How did you first become interested in Lipsology, and what inspired you to pursue certification in this unique field?
I have been entertaining with palmistry and tarot card readings for over 43 years professionally. I also learned to do graphology (handwriting analysis) about 30 years ago and have entertained with that system as well. About 14 years ago, my talent agent asked that I learn a new system so that they could hire me out more. I started looking into different things, face reading, tea leaf reading, etc. I was looking around on the internet and found an article on Jilly Eddy and then went to her website and found out about Lipsology®, the art and science of reading lip prints.
I was fascinated and thought that this would be a great system to learn. I reached out to Jilly and we talked on the phone and she was about to teach a guy in Chicago and was happy to teach me as well. I had no idea how complete and accurate her system was and was very impressed. It takes about a year to learn the system and I applied myself to learning. It was fun and amazing and incredibly accurate!
Jilly had spent about 14 years researching over 10,000 lip prints to make sure her system was at least 80-100% accurate before she taught anyone and then she and her students continued to research her system to this day so Lipsology has been researched, so far, for over 30 years.
Can you explain some of the key personality traits or energy levels that can be interpreted through lip prints?
With Lipsology®, personality traits are not interpreted. The lip prints are interpreted to discover the types of personality traits that the person who made them possesses. Lip prints reveal what is going on in the present for a person. Because the lips are more neurologically connected to the brain than almost any other area of the body, I like to describe the lip print as a brain print of the person’s present moment.
Lip Print Shapes tell a lot about a person’s personality.
For instance, someone with a triangular shaped lip print will be someone who is perceptive and helps others to succeed by noticing what they are good at and helping them to see that in themselves (if needed) and often sending them in the right direction to develop their skills. Example: A good teacher who teaches to the skill set or learning style of the student or a manager putting people in a good position to do the best for themselves and also the team.
Energy levels are assessed from the color intensity of the lip print. The more strong and even the color printed on the page, the more energy the person has.
What is the most surprising or memorable reading you’ve done using Lipsology, and how did it impact the individual involved?
I did a private reading for a person that worked at a new age shop who regularly got readings from people who worked there with many different systems of divination/healing/etc. When he got his Lipsology reading from me, I saw the struggles he was having based on what his lip prints showed.
I also saw that he needed to pay attention to his body, asking for some focus on healing in the upper left quadrant of his body. He let me know that he was having some heart issues and I encouraged him to not delay taking care of himself. We also talked about stress and other things showing up in his lip prints. – Afterward he told me that it was the most profound reading of any kind he had ever received.
How do lip fillers or other cosmetic changes affect lip prints, and how do you account for these in your readings?
People have asked me about how lip fillers might affect a lip print reading since I started entertaining with Lipsology®. Unless the person has completely distorted their lips so that they can’t pucker them, it really doesn’t change the reading.
I have one example on my website in the “What Is Lipsology” section where a gal who worked at a medi-spa had gotten a lip print reading from me in February 2015 (prior to ever getting her lips injected) and did another print for me in June of 2015 2 weeks after her first lip filler injections.
The 2nd lip print was significantly thinner (less full) than the first lip print. This told me that she was not listening as well to people as she had the first time (thinner upper lip print) and it also told me that she was having some financial concerns (thinner lower lip print).
Her friends at the medi-spa were shocked because she had just been telling them about her money struggles. What I have confirmed with many different kinds of things (like people who had Bells Palsy or scars or very full lips or very thin lips) is that that physical traits do not predict what the lip print will look like. You can guess about things but it depends on what that person does with their lips when they kiss the paper.
With Lipsology being such a niche field, what are some of the biggest challenges and rewards of teaching and practicing this art?
Lipsology has been around for about 30 years as of 2024 so it’s starting to catch on. Also, Jilly’s book, Lipsology®, the Art and Science of Reading Lip Prints, has been out for 10 years as of 2024. Many people are practicing lip print reading based on her book these days. As I do our Lipsology Certification training and more well trained and excellent Lipsologists are bringing awareness to this amazing, awesome and accurate system, more and more people are learning about it.
For those who are interested in becoming a Certified Lipsologist, it takes a willingness to do the training for at least a year. The most difficult thing was to get established because I was the first person to become a Certified Lipsologist on the east coast of the US. Because I was also doing other kinds of readings, it was less difficult to bring awareness to lip print reading and how truly wonderful it is for any kind of gathering, party, or event be it private or corporate.
I get rave reviews all the time. People are often quite surprised at how so many of their guests complement them on getting such a fun and different activity at their event.
To close, quite simply, I love doing Lipsology. It gives people joy and laughter and fun and that makes me feel happy as well.
