The Vocal Transformation Method™ integrates neuroscience with ancient vocal techniques from various global traditions. Could you elaborate on how this fusion enhances the process of reactivating one’s authentic voice?
Most of the indigenous, shamanic and ancient global cultures had vocal practices. These were a means of connecting to spirit and also a means of survival. We tend, in our modern world, to look at all of these practices as esoteric or religious in nature and relegate it as such. Science is now beginning to see the effect that the human voice has on our nervous system, our endocrine system, our neuropathways and our stress levels. The voice is literally a healing tool and it goes deeper than that, it is also a tool for manifesting. When we begin to do this work of reawakening this faculty, our original intelligences turn on. The authentic voice is the voice that will emerge from this reconnection.
Your journey involved healing from a severely broken neck and overcoming a locked jaw, leading to the development of the Vocal Transformation Method™. How did these personal challenges shape the principles and practices of the method?
Well I spent half a year in a hospital bed in traction. I was in a traction brace where my skull was being held away from my C1 which was severely broken. Laying there still unable to move, an inward process began of finding stored traumas and emotions in my body. Then the time came when I had to release them and my mouth was locked shut. When I came out of traction, I had a very narrow and small voice compared to what I had before the accident. No range and not a lot of volume. I was not allowed physical therapy because of the nature of the break, so I was on my own. It was really out of necessity that I had to gradually work my jaw open and release what had become tight due to pressure and also what had atrophied. In the process I discovered what muscles I could use from my lower body to help open my throat in a supported and less painful way. It was here where I discovered this original intelligence of the body. The way we express ourselves as babies is very different from the way we express as we age. By reclaiming this embodiment I was able to fully reclaim my range and power, while healing myself on an emotional, spiritual and physical level. Now this is what I help others do — rebirth themselves and return to their bodies’ innate intelligence. That is how I came up with The Vocal Transformation Technique which is now an online course I have built to share this exercise I did to open it all back up with the rest of the world. The Vocal Transformation Method™ is a step by step process of healing and redeveloping the voice from the root up so you can be fully in your power and awaken the full range and potential of your voice.
The 9-month online cohort program offers an immersive experience into Vocal Transformation. What can participants expect in terms of personal growth and vocal development throughout this program?
The Foundation of this work is a 9-month process of chanting for each energy center of the body also known as chakras. In our cohort we will be training the muscles in the way I described in the last question. We go step by step through how we develop from birth and what has created the voice you’re currently using to represent who you are. Throughout your life, the world outside trains you. Your voice is a by-product of how that training and your ego develop, but when we move beyond that and awaken the vocal resonance in the body we can un-program and rebuild again as we choose. When a group of people do this together, and support each other through this process it can go so much deeper than if you were on your own. It creates a safe container to be seen and share who you are and it creates accountability so you keep up the discipline necessary. There are daily vocal practices necessary. We start by working on proper breath support and then daily chanting practices, as well as introspection practices and then singing. The singing is a by-product of the work. Whether you think you’re a singer or not, once you liberate your voice..you’ll want to sing! This cohort can lead to any transformation you want for your life. So to say what they can expect to achieve is difficult. You will have a whole new relationship with your voice and how you yield reality with it. We start with what your goals are and you can expect to either achieve them or be well on your way to achieving them by the end of the 9-months.
The Vocal Transformation Method™ emphasizes the role of the voice in upleveling various aspects of life, including relationships and professional endeavors. Could you discuss the mechanisms by which vocal practices influence these areas?
It all has to do with the frequency of authenticity and confidence. These are the two most magnetic frequencies humans have. Your frequency is your currency and your voice is your soul’s dynamic life urge for truthful expression. When you remember how to use it and liberate your soul, you can create anything your heart can dream. Right now many of us have blockages in our energy field that physically obstruct our path to living in our truest fulfillment. Learning to activate your original authentic voice, will remove the obstacles and align you with life force energy. It’s quite a miraculous thing I get to help people achieve. And it works.
You have been described as a “lifetime student of various lineages, wisdoms, and practices.” How do these diverse influences inform the techniques and teachings within the Vocal Transformation Method™?
Without even knowing it, I have been in training to teach what I teach since I was a young child. I was raised by a very well versed metaphysical father. He would practice the Egyptian vowel sounds and chants in our home. I of course thought he was crazy and it was not “cool” so I didn’t lean in then. Later, I would come to understand that this was all foreshadowing, and these practices came with the epigenes that I am blessed to wear. I have always been interested in ancient civilizations and how they used to do things here on earth, then how they are doing it here now. Although I have not studied to the depths of all lineages, throughout my life I have been blessed to learn from teachers of different traditions…Buddhist, Hindu, Shamanic, Native American, Andean, Kabbalist, Egyptian. While some may criticize me for my blended approach, what I have found is that the embodiment of the voice has been a known practice for all humans since the beginning of our time here on earth. It was an experience with a Peruvian Curandero that ultimately opened up my vision to see how the Vocal Transformation Method was to be taught and how it has the potential to heal and awaken the human race. The fundamentals of Vocal Transformation is centered on the Bija Mantras or seed sounds of the chakra system. Many people are closed off to the term chakra, feeling it to be religious in nature, but every human has energy centers that the voice can activate. I work with the Sanskrit sounds primarily but also others when necessary. These sounds can release blockages and awaken dormant potential in these centers. It’s a simple practice as the foundation of the work that everyone can do, and should do, if you ask me. Its benefits are profound.
