Who is Daniel Le-Fey? Can you share a few details about your professional journey?
Who am I, that’s a question I ask myself a lot and wish other people asked themselves because it allows us time for reflection on who we are and where we are going. As a child, you are asked what would you like to be in life? Well, I never really knew the answer to that question, I didn’t want to be a doctor, a fireman, or an astronaut… I had never even heard of a holistic therapist let alone a Goddess Priest of Avalon. Well, that’s not quite true, I have always been interested in Myths and Legends of the British Isles and loved the legends of King Arthur, Avalon, Morgan La Fay, and the Knights of the Round Table. On one holiday when I was around 8 or 9 my parents took me down to Dorset and on the way back I asked them if we could visit Stonehenge before heading back to the Midlands. Without realizing that’s where my fascination with Paganism and the Native Faith Traditions of Britain began. At the Stonehenge Shop, I picked up a book on the Druids and said to myself this is what I want to be.
Nearly 25 years on I’m currently training to become a Druid. Growing up in the 90s and 00s I was surrounded by hit TV shows and Movies, with my favourite being The Worst Witch and of course Sabrina. The themes of Magic were always there in the background, in school, I studied all subjects on Environmentalism, from Conservation and Geography, which led me to study conservation fully at college. This was my grounding in life, it connected me to Nature and the Earth and how it all works on a scientific level. In school I wore a clear quartz crystal and my old science teacher said that crystals have healing properties.
This sparked my love of crystals and led me to learn everything I could on the subjects of healing, which I discuss later on. Once I had learned the Healing arts I found my local spiritual/pagan community at a local picnic and then went on to Glastonbury where I first studied Handfastings, as I wanted to gain a better understanding of ceremonies and rituals. It was on that course that I met trained Priestesses and Priests of the Goddess and Avalon. Some would call it fate others would call it a coincidence but I know after meeting them that this is where the next step of my spiritual training would lead me, training to become a Goddess Priest of Avalon.
I’ve told you the back story of my life so far as it’s an important step in understanding who I am today. Over the years I’ve been given many chances to reflect and look back and one of the central threads to my life is my love and devotion to the Goddess, The Lady of Avalon, and the British Spirits and Deities of these lands, a calling from the very beginning of my life, linking me to who I am today.
Over the past 15 years, all of these training and spiritual teachings have allowed me to understand a lot about Healing, Therapies, Ritual, Ceremony, and Spirituality. I have a broad range of skills that allow me to adapt quickly to any situation, helping my clients by specializing specifically to their needs, using my repertoire of skills to tune in and focus on what will be most beneficial to them whether that’s healing through massage, spiritual healing or kinesiology to one of my Ceremonial Healing’s that take the client on a journey of self-discovery to find the route of the issue using a variety of healing skills to assist them in their needs.
A few months ago while shopping in my hometown of Scarborough, a lady passed me by and said What are you? A quick response from me was… I am the Mystery.
Could you provide additional information regarding your therapies and events?
Nearly five years ago, I left my family village of Sawley in Derbyshire and moved to Scarborough, following my dreams of living by the sea and now as I write this blog I look out of the window and see the whole of South Bay leading down to Flamborough headland and the horizon. I have a deep soul connection to the sea and the next part of my path is about learning the ways of the Sea Witch and the Sea Priestess. This knowledge and wisdom will soon become new workshops and training courses that I will be leading here in Scarborough.
As well as being a Mobile Therapist along the Yorkshire Coast, I run an online course, called “Spiralling with the Wheel of the Year” which is a year-long course celebrating the 8 seasonal changes of the year from Imbolc to the Winter Solstice, following the Celtic, British traditions of these lands. For more information please visit: www.daniellefey.com/spirallingwiththewheeloftheyear.
I love leading workshops and teaching subjects that I’m passionate about from learning how to read the Tarot to teaching healing and ritual skills to people. In the past, I have run my own Priestess training course centered around Sacred Space and the Goddess Nemetona, who is the Goddess of Sanctuary, of healing, and of holding Sacred Space in the Heart of the Grove.
This year as well as teaching Sea Witchcraft workshops I’m hosting a Well-Being Fayre here in the center of Scarborough as I love working as a collective, working with communities to help each other achieve the very best by bringing wellness back to our Spa Town and helping fellow Spiritual and Holistic Businesses achieve the very best in what they do.
I also love leading Retreats with my favourite being at Pendle Hill. I’ve held a Pendle Retreat nearly every year now for the past 6 years. Pendle is one of my spiritual heartlands, connecting to the land and the injustice that the accused women better known as the Pendle Witches were wrongly accused and victims of the 1600s.
During the Pendle Retreat, we work a lot around our own injustices and how we can bring healing to ourselves, healing past trauma and wounding and bringing light back to where it is needed. Again working with Healing and Ritual to bring about deep transformation, as I realised many years ago when healing is done during a sacred space in a ceremonial way it can take us to new depths that go much deeper on a subconscious level that brings the greatest form of healing.
I also offer one-to-one workshops and in-person and online Tarot/Oracle Readings.
What inspired you to specialize in a diverse range of practices such as Holistic Treats, Spa Treats, Kinesiology, and Life Coaching?
When I was 18, I started my first training course, with a local healer and spiritual teacher who lived just around the corner from me, I learned Spiritual Healing and Crystal Healing to begin with. Taking healing and therapy courses has become somewhat of an addiction over the years, with a thirst for learning more. From Crystal Healing I went on to do all of Sally’s courses which included Ear Candling, Kinesiology (Kinesiology is based on the Chinese Meridian System and focuses on muscle testing to clear the Meridian Channels), and Angel Therapy.
After completing all these Holistic Courses, I realized that I needed to train in some mainstream form of therapy, so I went on to College to study Complementary Therapies, which included Aromatherapy, Massage, and Reflexology. The main reason for me doing this course was to become more mainstream however I realized that I’m not a mainstream therapist, I practice Holistic Therapies and that’s the style of healing that suits me.
Over the years I have now created a spa package that includes both aspects of holistic therapies, sounding, aromatherapy, and massage or reflexology to bring overall wellness to the client. As well as this I have also studied and qualified in Bach Flower Remedies, Shamanic Healing, Reiki, Life Coaching, and as a Past Life Regression Therapist.
Can you explain the process of past life regression in your sessions, and how does this exploration contribute to a client’s spiritual and emotional healing journey?
I have done various forms of past life regression over the years. The first past life I ever experienced was on a 6-week evening course, where we did a Past Life Meditation, in that experience I could feel the sensations of getting hotter. I couldn’t see anything, it was quite dark but all I could feel was getting hotter with every breath I took.
To the point where I had to stop meditating and open my eyes before everyone else. I realized afterwards that I was being burnt and this is where my fear of fire comes from. Another Past Life experience came to me when I held a black tourmaline crystal it gave me a flash or glimpse into a memory of me falling from a cliff top in Scotland in a previous time, from that version I knew where my fear of falling and cliff tops began. These glimpses into my own past lives led me to train professionally as a Past Life Regressional Therapist as I wanted to learn more about the science and therapeutic techniques that are part of this therapy. Over the course, I learned more about my own Past Lives and more importantly, I learned how Hypnotherapy can help a client travel back from before birth in this life to experience the most relevant past life to them now.
By training, as a Past Life Therapist, I can now help others find out if their fears or phobias were caused during this life or if they were because of a past life experience. This is how the emotional and healing part of the therapy goes, it can also help resolve unexplained issues the client is having. When I was training, one of my case studies saw herself in a house fire with a sibling, on waking she knew why she had a fear of fire and a constant stream of protection for her current siblings. In regards to spirituality, not all Past Life Regressions are focused on healing, some clients want to explore their past lives to see who they were and what the lessons were in that life so they can progress more in this life. Most people when they regress think they may become Cleopatra or a Witch, over the years with all the clients I’ve seen most have been farming folk, working the land, and living a happy family life.
What sets your approach apart in Handfastings, Baby Naming ceremonies, and Funerals as a celebrant?
As I have already mentioned earlier on in this interview, Handfastings was one of the first ceremonies I learned, followed by Baby Namings. I did this course in Glastonbury which gives me my first edge or unique approach. By learning in Glastonbury, the Ancient Legendary Isle of Avalon, I weave together the ancient threads of spirituality and bring professional ceremonial skills that give me again a wide set of skills for the couple I’m performing the Handfasting or Baby Naming for. Upon the first initial Handfasting and Baby Naming meeting, I always say to my clients that I’m starting with a blank, white piece of paper, for this is your ceremony, your day, let’s create the ceremony of your dreams. My style of ceremony and healing is to always put the client first, it’s not about me it’s about how I can use my skills to help you.
Another edge that Glastonbury has given me is a wide range of mini ceremonies that can be performed during the main Handfasting, from Unity Candle Lighting to Celtic/Elemental Ring Blessings to a unique form of hand-binding. Other schools of Handfasting may only teach the traditional ribbon or cord binding but in Glastonbury and within the Goddess Tradition we are taught the Hoop and Wand Binding for straight couples or an Infinity Symbol Binding or Wand Binding for LGBTQ+ couples. This form of Hand-Binding is beautiful as at the end we ask each guest to come up and bless the couple by adding their ribbon onto the hoop/ wand or infinity structure. Everything gets woven together and forms a beautiful web of love that remains intact after the ceremony and you can hang it on the wall for you to admire as a memory of that special day.
I went on to learn Funeral Celebrancy as I have deep empathy and care for this soul work. As a late teenager, I used to work in a Nursing home, working on the front line of this profession, helping people with the deepest of needs and working with their families, it felt only natural that I should carry on this work now as a funeral celebrant helping families in their hours of deepest sadness, to find peace and to celebrate the life of the person who has passed over, with meaning and purpose.
The person-centred approach has always been my style of care support and it’s how I work with my clients and friends within the spiritual community. I hope it is my trustworthiness and ease of communication that allow me to help people the most. Because of the work I do, I see people at all different levels of emotional needs from joy and celebration to wounding, pain to grief and loss. I take care in all the work I do and I really want the best for everyone I teach and work with whether it’s through healing or during a ritual or ceremony.
In what ways have your spiritual beliefs as a Priest of the Goddess, Sea Witch, and Trainee Druid changed and developed over time?
Since my first footsteps all them years ago at my first Pagan Picnic, I never knew where my next footsteps would lead me. I can say I’ve had a blessed life learning the healing arts and then training as Priest of Avalon, which was over a decade ago, my vow to the Lady of Avalon was to always be in service to her and to her spiritual and pagan communities, a vow that continues to grows in meaning.
Some people are often afraid of change or transformation but as Priests/ess, we are taught to embrace it, to surrender to the flow of Goddess, to the flow of Spirit. With this skill, I’ve learned to live in the flow and enjoy every part of life from the good to the not-so-good.
With my new teachings of Druidry, I feel like I have now come full circle and see myself clearly as a beautiful tree with my roots being my love for nature, the sea, conservation, and environmentalism. The trunk or core part of the tree is my devotion and love to Goddess, Glastonbury/Avalon, the Yorkshire Coast, and the land of Britain. Finally, my many branches are how I can help others through my knowledge of the healing arts, with my skills in rituals and ceremonies, and being able to offer workshops and events to everyone from all walks and backgrounds.
My own personal path is constantly changing and growing, this year I turn 35, and in finding Druidry I have found the grounding I need to focus on the next part of my work. Living here in Scarborough and along the Yorkshire Coast my work as a Sea Witch and Priest is constantly evolving as I learn more from the sea, sky, cliffs, and natural surroundings learning the ancient art of scrying and divination using shells and oracles cards to bring me self guidance and to offer guidance to others.
Hopefully, as you have read through this interview you will have heard and felt the passion that I have for the work I do, it is not just about my own spiritual path but it is also about how I can offer help and support to yourself.
