Can you tell us about your journey to becoming an astrologer? What inspired you to pursue this path, and how did you develop your skills and knowledge in this area?
Growing up in a strict religious environment, astrology wasn’t something you could explore as it was regarded as a wicked and evil methodology. However, as I was leaving the church and trying to figure out my identity, I kept coming across information about my zodiac sign, Aries, and found it resonating with my personality and nature. This sparked my curiosity and prompted me to dive deeper into the study of astrology.
I began to read and listen to various resources and eventually decided to invest in formal education to learn it officially. After completing my studies, I started offering birth chart readings for free, which became so popular that I started charging a nominal fee for my time. I even bartered with a client to build me a website to further promote my business.
When I was laid off from my corporate job, I realized that my astrology business was ready for me to take on full-time, and that’s how I began my journey as an astrologer.
For those who may not be familiar with astrology, can you give us a brief overview of what it entails and how your approach differs from other forms of astrology?
I think this is an important question, given the many different ways to interpret a birth chart and the various practices within astrology. To explain my approach, I use western astrology with the goal of using your birth chart as a map to help you understand, know, and love yourself even better. I believe that all the tools that make you who you are have been given to you for a reason and do not need to be changed or sharpened; rather, they are all there for you to utilize. Unfortunately, many of us end up using those tools against ourselves instead of carving out the life we want. So, I begin with your birthday, the exact time you were born, and the place you were born, and then use a software system to cast your chart. I will then virtually show you your chart and dive into all the pieces of it. For my readings, I use the Placidus house system, which is just one of many systems available but works best for me.
Your astrology sessions often incorporate elements of tarot, intuition, and energy healing. How do these modalities complement and enhance the astrological insights you provide to clients?
What I have found is that all of the modalities – whether it’s Reiki, tarot, energy healing, or astrology – can complement and enhance each other when used with the intention of helping and healing the client. Even though different astrologers might read my chart differently, it doesn’t negate the insights of one modality over another. They simply offer different perspectives and enhance the birth chart reading. For me, I use any modality that feels right and good, such as tarot, pendulum for trapped emotions, and human design. All of these modalities add layers and perspectives to the birth chart and are like scaffoldings to hang your gifts on.
In your experience working with clients, what are some of the most common themes or challenges that people come to you for help with? How do you use astrology to help your clients gain clarity and understanding in these areas?
When people come to me, they often don’t know what to expect. They don’t necessarily come with a specific issue or question in mind. I think the best way to put it is that every human being has a deep desire to be seen and understood. All of my business is word of mouth – it’s always been that way. I’ve never marketed myself or put myself out there; people come to me because they’ve heard from someone else that I can help.
Using astrology, I can provide insight and clarity into a person’s life. It’s always amazing to me how accurate and powerful a birth chart can be in providing information about a person’s challenges, strengths, and path in life. I often see clients struggling with issues around relationships, career, and life purpose. With astrology, I can help them understand themselves and their situations more deeply, and provide guidance on how to navigate their challenges.
It’s a very humbling and powerful experience to be able to help someone see themselves more clearly, and provide them with a sense of validation and direction. Through astrology, I can offer a compassionate space for clients to explore their inner selves and empower them to continue healing themselves using the resources they already have within.
Lastly, what do you see as the role of ethereal astrology in today’s world, and how do you hope to contribute to the growth and evolution of this field in the years to come?
I often tell my clients that it would bring me great joy if every person born had immediate access to their birth chart, so that we could all understand our own unique map. I can only imagine how much it would have helped me as a mother to understand my four children if I had access to this information while raising them. Even now, as adults, they still come to me seeking advice and validation. If we could raise awareness of astrology among parents, schools, and children, it would help them to better understand themselves and their unique needs.
For example, my son is almost fifteen and has a strong understanding of astrology. He recognizes when different elements of his chart, such as his Moon In Taurus or Mars in Virgo, are being activated and it gives him perspective on his actions. That is such a powerful thing for a child to understand – why maybe they’re not liking to be in a group of people, that they need a safer space, more comfort, or a different kind of way of learning. My goal would be to help people know about themselves at a much earlier age, so that they can feel safe and comfortable in their bodies.
