’t Make This Sh!t Up” which was a major success. What is it about and why would you recommend it to our readers?

Yes, I am a best-selling author now! It’s amazing. I never set out to write a book and to have a book that is not only a best-seller, but to date has also won three awards is absolutely incredible to me. I know it would have never happened without Feng Shui. I energetically aligned my home and the opportunities began coming to me.

My book, “I Just Can’t Make this Sh!t Up” is a labor of love. It is about my spiritual awakening and journey, which started by me saying yes to the Feng Shui consultation. I wrote it so that others who are going through their journeys will know that they are not alone. It has not always been an easy path, but I feel I am doing what I was put on this planet at this time to do. I am so grateful for the opportunity to help change people’s lives through their environment.

Is there anything else about your work that you’d like to share that we haven’t covered?

I also created the only Feng Shui Oracle card deck, called “What Should I Feng Shui Today?” I wanted people who could not afford to work with me 1:1 to have a resource where they could be their own consultant, per se.

The deck has 77 cards, and by the time you go through all of them, you will have touched every area of your home.
