What inspired your journey into wellness facilitation and holistic teaching, and how has it evolved over the past 40 years?
From a young age, I was uniquely able to see colours around people, animals, and energy fields. I believed this was a common experience: everyone constantly saw these vibrant hues. However, I soon realised that I was seeing something others could not. I could discern clusters of people and understand what was needed to bring balance and harmony to these individuals and groups.
In my early years, I began mentoring people while nursing but could not continue this path with medications. I chose to fulfil my natural ability to help people become more aware of their intuition and well-being. I studied the human field and how we tracked down the same neural pathways and realised that a holistic way forward included the whole body and all body systems.
Over the last 40 years, the main evolution has been that there are now more than ever many people seeking enlightenment as they become more aware of their innate ability to perceive situations and naturally have greater intentions for their lives. As a Reiki Master Teacher for nearly 25 years, I have seen the transition into the awakening of various energy treatments and modalities. This points to a
deeper awareness that we are transitioning to knowing our source of personal power lies within each of us.
Can you elaborate on the connection between Ancient Egyptian spirituality and your approach to self-awareness and healing?
My connection to ancient Egyptian philosophy was studying the natural herbs and flowers and the power of the blue lotus. I’ve always been passionate about empowering women, and the fact that the goddesses were so revered in Egypt stepped me on a pathway that was more about self awareness and validation during healing practices for women. As women were revered in Egypt for bearing children and acknowledged as equals in partnerships, I wanted to support women as mothers and bringers of new life. By observing energies around people, I was acutely aware that many women lacked self-confidence and needed a more profound healing from within. I also saw men struggling with their identity and their roles. I believe if we can connect more passionately as human beings, we can let go of our judgement of ourselves and others, become more understanding, caring, and joyous, and create magic within the realms of nature. I deeply empathise with and understand this need for self-awareness and healing.
How do you integrate cross-cultural experiences from New Zealand and the Asia Pacific into your wellness and business practices?
As a business mentor, I believe in the power of personal reflection. I’ve had the privilege of guiding individuals from diverse cultures on their journey to align with their true path. This experience has deepened my understanding of our global human family. I admire each culture’s beauty and moving experiences and how, if we connect more to our inner intelligence, we have stronger, more harmonious relationships.
I recognise the complex relationships between harmony and our personal lives and how they relate to our workspaces and businesses. We can observe a shift from traditional business practices, where managers exert control over their employees, to more collaborative environments where incorporating the thoughts and feelings of everyone in the organisation leads to better outcomes. Feeling valued and appreciated are the most crucial feelings that guide us toward a fulfilling life.
What unique challenges and rewards have you encountered while managing organic health spas for over two decades?
Owning and managing organic health spas was the highlight of my initial work. It provided me with a platform for going deeper and more personally into supporting a holistic environment. Maybe 20 years ago, most never saw the value of a more organic lifestyle. In my spas we have been instrumental in creating changes in people’s lives, bringing an understanding of how every thought, word, and action plays a role in the life that we live. I have supported all my staff in learning how to use the powerful energy of self-transformation through Reiki and other healing modalities in our Spa environment. All my team members have the ability to prioritise a person’s emotional welfare as well as their physical well-being. In our organic environment, we recognise the importance of a holistic approach to health, understanding that it’s not just about physical health, but also emotional and mental well-being. We were able to be of service before issues began, promoting a proactive approach to wellness. These are some of the main practices we are still educating on today.
Absolutely running organic spas has been quite unique as we only performed treatments using concepts with the whole person’s well-being. Using organic products has personally enabled me to help transform ones every day usage of products to being more in awareness that everything we use in our bodies and on our bodies has an impact over our general well-being. It is not just eating healthy or using non-toxic products but also changing our home environment, and our thoughts and feelings must be addressed in this holistic attitude.
In your view, what role does teamwork and community play in achieving individual and collective transformation?
Teamwork and togetherness are the most important aspects of creating a platform to transform relationships and awareness in business culture and life balance.
As we collaborate on working out solutions together, we empower each other. When each of us aspires to be a greater person and one who wishes to grow internally, all aspects of our lives change. We draw to ourselves more open confidence, which helps us relate to others and achieve greater outcomes. As we change, we invite solutions for our families and relationships to change as well. We no longer need to use the ego to force our opinion on others, but we allow the power balance to sit equally between all. We can learn to compliment others without putting ourselves in a compromised situation or feeling less important. We learn equality plays a major role in all of us rising together. I like to look at everything as if we were in a tribal community where we each had a role to play in being of service to each other. Understanding this type of relationship allows us to seek deeper levels of understanding and coherence with our children and families and celebrate a more grateful acknowledgment of our ancestors.
How do you help individuals discover their “inner greatness” and align with their life purpose through your programs?
My programs have been specifically set to cover many of what people are terming shadow work or parts of us that are hidden to show a better side of ourselves. We have the ability to release old information we have been telling ourselves to undermine our strengths. We can see we each have a focus of greatness that does not have to look like what everyone else has and is doing.
We must all look at each experience without judging but allow ourselves to come through that experience and acknowledge it. My work has been transformational for so many in ways that they
can let go of issues and situations that may have been holding them back from seeing the greatness within. As we see more of the goodness and allow ourselves to expand with our truth and purpose, we grow within that space of seeing our own heart light, the source of why we are here, and our purpose.
I have guided my courses through the chakra work or the energy vortex within the body these energy vortexes hold specific areas which may be trapped and without full expression. As we look at and work on these past experiences, we understand that we have now ceased to judge them as good or bad; instead, we see them as guidance and experiences on our pathway. We learn to celebrate our inner light and see the work that we have achieved. As a child, our projections and thoughts about ourselves are revealed from an early age. If we have had role models within families, teachers, or institutions that have been suppressing our natural intelligence and genius, then as we grow into adults, we suppress our desire to be as great of potential as we were born to be. All new life has an unstoppable power, a language that lives within our cellular being. As we express this language, we can learn to look at ourselves with more value and create a life that sits within our purpose.
We can free ourselves to choose again and reset our intentions for the future. I look at all individuals uniquely, each with an opportunity for a new beginning, a new life, to accept a pathway that matches our gifts and desires to align with our soul’s purpose.
