Harmonizing Healing: Githa Ben-David on the Transformative Power of Sound

Harmonizing Healing: Githa Ben-David on the Transformative Power of Sound

Githa Ben-David’s journey into the healing power of sound began unexpectedly during her time studying classical saxophone, leading her to India where she discovered the deep connection between sound and authenticity.

In an interview with MysticMag, she shares how she developed a unique vocal sound healing method that helps individuals transcend past traumas and blockages by aligning with their true selves. Her approach has resulted in remarkable transformations, including the disappearance of tumors and restored hearing.

Through her work, Githa has come to believe that sound has the potential to heal when it resonates with the body’s energy, offering a path to wellness for those open to its miraculous power.

What led you to explore the healing power of sound?

It all started when I was studying classical saxophone. I had a high degree in music and applied for funding to travel. Honestly, I didn’t expect to receive it, but I did—and that allowed me to go to India to study a form of music I didn’t fully understand at the time.

In India, I learned the importance of authenticity in sound. When you start listening for authenticity within yourself, something shifts. You begin to ask: What do I like? Do I like my own voice? Many people don’t. But when you truly listen, you can tune into something deeper—almost like a higher connection.

My teacher instructed me to sing one note for an hour each day. At first, it felt incredibly boring. I was used to playing fast and competing in the conservatory. But then—boom—I had a breakthrough. I experienced multiple tones within that single note. Over time, I understood it as a kind of column of light. I couldn’t stop; I just wanted to keep singing that one note.

That was the beginning of my own healing journey, and it has continued to evolve over the past 38 years. Initially, I wanted to be a musician, to create and build a career. But this path—exploring the healing power of sound—kept calling me, and I’ve followed it ever since.

How does your vocal sound healing method work?

The way it works is like this: I discovered that when you enter a state of oneness—meaning you connect to the authentic expression of who you truly are—you transcend the boundaries of past and future. In this oneness, there is no time, and this is where healing can occur. All traumas, emotions, and blockages can be transformed because, in this space, everything is possible.

I began experimenting with sound resonance. For instance, when someone would lie down, I would sing over them to find the right resonance, guided by the overtones. One day, I was singing on someone who had a headache, but it didn’t seem to work at all. I felt ashamed and questioned myself. But the next day, this person returned and said that her hearing had been restored in her deaf ear. I hadn’t known she was deaf in one ear. I had just sung without any expectation, and the sound naturally went to the area that needed healing.

That experience made me realize that sound is not always within my control, but it can work in miraculous ways. The healing happens because of the resonance, not because of me as an individual. It’s about the person’s responsibility, too. I have an international education in vocal sound therapy, and I now call it vocal wellness, as more people began seeking results after witnessing the power of sound healing.

I aim for results—whatever works. The most important thing is to help people experience healing. I’ve witnessed incredible transformations, including tumors disappearing, almost as if the right resonance triggers a miraculous shift. Of course, I believe it happens with the help of a higher power.

What are some of the most profound transformations you’ve witnessed through your work?

One of the most profound transformations I’ve witnessed is people who have regained their hearing. For example, I once had a client with tinnitus, which improved but did come back. The challenge with conditions like tinnitus is that we don’t fully understand the root causes. I believe that sound can support the immune system and help the body heal, but ultimately, it’s up to the individual to work on the deeper issues, if they are willing. Healing is a partnership, and I can only assist those who are open to the miracle of transformation and willing to take responsibility for their own healing journey.

In my practice, I’ve seen the importance of daily self-care, such as singing, to maintain wellness. It’s not only about me providing healing but also about empowering people to take charge of their own healing through sound.

A profound healing I experienced personally was when I sought a sound to balance my endocrine system during menopause. The endocrine system is vital to the immune system’s communication, and when it’s out of balance, everything else is affected. I searched for a sound to help restore balance and found the “Hong” sound, which worked wonders for me. By focusing on my pineal gland at the center of my brain, I was able to heal and feel much better afterward. I even experienced physical detoxification, with toxins leaving my body, and I slept better than I had in years.

Another powerful transformation involved a woman from Ireland who had been diagnosed with cancer and was given very little time to live. She came to one of my courses in Spain, determined to try sound healing. During the session, a medical doctor from Australia, who was retired, scanned her using a handheld ultrasound. After a few healing sessions, he couldn’t find the tumor anymore—it had completely disappeared. The tumor had been 7×8 centimeters, and it was gone. After her check-up in the hospital, not only was the breast cancer gone, but also the cancer in her spine and lungs. It was an incredible result, and while it’s rare, it shows the power of hitting the right frequency with sound.

Can anyone learn to use sound for healing, or is it a special gift?

I believe that anyone can learn to use sound for self-healing and to keep their immune system strong. For example, anyone can meditate with sound. However, not everyone is meant to walk this path in life. We’re all born to do different things, and if someone doesn’t feel called to this work, that’s okay. Some people might find it silly or uncomfortable to sing for others, and they shouldn’t feel pressured to do so.

Take my son, for instance. He’s very good at it and has healed people instantly, but he doesn’t want to pursue it because he feels it’s too out there. So, it really depends on the person.

Choosing this path might lead to feeling isolated because others may perceive you as different or strange. I didn’t think about this when I started; I was just amazed by the healing results I saw. However, my family didn’t want to read my books or learn about what I do, and I had to accept that.

How do you integrate spirituality into your healing practices?

Spirituality plays a central role because the breath and the voice serve as a bridge between the earthly realm and oneness. In my experience, surrendering into oneness clears the path and strengthens intuition. As you progress, you begin to receive images and messages. However, the more you receive from the higher realms, the more grounding is needed. Humility is essential—without it, you lose everything.

We work with a higher power, and I have no doubt about this. Whether we’re receiving photons, like Tesla’s energy downloads, or help from spirits, it doesn’t matter. What’s important is that it works. Gratitude is key because if someone is open and trusting, healing can occur.

During the pandemic, we discovered we could offer healing online, even to those in hospitals. While I don’t have proof, we saw many miraculous recoveries. Now, I work online with a team, including film instructors and radiologists, to document the process. In one instance, we sang for a patient online, and a tumor disappeared immediately. The doctor was stunned.

Though the results are remarkable, I don’t want to create an influx of clients—I simply want to help those who are open to it. Belief plays a huge part. If someone believes in the process, their cells open to receive it. If they’re resistant or fearful, the healing won’t happen.

What advice do you have for those seeking healing through sound?

The key is not to approach it with a fix-it mindset, but rather to understand that healing is part of your journey. Any imbalance can be transformed into a gift, and we always have a choice. There’s even a point in healing, like at the gallbladder point #9, that asks, “Do you want to be a victim or a hero?” The hero rises above the situation, viewing it from a higher perspective. Instead of focusing on what’s lacking, the hero appreciates what’s present—seeing the glass as half full.

For example, I healed someone, and her tumor shrank to half its size. She was upset that it wasn’t completely gone. But I encouraged her to feel grateful for the progress. The body might not be able to handle a complete shift all at once. If a person cannot feel gratitude, it becomes difficult to heal them. The attitude should be one of thankfulness to the higher powers, acknowledging that healing is not about being part of a religious organization, but about recognizing that there’s always help around us.

I come from an atheistic background, but this work has shown me that we are never alone, and the support we receive is truly wonderful.
