Patricia Lane’s journey into Reiki began after a life-altering stroke at age 53, which set her on a path of deep healing and transformation. Through Reiki, she not only discovered a powerful tool for her own recovery but also a calling to teach and share its wisdom with others. Now a Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training, Patricia has helped countless students and clients experience profound healing.
In this interview for Mystic Mag, she shares her personal story, insights into Holy Fire® III Reiki and Animal Reiki, and how her studies in metaphysics have shaped her approach to energy healing.
How did your personal healing journey after your stroke lead you to discover Reiki, and what was your first experience with it like?
After my stroke at age 53, I began a journey to discover ways to heal myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically and spiritually. Reiki was one of the things which crossed my path. My first experience with Reiki was a Reiki 1 class and I loved the energy I felt when I used it on myself.
Although I did not understand all the ways Reiki would help me at that time, I now give it credit for leading me and guiding me for the next few years in my life. As I gave myself Reiki everyday, I was guided to become vegetarian and to put into place practices to love myself and to follow my intuition which was beginning to make itself known to me.
I began to create a life of my own design and to allow what was no longer in my highest good to fall away. I left an abusive marriage and I, even though I was still not fully recovered, asked for guidance and worked my way through my fears. Looking back over that period of my life and my relationship with God, I would refer to this as having faith and asking for and following the guidance I was receiving, even though it was tough and I was afraid. I allowed my heart to guide me and not my mind for the first time in my life.
What inspired you to pursue Reiki at a deeper level and become a Licensed Reiki Master Teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training?
That is a big question with lots of stories to the puzzle in various shapes, sizes and pieces. What I will say is this. I followed the guidance I was asking for and I began to have mystical experiences which, even today, I find it difficult to actually comprehend myself. That journey and those experiences became the book I was to write.
I discovered that sharing Reiki is what I love to do and teaching it was to become my passion and a way for me to share it with others. As teachers, we actually learn more about a subject when we teach it to others. I was introduced to the concept of becoming a Licensed Master Reiki Teacher in November of 2014 while attending a Holy Fire Karuna Reiki class when Laurel Shanti Gaia told the class of 22 students that we would be her first Holy Fire class to take Holy Fire Reiki into the world and becoming a Licensed Master Reiki Teacher was one of the ways to reach more students. She was the director over the LMRT program of the ICRT at that time.
The seed was planted, although it took several years to complete the requirements to enter the program and is a thorough 3 year program to become a fully Licensed Master Reiki Teacher. I may have been the oldest person to enter the program as I was 68 at the time.
Can you share a powerful transformation or healing story from one of your students or clients?
I have seen so many changes in clients and students and that is why I do what I do. I have seen lives changed with Reiki and one of the most powerful stories I can recall is when a Reiki student came into class with a spirit attachment. Reiki is so powerful in removing spirit attachments and changing the lives that are affected with this type of low vibrational energy. This client went on to take all levels of Reiki and she now teaches Reiki herself. Reiki changes lives!
What do you find unique about Holy Fire® III Reiki and IcRT Animal Reiki compared to other Reiki traditions?
Each type of Reiki frequency has a Divine intelligence and assists us in expanding our consciousness. Holy Fire Reiki is a very special Reiki energy. Holy Fire empowers, purifies, guides, and heals us on many levels from the energetic to the physical, mental and the spiritual. The energy of the Holy Fire Ignitions affect our spirit which is directly connected to God/Source and there is no limit what that can bring into our lives.
Animal Reiki is a frequency to heal all animals, plants, and Mother Earth herself. Mother earth is alive just as we are and possesses the Divine spirit of the Earth. The energy is very shamanic and powerful and entrains our human frequencies with the divine kingdom frequencies of the earth and the animal kingdom which dwells on her. Animal Reiki helps to reveal our authentic human spirit and heals our belief that we have dominion over the earth on deep levels and empowers communion with the animals and all of nature.
How has writing your book and earning a degree in Metaphysics influenced your approach to teaching and practicing Reiki?
Writing my book helped me to approach my life experiences through a lense as if viewing the lessons I came here to learn, asking myself, “What did I learn from that? Writing helped me to heal on a deeper level and to tell my story my way. I wrote my book to empower others to empower themselves with the knowledge and the tools to heal themselves and take responsibility for their lives and to make the changes necessary to live happy and fulfilled lives by asking for guidance, taking action and intentionally creating what they desire in life.
Many times that looks messy and is full of uncertainty and even fear. Such was the case for me. I now know that the stroke I experienced at age 53 was in reality one of the greatest gifts I have been given. I now know that I am a more compassionate and wiser teacher of spirituality and metaphysics.
My Bachelors degree in Metaphysics not only taught me about energy and the spark we each have inside of us from the Divine, I became a nondenominational ordained Minister also. The study of Metaphysics, which is the study of energy, takes us into the realm of Quantum Physics, Meditation, Sound Healing and the realization that everything is energy and not only does energy not die, our energy can have an effect on everything around us.
Everything is energy and the thoughts we think, the words we speak, the beliefs we hold are all metaphysical in nature. Because of that spark of Divinity inside of each one of us we are empowered to create and to destroy, to uplift and degrade, to love and to abuse. It is up to us to choose the high frequency of love above all else and to know that Reiki imbues all that it touches with the Love from the Divine.
